When Leela is in a good mood, it's a pleasant experience for everybody. Cons: Leela has little to no system for dealing with toddlers acting out like toddlers sometimes do. Instead of working together with parents to develop a strategy, Leela is prone to just shouting at the parents instead, or booting their child from daycare altogether. She is also an antivaxxer, and threw a tantrum AT ME PERSONALLY because my wife and I vaccinate our child. The only thing that kept me from firing her on the spot was that, due to family health issues, making such a change without lead time to transition to a new provider would have been unfeasible. If your child is younger than "terrible twos" and you are comfortable working with an antivaxxer, it's a fine establishment. If your child could possibly act out or throw a tantrum, or if she gets wind that you have vaccinated your child, consider this fair warning that in exchange for the good prices, you will likely be shouted at at some point, and your child may get booted from the enrollment.

All that said, there is no pool or water exercise capability there; you have to pay a separate fee to the City of Lompoc to access the aquatic center, which is literally right behind the Y, and it is expensive with limited adult access in the exercise pool because it is primarily geared towards children and families. Additionally, the Y itself is at least 95% geared towards children and families, with adults and seniors treated to crumbs and as an afterthought. Not very welcoming at all if you aren't a family with young children. Lastly, the hours are not great for those on non-traditional schedules, and the membership fee is quite expensive. Sad, because my entire family has been a Y family since my brother and I were kids, and there was always plenty of access to things and activities, classes, functions AND a pool at other YMCAs. Just not this one. Again, great for families and little kids and people looking for what amounts to a daycare center and kids camp. Not so great for everybody else.

I love the steam room even if it does get very hot and humid in there .Staff at this branch are ALWAYS helpful, polite, very nice young ladies at the desk always make us feel like part of the Y family. Overall very satisfied but would love to visit more on weekends..
