I played a season of women's league soccer here. My team was full of rookies, myself included, so…read morewe didn't set the bar too high for our success. Registration for the team was done online and wasn't too complicated. Before our first game we had to obtain players cards - the process was easy and only took a few moments. It was also easy to get another later in the season when I lost my original one (whoops!). You are required to give the card to the employee out of the field before the start of the game so they know that every player on the turf is registered. We played the full season and our games ranged from around 6PM to as late as 10PM. 10PM is brutal especially during winter. It was freezing outside and freezing inside. No matter their efforts the field area is still quite cold. My team and I warmed up in the bar area but a dedicated warm up space would be really nice as the bar area was quite crowded most times and made finding a place to stretch hard. We didn't have any of our games rescheduled so I appreciated that as I was worried we may face that concern. Luckily our schedule remained the same throughout the season. I will say as a new player the inconsistent refs were a challenge. One game a penalty would be called, the next nothing. One game they would add players based on the time elapsed and the score, they next they would tell us that only happens in the children's leagues. Not very helpful for those of us brand new to the game and trying to learn the rules and flow. I will say what I appreciate the most about this place is how understanding they were. I was asked to play on a team the following season and after one game realized it wasn't a smart move for my foot. I called and explained my situation and the employee was nice enough to refund my money for the season and let me off the hook of playing. That was very kind. I got a check in the mail about a week after I called and I was grateful for how easy they made it. I appreciate the customer service and it kind of out weighs the awkward parking, cold field and inconsistent refs.

At the end of the month I felt much improvement. The facilities are fantastic! In the Physical Therapy part the equipment is top notch and the staff keeps all the tables and machines sterilized after each use. The other parts of the Sportsdome looked very intriguing for use as a year-round practice facility. There was soccer practice field, a 3/4 size football field, basketball courts, volleyball courts, golf practice area, baseball facilities, plus other areas that we were unable to see. There were tables outside of the practice areas so the parents could sit and watch the children practice through large glass floor to ceiling windows. They even have a snack bar with alcohol sales for the parents to pass the time while waiting for their kids to finish. Reno really needed this kind of facility to give the youth somewhere to practice yearly. It's nice to have the rehab facility right there if a child gets injured.

I attended a Nevada Wolfpack football game here at MacKay Stadium located in Reno, NV. Nevada plays…read morein the Mountain West Conference which boasts some pretty good football schools. For this game, they went out of conference and played Georgia Southern. It was competitive the entire way with Georgia Southern winning by a field goal. MacKay Stadium's capacity is 30,000 seats. Although it was announced that attendance was 15,000 for this game, I'd be confident in saying they'd be lucky if there were even 10,000 fans. Basically it was just choose any seat anywhere. It didn't matter. I bought a ticket on TickPick for $12 and sat one half on the Nevada side of the field and the 2nd half at the visiting Georgia Southern side. For a 4pm game in early September, the sun started setting in the 2nd half facing the Georgia Southern sidelines which had fans putting their hands in front of their eyes for most of the 4th quarter. The game atmosphere was pretty relaxed, too calm for my preferences. It felt more like a casual Saturday taking your family to a picnic rather than feeling like an electric college football type setting. Gates opened 90 minutes before kickoff. In the southwest section of MacKay Stadium sits a cool monument of a pack of wolves together which was fun for taking a photo with. Otherwise, walking around didn't offer much. Beneath the stadium scoreboard had fans sitting on the grass and listening to the pregame show being broadcast live. There's a track that separates the stands and the field. Still, fans are allowed to walk around MacKay Stadium at eye level at any point during the game. After the national anthem was sung, they had a fireworks celebration and a flyover from the armed forces military here in Reno. This could have been my favorite part about what MacKay Stadium had to offer. Picture taking was pretty hard. Being from out of town and wanting a memorable photo, the stands didn't rise high enough to snap pics looking down on the entire field, especially from the home Nevada sidelines. Mostly all seating was bleacher style benches, which is normal in college football. Something else I noticed that could be insignificant to others but I found relevant was...at the end of the 3rd quarter and start of the 4th, the game was still very close and MacKay Stadium didn't have any hype music to get fans involved to cheer on Nevada for the home stretch. It was so quiet and the 4th quarter started without having the fans getting involved. That was a letdown for me. Lastly, I couldn't find anywhere to buy parking online. When I arrived on campus, I just found a spot on a side street about 1 mile away from the stadium and walked over to the game. In the end, MacKay Stadium is fine as a college football venue. I wanted more out of the game day experience. I could see if you're a local, there being more worthwhile ways to spend a Saturday in Reno.

The food and drink prices are absolutely ridiculous but that's the standard at these places and especially in Reno with all the California immigrants. They ended up winning the game! It gives both the kids and the adults to come together for the adults to hang out and the kids to get their energy out. When the kids had a later morning class it was nice because the lunch items would be offered so we would have lunch right after soccer. However the past few seasons it's been earlier and earlier. We still make it a habit to hang out afterwards for all parties. They serve alcohol at all times while they are open where my husband and our friend bought a glass of beer to drink during one of the classes for those rough mornings! The sportsdome is a nice alternative for sports from being outside offering a big field, practice field (both turf), basketball courts which can also serve as volleyball courts or even for use for soccer sprouts a time or 2. Sometimes the facility can be very busy as there can be different sports simultaneously happening at the same time in all areas, so parking may be limited, but the parking lot is large you should not have much trouble finding parking. Ladies Bathrooms are also clean. They offer ladies and men as well as family bathrooms located across from the basketball courts. I always see them being clean. All in all, the facility is pretty tidy and offer many trash cans so you can throw away your trash without having to walk far away.

Usually if you fight in a game you're not allowed to play and are suspended but if you're family rules don't apply to you! As for the fields they're always in terrible conditions because they do tend to have bailes, events, parties, anything really the night before games which leaves them little time for a quick clean up which really doesn't do much.
