Had a horrible experience taking PTE exam. I won't recommend taking PTE exam at this center as their equipment such as headphones are in really bad shape. It was a struggling experience especially during speaking section as they made everyone sit very close even though they had enough room. This is a horrible, horrible company. I was sick and could not drive for 3 hours to take my PTE. I went to the doctor and got a signed letter with the date and reasons I could not attend this test, and pearson refused to give me a refund. I called customer service I explained this was extreme financial hardship and they were rude, angry, and did not care. I am out close to $300. NEVER test with this center, they will take advantage of medical hardship with zero understanding or care for your situation. read more

I guess I shouldn't dock the place if I don't like the rules since they don't make the rules, but I think it's a little bit ridiculous. I will have to say, the fact that they're in some random office building is weird. You should definitely come here in advance before you take any tests to familiarize yourself with the area. Their bathrooms are also OUTSIDE of the testing center and when you only have an 8 minute break computer to computer side ... you really have to bust out in a run after you get let out in the room to use the restroom. Their lockers are ok, but the keys are ... burdensome and don't work out as well. They're pretty good sized though I was able to fit my entire purse in. Came here for my FP&A test. It's in a small building with no large signs outside, so trust your google map and don't turn into the wrong building. The test center is on the first floor. There is restrooms very close by. When you go in, make sure to check in with one of the workers and get a number, wait for your number to be called to get admitted, then store your personal items in the free lockers, and get in the line to start your test. Workers are in general very friendly and gentle. They probably understand that people are nervous for their test. Right before you go in, they specifically check if you have any bluetooth devices with you, so... don't cheat, and good luck!! read more

Even this place has a listing on Yelp? Wholly molie Batman! Well, I'll give it a review as it doesn't look like it's overloaded with them. Came here this morning for a test. Yes, this morning and I'm already writing a review. When I tried to open the door it was locked, but they had had a bell and a camera you look into and then they let you in. Their offices is full of worker ladies and they are all very nice and professional while they take your palm prints to make sure you are who you say you are. They even make you spell your name in case you might be an imposter! So if you're an imposter or alien, don't come here as they try very hard to make sure you're who you say you are. There is a security screening, just to make sure you're not carrying any notes, or anything that might give you an edge over your the other test takers! It needs to be fair dagnambit! You then take your test on a computer in a room with dozens of computer stalls and then you leave! That's pretty much it! Oh and they even give you earmuffs in case you're bothered by the noise. When I came here to take my nursing boards, I was stupid and didn't know I had to bring a piece of paper that said I was authorized to test. So, I show up and they don't want to let me take the test that I paid $200 for. Dammit. I thought I was going to have to reschedule, and pay another $200...but luckily, the woman was really nice and said she would give me 30 minutes to get home and print out my paperwork. So, I did just that and arrived back to the center where I was allowed to test. Yay for me. Keep in mind if you are going to test here, they are crazy strict. They want your cell phones turned off and everything goes into a locker except your ID. You have to be fingerprinted in order to enter. You only get a little whiteboard to make notes on, and you can't erase. You have to raise your hand to get a new whiteboard. The rules are slightly insane. read more

This is my third time coming here today, all for board licenses. The place itself it nothing out of the ordinary as far as testing centers are concerned. It is on the first floor and is in a business building. For males at least, when walking to the test center there is a bathroom right before going to the testing center. Convient to go to the restroom before the start of the exam. Going into their office space there are two door that lead to the same room, why I don't know. There is at least one person sitting as a reception/checking someone in. Side note - please be prepared walking in, having your ID out and being prepared does speed up the process. People who are unprepared shouldn't be taking the test. Checking is almost as important as the actual test. I have been stuck behind someone who couldn't find their ID or forgot it. As someone who already has the exam jitters, getting stuck behind someone and prolonging the beginning of your exam is infuritating. You tell the receptionist your last name and what test you're taking along with your ID. The palm scan don't mess up or the employees there get irritated. Like, I do this every day like you do. They are more serious here than another Pearson site I have been to in the past. Before the test begins they tell you to turn off your phone, pick a locker and process to the testing area. The test administrators essentially do the same things, check if anything is in your pockets and then another palm scan. After all of this, the exam can begin and you sit at a computer to do your thang. The computers are all Dells, pretty much all business computers. It can get a little frustrating sitting next to someone who plays the piano with the keyboard or is a constant sniffler. They give small ear plugs or there are big headphones to try and silence everything around you. Overall the employees do their thing. Some can be more curt than others, while some are nice. Just depends on who you get. Speaking to one of the employees, the best time to go and take your test is after lunch in the middle of the week. Makes sense, most people want to get it done in the morning and before noon. read more

4 stars for the testing center, not the actual 7.5 hr test I had to take. Located in a business area. Ample parking. Room 108. Right down the hall from the testing center is the bathroom. When you step into the testing office, grab a number and the ladies will give you information to read about the rules of the exam. Your number will be called and you will have both hands scanned and picture taken then you can put your belongings into the locker. They also provide ear plus, kleenex, and headphones. I grabbed ear plugs but only ended up using the noise-cancellation headphones. They definitely cancel out all the mouse-clicking noises and the humming of the computers. The testing ladies are very helpful and greet you with a smile each time! If you need food you can find a shopping plaza with plenty of fast food a mile or so down McCarthy. read more

Testing is no fun, but this is a nice place to do it. It's easy to get here from 880 (a couple miles off the Tasman/Great Mall exit), and it's located in a business park so there's lots of parking (no worrying about meters). The testing office is inside the building on the first floor, not in one of the offices located around the perimeter accessed by the parking lot, and is close enough to the bathroom (a couple feet right down the hall). Everyone was very professional, cheerful and eager to help and make your testing process nonstressful and easy. When you arrive there's a brief check-in before being escorted to a station in a room with several other testers, with noise canceling headphones and earplugs available. I was impressed with how quiet the rooms were, the only noise was occasional typing and a slight humming from the AC. The desks were a nice size, and the chairs were comfy. I was worried there wouldn't be scratch paper since it's a computer test, but there was plenty of space for calculations on the plastic sheets/marker they give you. If you need more space for scratch-paper they'll bring you more. Great! The lockers to keep your items during testing (seriously, you're only gonna keep your driver's license in your pocket, everything else, even car keys, goes in here) are located right in the office and seem very secure. I deducted one star because the confirmation email from them said they required two pieces of ID, and when I got there they only needed one. It's sort of a hassle to locate/find something other than a driver's license if your passport isn't available, so it's disappointing they'd make someone go to all that work when it's not even required for certain tests. read more

The location has moved, it's now in Milpitas, used to be in San Jose. Very nice and professional staff. I had to take off my med alert allergy bracelet, which is weird, but nobody was going to give me sulfa antibiotics during the test so I guess it wasn't a big deal. It was comfortable. It SUCKED that some people taking the test were typing and pounding on their keyboards, it was really distracting. I get different tests are going on at the same time but that was ridiculous. Anyway, easy parking, easy to find, no problems. And as I predicted I was back 8 years after my last review, minus a few days. I'll be back in 2027. read more

I felt like I had to comment since most of the reviews seem to be out-of-date (or from the older location). Yelp should have an erase function for those when something moves...anyway. The facility itself was nice. Plenty of parking, the building is in a business park so it's really quiet. I got a nice shady parking spot so my car wasn't boiling after I got out of my 4-hour test. The restrooms were very clean and had several stalls, which is great because everyone taking one of these tests is nervous and doesn't want to waste time waiting in a bathroom line. The test center itself is right down the hall from the restrooms. It's super quiet and clean. The waiting area was very clean and modern (a bit sterile, I suppose...but it's a testing center, not a nail salon!). Every staff member I encountered (at least 4) was friendly, polite, and professional. They understand that taking tests is a stressful situation and that people are freaking out when they show up, and they do a great job of making you feel as relaxed as you possibly could be. Yes, there are crazy rules about not bringing anything into the test. But when I registered for my test, I was told all of this information multiple times, so I was prepared for it. They fingerprint you, palm-print you many times, have you take off your watch, turn off your cell phone, etc. You get a locker to store your stuff in, so don't worry if you have stuff with you. The testing cubicles were private and quiet. They provide you with earplugs if you want them (the good kind) and also noise-canceling headphones. I went with the noise-canceling headphones because I didn't want to be distracted by clicking of keyboards in the room. I was given an erasable notepad to use as scratch paper (yay for saving the environment...) and it had many pages in it, so that you don't have to raise your hand and get a new one every 5 minutes. I never ran out of space. They also gave me a calculator so I didn't have to use the on-screen one. It was overall the best possible testing experience I could have had, despite the actual test itself which was difficult and left me thinking I had failed! ;) So if you are considering taking a test at a Pearson center, I highly recommend this one. read more

Came here to take my NCLEX earlier this month. Just thought I'd write a review. The staff was great. Everyone was friendly and patient. Even worked with me to take my test an hour early. The room temp wasn't bad. Not too hot not too cold. Seating was comfortable. Computers were easy to navigate. My only complaint is that I wish each cubicle was a bit more isolated, but I guess that's how all pearson testing sites goes from my understanding. Without the ear plugs and the head set, I would've had trouble taking my test bc I can hear the folks 3 cubicles away typing loudly as I took my test. Great experience. It's easy to find. The neighborhood is safe and clean. Not off a busy street. Public transportation is nearby. I recommend. read more

San Jose location on McCarthy Blvd worked well. You need to buzz at the lobby door to be let in. Well Organized, nothing fancy. Quiet. All items you bring must be stored in provided lockers with locks and keys. Center provided noise canceling headphones and ear plugs which I didn't need to use. Provided pen and erasable plastic pad with several pages for scratch paper. Older style keyboard, but works fine. Will be back for next test. read more

This is an updated review. The center was easy to find and the people were helpful with the exception of Rikki who I had the misfortune to meet at the completion of my exam. She yelled at me for not knowing my "sponsor" when I had called her to schedule the exam. I had just completed my exam and was trying to leave when she discussed with me how she had a room full of people the day I called, other " boards" that she knew of that they tested there, how the paperwork for my particular exam arrived a day after my phone call, how someone was laughing at her while she was trying to help me on the phone, blah blah blah. I simply explained that it was the job of the testing center to know which exams they administer. The test takers had no way of knowing there was some special sponsor company for the test. She said if I had come in with paperwork to make my appointment it would have been easier. It makes no sense to have people physically come in for this. Once they fire Rikki (aka attack lady) they could go up a few stars. Talk about adding stress to an already stressful time! The center could be quieter and more sound proof. One could hear the people talking immediately outside the testing room. Also, I found the proctors open dislike of the pictures in my exam to be a large component of where we were seated, ie where they didn't have to see the pictures. Funny. read more

I applied for a job at Pearson for a testing job but, frankly, I find the staff there so unprofessional. I went in for supposedly pre-training online and then was given a test to see my aptitude, which was not at all logical since then the person in charge Ramiell said that I would be starting training. So, why was I given a test before training? Of course I didn't pass it, and their computer's online information was all so difficult to comprehend since, the program was always signing me out! And then why did they get all my personal information ahead of time, when it should be done while in training. It was all so unprofessional that I was told to go online as if I was being treated like a guinea pig, to see how their tests are in aptitude, for their purposes only. I think it is a sham the way they treat their testing people. It made me feel like I was so illiterate since I didn't pass their stupid test! I gave them 6 hours of my time and was never told where to fill out a time sheet and now they are emailing me all sorts of resignation papers, because I did not accept this position. I appeared for Pearson PTE-A exam at this center. There was a serious issue with the headphones, I was hearing an echo with delay after I spoke. I made sure it was reported and even an incident was created by the test administrator Diane, prior to the exam. Since no technical help was available I had to appear for the test, but the speaking scores were not at all satisfactory. I did the follow up with Pearson PTE folks to consider my case and either let me re-appear or refund, but they didn't agree and said the test administrator confirmed they had the headphones functioning properly, which is contrary to why the incident was created. So, I don't recommend this testing center for PTE-A exam, the faulty headphones can screw up your results. read more

5 stars for the testing center, not the actual 4 hour test I had to take. Super well-run & professional. They've got everything down to a science - the check-in, the hand-scans, the proctoring, the earplugs/earmuffs, the lockers. Given how much stress I was under for the test and how time pressured it was completing the test sections, it was really appreciated that the staff knew exactly what they were doing and how to get me in and out of the breaks with minimal time wasted. On the same note, the easy parking was awesome - a major reason I chose this test center over one in SF city where I'd have to take 8 buses and trains to get there. The testing environment itself was also almost perfect (easy to concentrate). The earplugs + earmuffs combination makes you feel like you're in a remote cave away from civilization. read more

I took my RBT exam here. The people there are OK. One lady went through the instructions super fast, but they make sure you understand all of their regulations. I had to throw out my gum, which sucked, because it helps me think on exams. I guess it's because they don't want any noise; however, this is mainly why my testing experience was not ideal. Someone in the testing room was AGGRESSIVELY flipping pages from a book the entire time I was testing for. The noise-canceling headphones were not helpful, and it was extremely hard to focus. I was even covering my headphones with both hands trying to shut out the noise, but it didn't help. I had to keep re-reading questions over and over. I was wasting a lot of time doing this and rushed to finish at the end. They have so many rules and regulations to make sure you have a good testing environment, but I wish they would regulate noise inside the testing room. I realize I could have alerted someone at the time, but I didn't want to hurt that person's testing chance if they need to flip super fast to answer questions. Basically, I would request for the ear buds if I had to do it again, because you may actually need them with the headphones, in order to focus. read more

Going to take an exam is never fun! But the ladies here were really nice, and they helped calm my nerves! Note- you are not allowed to wear headbands! They will make you take it off and put it in a locker. You also have to get a palm vein scan whenever leaving the office. Very comfortable testing environment. Took the ChemE FE exam a few weeks ago and the front desk people know you're stressed so they're very calm and make all the logistics part as easy and quick as possible. Pictures shown here definitely help familiarize you with the area before you get there so you don't have to worry about not finding it. I got headphones and earplugs (didn't use them) but it was pretty darn quiet. Very helpful staff gave instructions on when I could take breaks and stuff like that. Couldn't have asked for a more relaxed environment and I HATE taking tests lol. read more

Pearson VUE head quarters in Minnesota have some of the most incompetent, hateful, and down right despicable human beings working in their customer service department... These people could care less about the person taking the test... Why, is it you have to take the test at there leisure, when there is endless amount of time slots available... Then call asking for a time change (2 hours later) knowing there are a ton of slots available and having them tell you that you have to pay again... They give you no resolution whatsoever... I have never been treated so poorly, thus far in my life, let alone in my own Country (U.S.A)... Something needs to be done and someone needs to regulate this Monopoly of a company called Peason-Vue... This has noting to do with my testing center location as workers there are great, always polite and accommodating... The review itself maybe a little harsh, but this is not the first time this has happen... Stay away from this place if you are taking the PTE-A exam. I had the same problem with the headphone that one of the previous reviewer had. Headphone has a huge echo with a delay when you speak. This is very distracting. Also, no matter how fast you speak the playback sound is slower. They use outdated computers and equipment. The administrator assured me that the echo will not have any effect but my actual speaking scores are really low. They are 20-25 points less than what I scored in the mock scored PTE tests. read more

I took my CBEST exam and was there for the entire 4 hours at one shot, no breaks allowed (due to exam rules, not the facility).. It was a very pleasant experience for an exam. The check in process was simple and the receptionist was very nice. I knew all the rules ahead of time so was prepared. I wore no jewelry, except my wedding ring, and brought only my ID. The place was easy to find (I live in Santa Cruz so I had a long drive) and there was plenty of parking. The area was very nice as well, mostly business parks. The testing area was very clean. They gave me ear plugs before entering so I took advantage of them and I did not hear anything else except my own thoughts. They gave me a large notebook of plastic paper and a sharpie so I had plenty of resources to take notes. I was worried about that because I had read about other facilities where this was a problem. I even wore an old shirt because I had read about another facility that made you wipe off a single white board with you sleeve because they did not provide a tissue or anything. Don't worry, this is not a problem here. This was a great experience and plan to take all of my CSET exams here as well. read more
