Mackay Stadium is located on the University of Nevada campus. The parking is plentiful and gives easy access to the events. The seating is comfortable & provides excellent views to the field. We were there to enjoy the 4th of July excitement. The sound system, lighting & concessions helped make our visit a positive experience. Don't hesitate to take advantage of Mackay Stadium read more

Since this was my first event at Mackay Stadium, I wasn't aware that VIP tickets needed to be printed in color. There was a slight bit of confusion at the security gate during check-in. Fortunately, I had taken a screenshot of my tickets, which allowed security to verify my VIP access, and everything was quickly resolved. We tried stadium's TOTchos while taking in the Red, White and flight festivities; pretty tasty. One tip for future attendees: allow yourself some extra time when leaving, as exiting the parking lots after the event can take a while. read more

I attended a Nevada Wolfpack football game here at MacKay Stadium located in Reno, NV. Nevada plays in the Mountain West Conference which boasts some pretty good football schools. For this game, they went out of conference and played Georgia Southern. It was competitive the entire way with Georgia Southern winning by a field goal. MacKay Stadium's capacity is 30,000 seats. Although it was announced that attendance was 15,000 for this game, I'd be confident in saying they'd be lucky if there were even 10,000 fans. Basically it was just choose any seat anywhere. It didn't matter. I bought a ticket on TickPick for $12 and sat one half on the Nevada side of the field and the 2nd half at the visiting Georgia Southern side. For a 4pm game in early September, the sun started setting in the 2nd half facing the Georgia Southern sidelines which had fans putting their hands in front of their eyes for most of the 4th quarter. The game atmosphere was pretty relaxed, too calm for my preferences. It felt more like a casual Saturday taking your family to a picnic rather than feeling like an electric college football type setting. Gates opened 90 minutes before kickoff. In the southwest section of MacKay Stadium sits a cool monument of a pack of wolves together which was fun for taking a photo with. Otherwise, walking around didn't offer much. Beneath the stadium scoreboard had fans sitting on the grass and listening to the pregame show being broadcast live. There's a track that separates the stands and the field. Still, fans are allowed to walk around MacKay Stadium at eye level at any point during the game. After the national anthem was sung, they had a fireworks celebration and a flyover from the armed forces military here in Reno. This could have been my favorite part about what MacKay Stadium had to offer. Picture taking was pretty hard. Being from out of town and wanting a memorable photo, the stands didn't rise high enough to snap pics looking down on the entire field, especially from the home Nevada sidelines. Mostly all seating was bleacher style benches, which is normal in college football. Something else I noticed that could be insignificant to others but I found relevant was...at the end of the 3rd quarter and start of the 4th, the game was still very close and MacKay Stadium didn't have any hype music to get fans involved to cheer on Nevada for the home stretch. It was so quiet and the 4th quarter started without having the fans getting involved. That was a letdown for me. Lastly, I couldn't find anywhere to buy parking online. When I arrived on campus, I just found a spot on a side street about 1 mile away from the stadium and walked over to the game. In the end, MacKay Stadium is fine as a college football venue. I wanted more out of the game day experience. I could see if you're a local, there being more worthwhile ways to spend a Saturday in Reno. read more

Not the best college football stadium that I've been to but for its purpose, it serves a purpose. I'd definitely say that there are, most likely, high schools in Texas that have bigger stadiums. The food and drink prices are absolutely ridiculous but that's the standard at these places and especially in Reno with all the California immigrants. They ended up winning the game! (Or should I say that Sacramento State ended up losing the game.) Overall, it's not bad. Just not my favorite stadium to watch a game. read more

We went here for the first time to watch a game against Tennessee. I loved the atmosphere here! Fans were energetic, the bathrooms were clean and the workers seemed to enjoy their job at the food stands and check in lines. The bleachers were also clean underneath and didn't have trash flying all around. I will definitely be back to watch another game and cheer on the Wolfpack! read more

I'm having so much fun at UNR this year! A lot of enthusiasm surrounds activities at Mackay Stadium during football season especially. Tailgating is no exception. But being very supportive of a family member that is attending this year does not include a Keg Stand! Try as they might, I managed to escape that embarrassing experience!!! This is a wonderful facility and so far have attended a few games. They have great food kiosks and beverage of the alcohol nature as well. Go Wolf Pack!!!!! read more

Mackay Stadium Isn't the largest or most updated College football stadium but I believe it may have some of the most loyal/friendly fans! I attended my first football game in November 2022. It was a bitterly cold evening game with blowing snow. I watched as fans started lining the metal bleachers with blankets & winter gear. Luckily, I sat in a suite (indoor and outdated) but warm with great views of the field. People love Nevada Football and it shows! #gopack read more

Not a bad stadium, access ok, fun, seems like a high school stadium, if you are in the area it is worth a ticket.

There's always a first for everything! This was my 1st time at Mackay Stadium. It was also my first time at a college football game. This college's stadium made a great first impression on me. So much so, that I'll have to come back & watch another game. Tons of parking everywhere. I parked near the football stadium, a little past the baseball fields. It wasn't a far walk to the stadium from my car. As I was walking to the game, I noticed that a lot of students were tailgating in the nearby parking lot right next to the stadium. It's cool that the college students show up to the games & show support for their school (and maybe get a little tipsy in the process.)(; One of the only inconviences I experienced was having to take my clutch purse back to my car. It was supposedly too big. Even though it was within the size requirements which was 4x6. I wasn't allowed in until I took it back. Once I got into the stadium, the first thing I noticed was the huge bleachers ! I couldn't believe how tall they were. The bleachers looked as if they had an endless amount of stairs. There were plenty of places to sit to get a good view of the game. During half time, I went down to see what kind of food they had. It was awesome to see that there were different vendors at the game. I was expecting there to be a little snack bar with little to choose from. Boy, was I wrong. There was a popcorn stand, a caramel apple stand, a pizza stand, a bbq stand, a beer stand & then 2 different snack bars that served food & beer. Also, people will walk around the bleachers throughout the game to sell cotton candy & drinks. After looking through to see what my options were, I chose to go the Bbq route. Famous Dave's ribs are what I ordered. With a side of their home made mac n' cheese. Dave's makes some of the most lip- smackin' finger-lickin' food around! I would recommend them to anyone who likes good old fashioned Bbq. It was nice to not have to leave & miss part of the game when we got hungry. All we had to to was go downstairs to find some yummy food. I really don't know what I enjoyed more. The game or the food at the game! Either way, I'll be back here for both. read more

I live Nevada football and am a season ticket holder. The games are great to watch fucking audio in the stadium absolutely sucks. Can not hear a single referee call because they play music over announcements from the field and the refs. I hope to give the stadium a better rating later. read more

This stadium offers lots of nostalgia for us UNR folks. I went to the first game of the season since The pandemic and for the announcement of the new hall of fame inductees. Kap was there this evening! Overall it was a good experience, but I forget how little leg room you get in the seats concessions were pricy and stale also. It was a $130 evening between 4 beers, a pretzel, a hot dog and 2 mid level tickets. Good for a once in a while outing- I'm sure season passes are a better deal. read more

I attended the UNLV vs UNR football game in the general admission section on 10/14/2023. There was a narrow choke point that forced people to squeeze past each other to get to our seats or to go from out seats to the restroom and/or concession stands. But the biggest problem I had there by far was the lackluster security. I took my parents to the game and we all had to leave at the beginning of the 4th quarter because a bunch of thugs started a massive brawl to my right in our area of the stands. The security was too weak to get control over the situation and more people got involved in the brawl, many of them because they were innocent bystanders who ended up getting hurt as the brawl escalated. There also were no metal detectors screening fans as they were entering the stadium. One would think that after the brawl that occurred in 2019 that was after a UNLV vs UNR game and that involved both fans and players that they would have had stronger security at games going forward, but this apparently was not the case. My parents and I all enjoyed the part of the game that we were able to watch, but they need to make sure that the experience is not ruined for anyone by gangbangers, drunks, and other fools. read more

How has this place not been added to Yelp? Home of the Wolf Pack football team. This stadium is smaller than most college stadiums but still a good size. Stadium seating at it's finest. Lost of merchandise and food/beer vendors. Most seats have a great view of the field. It's small enough you feel right in the action but big enough to give you the big game feel. Bathrooms aren't in the best shape, or the cleanest, but are they ever at stadiums? Parking is fairly easy with lots of campus parking all around (free for football games). You can arrive before the game and tailgate w/ plenty of room to spare. Exiting after a game is time consuming, but it always is for college events. Overall, a great place to watch the Wolf Pack football team bring home a victory!! read more

This place is a dump. The sound system is outdated. The lay out is all wrong. Concessions and bathrooms are missed placed. The tickets are over priced. Fans are rude and obnoxious. This stadium needs a much needed face lift. Not impressed. read more

A ton of fun for the whole family... seats are affordable and the atmosphere isn't too crazy. No matter where you sit, the view is good. We also haven't had any negative experiences with other fans which is really nice. Hoping to go to many more events here! read more

I hadn't ben to a Wolf Pack football game in at least a year so I was pleasantly surprised when we sat down to watch Nevada beat UNLV last week. They have added a new digital scoreboard as well as an electronic scoreboard/advertising strip that runs along the east side of the stadium. New seats wtih blue backs have been added on both the east and west side of the stadium. Silver bleachers still exist on both end zones. I like the Silver and Blue combination. There are plenty of concessions under the stands at the south end zone. Plenyt of room for tailgating at the north end of the stadium and I even noticed a bounce house for kids. As with most venues, you cannot bring food or drinks from the outside with the exception of a sealed bottled water. read more

I attended the WSU vs Nevada game at the stadium and here are my gripes. First, it is a long way up to the seats at the top of the stadium while all the bathrooms and beverages are at grade. The scoreboard has a TV but it isn't HD. The quality is so bad it would almost be better if they didn't have it. I had a water bottle with me for the day because it was hot in the desert. They wouldn't let me take an empty water bottle into the stadium so I lost a prized possession. And last but not least, Nevada won. On the bright side, their fans were nice and I wish them luck with the rest of their season. read more

This is a pretty good stadium for a small town D1 team without much of a following. I will say that I am a fan of the pack and have loved watching them hit and occasionally knock off a few of the upper level D1 guys. The stadium itself is cold and its in a city that can get cold. So make sure you bring a seat cushion, blankets, and wear appropriate attire. Especially if its been snowing, I would suggest getting some ski clothes. The view of the field is great for sports. However I have also enjoyed seeing fireworks and other things here as well. PRO TIP: Be ready for the weather and wind etc... depending on season. Parking hasnt been bad here. It is on a college campus after all... I think that the bathrooms are typical and nothing special but not the worst I have seen at a stadium. However I suggest if your team is in town to play UNR it is worth a trip. All of the seats are fairly close with good line of sight and the stadium doesnt hold a ridiculous number of people. read more

Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Mackay Stadium and Chris Ault field. Home of the Wolf Pack, where the colors bleed Silver and Blue!!! Now Nevada isnt a big school, and it might not have the loyal fans of the bigger schools, but the fans that watch the games, are very passionate Wolf Pack fan. It holds around 33,391, but its never gets that crowed, until you show up for the rivialary game against the little rebels from the south, Then you have a full stadium. Doesnt matter where you sit, pretty much you can see the game everywhere.. The price is right, and for season tickets, you cant beat it.. Plenty of concession stands, yes you have your typical hot dogs and nachos, but they also have famous daves bbq port of subs, and fat burger. Also we serve beer. But one beer per person. But still worth it.. Depending when the game is playing it could be either hot or cold, so always be prepared for nevada weather, which means it could change in the matter of minutes or hours.. So if your in Reno and your looking for a good game to watch come up to Mackay Stadium its literally less then half a mile from the casinos.. Also there is a family section.. I been going to football games at Mackay Stadium now for 15 ish years, and I have a blast every time.. No matter what WIN or lose, sun, snow or rain.. Ill be there to cheer my Wolf Pack on.... read more

The behavior of the home team students was horrible. My wife, mother-in-law and I attended the Oct 4 Boise game, and the obscenities shouted at the Boise fans were unbelievable. A constant stream of falling-down-drunk (literally!) "students" passed by our seats in Section M shouting things you would not believe. It was embarrassing and disgusting. We have attended many, many college games at many, many venues and we have never, ever seen anything close to this. UN Reno, you should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

The stadium is an oversized high school football field. Metal bleachers... Need I say more? The concessions are underneath the bleachers. What a shame for a FBS team to play in such a dump. Yet they still can get $30+ per ticket? Where's it going? Oh yeah... The fans are rude. read more

I'm a Notre Dame/ Ohio State football fan living in Sacramento but was in Reno and decided to check out the Reno vs Hawaii football game. You wolpack fans are great. The stadium is decent for what it is. I mean of course they won't have a stadium like Notre Dame or Ohio State but they are a mid card type of team. Nevada destroyed Hawaii and I loved joining in on the wolfpack chants. I just had an overall great time. Oh and those hot dogs and nachos were awesome. They have fatburger and famous daves on deck. I will be back next season when it's warmer. Nevada is like my 3rd team now. I kinda like this little football team. read more
