I lived in Colorado for 14 years where the Mexican food is abundant and really good. Since I've moved here, I've longed for REAL Mexican food. Well, this place DOES NOT disappoint. The owner is super nice (from Mexico) and speaks little English...he waits tables, and gives the BEST service ever! The food is fantastic. I always get the Chili Burrito Verde. Beef tips inside 2 flour tortillas smothered in a spicy green sauce and their special white creamy cheese sauce I've had other dishes there, too, and they were just as delicious. De-lish! Don't walk...RUN to Pedro's! You won't be sorry you did. read more

The atmosphere is hostile and uncomfortable. We waited a few minutes to be sat (two of us) and were eventually told to just seat ourselves because they were busy. I couldn't tell you much about the rest of the restaurant because after we sat ourselves in the middle of the dining room we just sat. no menus, no drinks, no chips, no entrees. Meanwhile, the other customers all grew angry as they waited for silverware, the rest of their parties order, drink refills. Somehow all the angry chatter didn't manage to wake up the other employee SLEEPING IN A CHAIR in one of the unlit dining rooms. After twenty minutes of no service we got up and were greeted with "Good call" and other statements supporting our decision to leave. So if you'd like a hostile uncomfortable place to sit, Pedro's Kitchen is your place. If you want FAST, ACCURATE, and EXCEPTIONAL Mexican food, then drive a bit further down the street to El Canelo's in Oneida. read more

The food was the typical "microwave" Mexican, but not bad on that scale. The main problem was the $10 margaritas which were not even that big! I had no idea they were that expensive and left this restaurant feeling gouged. Haven't had to pay that much for a standard sized margarita ANYWHERE!? Pedro was nice but didn't like feeling hosed so I probably won't return. read more

Ate here the other night, absolutely terrible service. The waitress was also rude. She came over, took our order, waited roughly 40 minutes for them to serve our food even though no one else was there and immediately after that, she brought our check! I asked for her name several times, every time she replied with a crude remarks demanding why we wanted to know. Needless to say,we will never eat there again! read more

Unbelievable - we came to try Pedros Kitchen in Vernon and ordered beef and chicken fajitas for $13.50 and it came with two tortillas. We asked for more and she asked if we'd like to order more. They were going to charge us for more than two tortillas. I can't believe it! You've got to be kidding me. There's a charge for more than two tortillas. read more

We ate there and the lady that owns the place was absolutely RUID! My husband asked for another tortilla and was told they would charge us. Order fajitas and received 2 tortilla's with order. She told him "we can not give you unlimited tortilla's". Really was not the right answer to a 71 year old man! He will NOT go back. This is not how you treat customers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This restaurant was a disgrace to Mexican food. We ordered the Pedro's Nachos, and two of the two enchilada lunch specials with a chile relleno. Our order came out and the nachos were drenched in a milky thin cheese sauce, they were soggy and salty, and had no beans. The enchiladas were ok but had to be sent back because they brought me ground beef instead of chicken, and again no beans, which I ordered. The waiter then told us that they were out of beans! It was 2'oclock in the afternoon. The guacamole was obviously Packaged and not fresh, and the enchilada sauce was basic tomato sauce with no spice at all. What Mexican restaurant runs out of beans at 2 o'clock in the afternoon? The chips were ok, but the salsa tasted like it was Ortega salsa from the jar. We did speak to the manager who insisted everything was freshly made. Will not be going back. read more

I have never been to a restaurant as many times as I have been to Pedro's, and manage to leave completely satisfied every time. When the Vernon location opened back a few years ago, I first visited the location with my husband as this was something completely new and exciting in the area. I remember looking up reviews online, but since the restaurant was brand new, there weren't any. No big deal, we decided we were going to try it for ourselves anyway. On our first visit, I was astounded by the amount of decorations as we first walked in: sombreros, serapes, piñatas, maracas! I mean this place was loaded, and not with the cheap Oriental Trading type of decorations, I'm talking authentic, straight from Mexico decorations, and it was CLEAN. (And by clean, I mean SPOTLESS.) We were seated promptly by a hostess, and immediately greeted with a mound of tortilla chips and salsa by our waitress. (Now this visit was back before they served any alcohol, so we got two sodas.) We ordered the fajitas with beef, chicken, and shrimp for the both of us, as we really just wanted to get a lay of the land. I agree with Tom, we didn't really expect that much meat, but when our plate came out it was beyond loaded with all three! It was also served with a heaping serving of rice and beans, a salad, and tortillas. Yes, we were only given 2 tortillas, but we really didn't need anymore! My guess is the chef knows that because you're getting so much of the other stuff, you won't need any more tortillas. Everything that came with that order complemented everything else so perfectly, it was hard to believe. The fajitas were cooked perfect, juicy and tender, the rice and beans were warm, and the tortillas were given to us in tin foil so they'd stay warm while we were busy eating the other stuff! Needless to say, we left full and satisfied. Coming back onto Yelp for other restaurant reviews, I stumbled across Pedro's and am absolutely shocked by all the terrible reviews! So I decided, it's finally time to chime in with everyone. Over the past two years they've been open (give or take a few months), I have visited both the NEW New Hartford location as well as the Vernon location with various members of my family. Each and every time, not only do I leave full (with a box of leftovers for lunch tomorrow), but every family member I've brought along with me is completely overjoyed. This restaurant is exactly what central New York needed. The portion sizes are still what I experienced on that very first visit, the restaurant is still spotless, and even better, they've expanded to serving alcohol! Who doesn't love a good margarita with Mexican food? And the prices for these drinks are easily $1-$2 cheaper than any place around, and they are much, much better! In my opinion, don't doubt a restaurant simply for the reviews, especially a place like Pedro's. Go try it for yourself and I guarantee you won't leave disappointed. read more
