I came here on a long summer bike ride and it was a really nice place to stop. It's part of Waterperry Gardens, so there are lots of families and older people out for the day, but it's worth a visit in its own right.
There are sandwiches (on a plate with salad, not prepackaged) with delicious fillings, toasties which they'll heat for you, salads, quiche or meat dishes (of the light and healthy variety), and fresh soup of the day. I got soup, which at £4.50 was quite expensive but was delicious, thick and filled me up. It came with ciabatta bread, which was a nice change from the usual roll.
The best bit is, of course, the cakes. There are home made traditional English cakes, like carrot cake and flapjack, but also a patisserie section with more extravagant and creamy offerings. The drinks are expensive, but nice, and it's worth checking out their home pressed apple juice.
You can sit inside, but on a summer's day it's lovely sitting outside where the birds flutter around, or sitting on the grass round the back with a little tub of ice cream. read more
