When I think of Pear Tree Inns and their relation to Drury Hotels, winemaking comes to mind. Some prestigious wineries offer second or "off label" options: Same winery, even grapes from the same vines, but perhaps less rigorous and time-consuming procedures used for a bumper crop of grapes. In many cases, the off-label wine offers an excellent value to the consumer. Pear Tree Inn Sikeston strikes me as that sort of excellent value. The lofty open lobby and glass elevator, all by themselves, strike me as the sort of features I'd see in a more expensive hotel. High marks for parking, reception, room cleanliness, comfort, and Friday-night noise levels. Any complaints I have a minor: the chime of the elevator heard throughout the night as it stopped at each floor (possible because of the multi-level open lobby) and the Styrofoam plates / plastic utensils at breakfast. Front desk clerk was snarky, intrusive, and controlling. She referred to "her" hotel several times causing my husband to ask if she was the owner. She admitted that she was not. She asked for information we had already provided and then for additional information. She told us we could go stay at the hotel across the street when we questioned an additional fee. We were going to leave but she told us our reservation was non-refundable. Never using this hotel chain again. read more

Nice clean bathroom with soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispenser in the shower. (My eyes are old and it's hard to read those little bottles that are usually at motels) price was very fair especially with this crazy inflation going on! The breakfast was good too. This "Pear Tree Inn by Drury" is an older hotel that appears to get hand-me-down sheets, mattresses, towels, furniture, etc. from its neighboring (and nicer) parent hotel, The Drury Inn. Our king room was very tiny. It looked fairly clean on the surface, but the room corners were cruddy, the hardware (light switches, door handles) was a bit grungy, and the furniture was a little dusty in places. I may have higher standards than some when it comes to cleanliness. I didn't feel comfortable walking barefoot on the carpet in our room. The ladies at the front desk were friendly. As for comfort and quality sleep, the bed was okay. The shower was nice. Bathroom very tiny. This hotel allows pets for a $35 non-refundable fee (per stay). They offer a happy hour each evening, and a darn good breakfast. The Mexican restaurant next door is also delicious! read more

Why is it that no other chain does this? ** Free Popcorn For most of the afternoon and evening, there's a little popcorn machine that pops popcorn. You can get a bag and scoop some at your convenience. ** Shampoo/Conditioner Dispenser Can't say that I've seen this very often. This is a great idea! I imagine some people really like the idea of taking the little hotel shampoo bottles, so they may not find this as exciting, but me personally, they're more of a hassle. I have bad eyes, and did you know that Conditioner in some other language is "shampooning?" Sometimes I'll grab the bottle without my glasses and take what I think is shampoo, only to find that it's shampooning -- conditioner. Then I have to walk my wet naked butt out into the frigid A/C room to grab the right bottle. Stays the last the whole week end up having several bottles piling up in the corner of the shower, and then they fall over, and you're stepping on them...bla bla bla. THIS on the other hand, is so convenient! Not a fan of the soap dispenser... ** 3 Free Drinks/Night You get 3 free drinks every night from 5pm-7pm. By drinks I mean a small cup of Bud Light or a tiny glass of red/white wine. The wine's nasty, but hey, free alcohol is free alcohol. Plus, they have some chips and salsa for you as well. CONS ** No Outlets! Remember, that's the number not including the vanity/bathroom and without moving furniture. The only accessible outlet is under the desk, which is a poor place for a desk outlet, because that's probably for a laptop, and you have to crouch down to plug it in and pull it out. There are 2-3 outlets behind one of the end tables that I ended up using for my phones, though, but you do have to move the end table. ** Your kids will point to the TV and ask "What's that?" This generation of kids don't know what a walkman is, and pretty soon, they won't recognize a tube (CRT) TV. Obviously no HD here, but c'mon! 26" LCD TVs are pretty cheap! ** Room Needs a Refresh Granted, the TV REALLY makes things look old, but I think in general, the room reminds me of a Days Inn from the 80's. Now that I think of it, this room probably is a Drury Inn from the 80's! ** Desk Chair Sticks Out The chair for the desk (is an ugly dirty-looking dark green by the way) needs to be lowered all the way in order to tuck in under the desk, but if you sit like that, you sit too low to comfortably use a laptop. So, if the chair doesn't tuck all the way under the desk, it ends up blocking the path between the bed and the desk. So, if you're on the right side of the bed, you have to utilize this path to walk to the bathroom...and if it's dark, and you're 90% asleep, you will run into this chair at night. Ask me how I know! ** Soap Dispenser OK, the shampoo and conditioner dispensers are awesome! Every hotel should do that! However, soap (aka shower gel) dispenser is a stupid idea! Who the hell carries a loofah when they travel? (Actually, I imagine there are plenty that do..but still!). While shampoo bottles pile up in the corner at traditional hotels, soap doesn't. A bar of hotel soap (for just 1 person) will last you almost the whole week! Trying to lather this shower gel by hand just sucks. ** Lobby Has No Power Outlets Either The lobby looks like a nice quiet place to work. Especially with popcorn and a soda fountain, I can see myself getting serious work done (reminds me of college actually). However, if you're using anything electrical, you're SOL, because there are no power outlets near any of the seats; at least not that I could find. OTHER NOTES This used to be the Drury Inn, but now it's the Pear Tree Inn by Drury. The new hotel next to it is now the Drury Inn, and it's newer, bigger, and they offer cocktails and hot food during their happy hour. There's also a $40/night hotel called the Thrifty Inn, which is also by Drury, and all 3 of these share 1 big parking lot. I told our travel agent to book "The Drury Inn," and she got confused and booked the Pear Tree. Just FYI, all 3 are technically by Drury, but there is a specific Drury Inn, and Pear Tree is not it! read more

The billboards on I-55 state this is Sikeston's newest hotel. While on a roadtrip, we decided to try it (after the nearby Holiday Inn Express turned us away--no room at their inn). The published rate was around $99, but my husband got a discount with one of his memberships. This hotel is large, five floors. We checked in around 10 p.m., so we missed the free drinks at the hotel-sponsored happy hour, which end at 7:30 p.m. We liked the room. It was VERY large, and spacious, and of course, new. The breakfast was what has become rather standard, with the waffle-maker, hot foods and yogurt, fruit and cereal, etc. My husband commented that he really liked the scrambled eggs, and he "dressed them up" with diced ham and shredded cheddar. The free WiFi was GREAT, as there isn't even a password, making it easy to use two devices in one room. We didn't like the lack of supplied toiletries. In the bathroom, the hotel only supplied a shampoo-conditioner mix (blech) and bar soap, and nothing else, no lotion, body gel, etc. For $99 plus taxes per night, I would expect better than this. Also, the pillows were way too soft. My husband had a sore neck the next morning. I would stay here again, but I will bring shampoo! read more

Booked hotel online via priceline and was charged twice. Once by priceline and one by the hotel. I got into my room and the bathroom smelled like pee, extremely discussing I wanted a king bed and instead I was given a double. Free Pepsi drinks and snacks like chips and sauce and popcorn all day long. The breakfast was hot and more extensive than others I'd seen. 11 checkout. They gave us free drink tickets, but we don't drink beer or wine. Nice thought though. The downsides are:no fridge, super thin towels and we didn't realize until checkout there was a hotel inside (only saw the outside one and the rain was coming). Beds were very comfy to let me not forget that . Shampoo and body wash I'm showers awesome and right on time! I forgot my body wash in Ohio. My daughter and I flew from CA to drive with my mom from Houston to Toledo OH for my cousin who passed. Got a chance to stay here a few nights. Check-in was a breeze and the gentleman was very friendly. While we never made one of the social hours, they do serve adult beverages and finger foods @ happy hour. The adult limit is 3 drinks. My husband and I were driving to St. Louis but got tired and needed to find a place to lay our heads. We also needed to find a place that accepted pets. The pet fee was only $25 and the room was $75.00 plus tax. I called around midnight for pricing and availability. Ms Beth was soooo nice and pleasant, especially for it being so late. The rooms were nice and beds were comfy. We had free breakfast which was surprisingly good. The sausage patties, which are typically never good, were delicious. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I have stayed in several $200 a night hotels. This hotel staff strives for perfection. The food is good and the staff is friendly. The rooms are very clean. I have never stayed in a Drury hotel before and was skeptical because I didn't know the name. Now I will seek them out first before looking for another hotel. Totally ticked! I thought this was the Drury of the area and found when I got here that there was a "real Drury" next door. Favorite thing about this chain is the evening snacks and drinks. This place had ruffles, tortilla chips and salsa and pretzels. I went over to the "real Drury" where my coworker was staying, where they had the baked potatoes, chips and salsa, chicken fingers, nacho stuff and all the other items that a real Drury has. My room is small but clean. Smoking room. A little musky. Windows don't open and there isn't a fan. Breakfast was nice. Surely worth the price just a little disappointed. read more

Me and Steve hit the road for our spring break. Eschewing Key West [for this year, at least] we were headed for the Gulf Coast. Not so fast! bellowed Mother Nature. You gots to earn it. So She sent us a torrent of sleet, snow, freezing rain and other assorted nasties. Hours late, we limped in, strung out from the road, Well, the place was nice, people friendly, and accommodations adequate. My family always stay here for my family reunion in June, however we stayed here this past weekend for my Grandfather's funeral, while there we were rushing to get ready for the funeral, my fiancé misplaced his wallet in the room or he thought he misplaced it in my Mom's or my brother's hotel rooms and still couldn't find it so we went to the funeral and was going to replace the wallet, however my fiancé gets a phone call from the hotel after the funeral and they were saying that they found his wallet in the computer chair in the room, his wallet is black and so is the computer chair so we couldn't see it. So my fiancé and his Mom go back to the hotel after the funeral and the head maid, Helen had returned the wallet to the front desk and it was in the condition it was in nothing was missing, talk about being honest with us, we love this place and thank God my fiancé has his wallet back, thank you. read more

I had to spend the night here due to bad weather on my way home from Kennett. After spending several hours on 55 North in a deluge followed by pea sized hail, I found this place via my lovely TomTom GPS. Simply put, this place is awesome. Easy access to the highway & not to far from grocery stores & restaurants. I loved how they put their quiet times on the front desk. My room was truly awesome (king sized bed, small fridge & microwave). Although they do offer free breakfast, the times for this free meal weren't great for people like me who had to leave at 4:30 in the morning. I have never spent a night in Drury hotels before. I like this hotel since it is quite airy making me feel right at home. The thermostat & tv are a bit outdated (manual instead of electronic thermostat & no flat screen tv). Other than that, I felt comfortable. The bed was heaven for me. The alarm clock was way better than the one I have at home. read more

This place was great! We were unexpectedly displaced from our home while workers were dealing with a flooding issue. The staff was WONDERFUL, the breakfast was delicious, and the whole place was VERY CLEAN. We had our dogs with us and they even gave us extra blankets for them to lay on. Nice hotel and nice staff. The entry and lobby area was also very nice and well decorated. We had a king bed room on the 4th floor. Nice spacious, clean room. I think the carpet was new. I LOVE nice carpet in hotel rooms! When we checked in, we were given a free drink card to be used for your choice of beer or wine or both to be used from 5 to 7 p.m. (three drinks per person). They also had evening refreshments of soda and snacks of popcorn, pretzels, chips and salsa. The breakfast was nice - a selection of eggs, sausage, donuts, muffins, breads, biscuits and gravy, a waffle-making station, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, etc. I wanted to make use of the pool, but decided against it due to amount of teens, tweens, and kids in the pool area. The pool and area was not very large, though it is nice with an indoor part and an outdoor part. If we are in the area again, and stay overnight we will definitely stay here! read more
