My cousin just got married and the reception was at Pear Tree Estate. As of June, 2014, this place is only a few months old. It's a really excellent venue. Very large with high wood beam ceilings and lots of room to dine and dance. The servers were very quick to swoop in and pick up any used glasses and plates. (They did hijack my knife, which would have come in handy when the meat arrived.) The wedding feast included pork tenderloin and chicken breasts. Both were good, if not outstanding. My girlfriend raved about the salad, with its strawberries, goat cheese, candied pecans and white balsamic dressing. You can see their wedding catering menu here - http://lagourmetcatering.com/weddings/ Bartenders were fast and friendly. If you're having an event here, make sure to get the grilled cheese hors d' oeuvres. Maybe the best thing I've ever tasted at a wedding. The venue is beautiful but I have two criticisms. 1) The walls are all white, which makes for a very boring background for photos. There's a cool fireplace, but other than that, you may as well be taking passport photos. 2) The venue's big, flat, empty walls create something of an echo chamber. It was really hard to understand anything that was being said into the microphones. That said, if I knew someone getting hitched and having their reception at Pear Tree Estate, I'd be jazzed to go back.

I highly recommend Pear Tree as a venue and for catering. The food was delicious and the space is beautiful. We had our wedding here in the fall and it was lovely to have the venue surrounded by tall, dry corn. I still dream of the delicious mashed potatoes we had that night.

The Pear Tree Estate was very important to the success of our wedding experience. Highlights: - The AMAZING food. We were actually very averse to having chicken at our wedding, but their brined/smoked chicken was the unquestionable favorite of the guests. We also recommend the cornbread and goat cheese pasta. - The professionalism of the women who run Pear Tree. They responded quickly in the final weeks of planning and were accommodating in our adjustments in the last few days. - We felt very taken care of as the bride and groom. They brought us a plate of appetizers after the cocktail hour had concluded and brought us a drink when the bar had closed. - The venue was well acquainted with vendors in the wedding industry from the surrounding area. Their recommendations turned out very well, and the communication between the Pear Tree and the vendors was key. - The landscape was beautiful. Somehow, they arranged for our wedding day to have perfect weather as well :) Critique: There's only one. The amount of food distributed to the guests was a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, the Pear Tree did give the wedding party a large portion of leftovers at the end of the night.

We laughed, we cried, we sang along, I drank 6 dollar beers, I stood in line to go to the bathroom.. First off the theater is beautiful and older, It does have some nice updates and the smell of popcorn right when you walk in hit me pretty darn hard! I got my ticket on Stub Hub so the only staff members I experienced were the ushers and bartenders both who were fantastically kind. I love the Roger Ebert statue outside the theater a perfect intro to the theater and a perfect spot to take a thumbs up photo with everyone's favorite critic. I got 3rd row ticket for 15 buck on Stub Hub so my experience during the show was fantastic, but if you are hard of hearing I might actually sit up in the balcony cause it was pretty quiet where I was sitting. Seats were comfy and the sound was quiet but great! Bathroom situations in these old theaters is all the same, your going be waiting in line but once you get in, they are clean and nice! This was a fantastic experience.

This one of the few places I have not hit the unsubscribe button to. I want to know what is playing here. What they play at the theater is one of the reasons I am giving a 4 star rating. This is where I would love to watch all kind of classic movies or foreign films. That is just not what they play here. Maybe there is not an audience for those kinds of films. I remember checking their schedule once and it was all kids movies. I was fortunate enough to see Rushmore here. That was really amazing. Those are the kind of movies I would love to be watching here. Maybe some French New Wave or midnight movies. I know that Virginia Theatre's schedule is not dictated by my likes but I can always hope.

Brian made sure to meet with my husband and I ahead of the day to sort through wedding day details. Additionally, he made sure to check in throughout the reception to see if there was anything that should be changed or if we were liking how things were going. He was extremely attentive, energetic, and helped us and our guests have a great time. Highly recommend for your events!! Thanks, Brian!

Despite having multiple meetings and providing a detailed timeline, music list, and phonetic name pronunciations, several key things went wrong. The wrong song was played during the bridesmaids' walk down the aisle -- a moment we had clearly outlined and discussed more than once. The maid of honor's name was mispronounced during introductions, even though it had just been reviewed and was written out phonetically. Later, when my dress wouldn't bustle right before our first dance (scheduled for 8:15 -- still well within our contracted time until 11), the DJ stood nearby repeatedly asking, "How long will this take?" staring at me in a way that felt uncomfortable and unnecessarily pressuring, during what was already a stressful moment. While the songs we had requested were played during the cocktail hour and dancing, there was little to no crowd engagement, and the dance floor stayed mostly empty. It didn't feel like any effort was made to read the room or adjust. What truly pushed this over the edge was the complete lack of professionalism after the fact. I emailed the company -- addressing these issues in a calm, respectful way -- and never received so much as a reply or apology. For a company that claims to be experienced and professional, that kind of silence is unacceptable. Weddings are high-stakes, once-in-a-lifetime events. I expected better -- both in preparation and execution, and especially in follow-up. I would strongly caution others before booking with them.

Edit: Day 2 I went…read moredownstairs first thing this morning and voiced my complaints about room 311. I had the worst night sleep. AC wasn't working. Microwave didn't work. Every cord on the TV was disconnected and once I could get behind the dresser to plug literally every cord back into the TV and DVD, there was no signal. I asked for another room and the front desk lady was apologetic and able to get us into another room just down the hall. Awwww AC. TV. Working appliances. Great. My only complaint about this room, 319, is that they have obvious water damage in the ceiling. Nothing was dropping but it is moist, so it lakes recently and all I can do is hope there is no rain in the next 3 nights. The bed is comfortable. The towels are plush and soft and and they have nice bathroom amenities. I'll update a final review after our stay. Day 1: Not starting off on a good start. Got in late, August 17,2020 and our room 311 had no working TV and AC is not getting cold. I have young babies with us and they immediately went to sleep so nothing I can really do until tomorrow. I called the front desk and spoke with Cindy about the TV. She didn't really have a fix and I said tomorrow will be fine, but I'm going to need it working. There's a sign on AC saying it knows when we leaveso wait 15 minutes for thermostat to work. Well it's been an hour and it's still humid. And whatever the scent in the room is making me choke. Ugh it's going to be a long night.

We are very very upset with this hotel…read more We booked this room last year in October 2025 -very advance. And our rooms not ready and not available. They had to sent someone to check which rooms were booked so insane like don't they have a computer system that determines who has what room???? Very very strange and unprofessional. We ran a 5k today at 7:30 pm and tomorrow a 10k and it's 10 pm and we need a room and they are still looking for a room or rooms for us or a suite as we requested. They didn't have the any room we requested upon our arrival. And it it now 11 pm and they haven't been able to accommodate us. They are also trying to resolve another persons room but he's trying to cancel and leave and get his money back so he can go to another hotel. We are running a marathon tomorrow and it is now 11:20 pm and it's 4 of us and apparently the new employee made a mistake and gave our room to someone else. We are now at the lounge area and waiting to see what they can give us and we hope we get something good bc we need to rest. We need beds to sleep and rest for early wake up. After 35 minutes we finally got two separate rooms and so we took it because we are tired. We get to one room and that one is busy with other people stuff in it. While the other room was actually available and some had to be in one room while we waited for another room to be available so it has been a nightmare bc now the other employee arrived and has no idea what's going on so my sisters go down to explain. It's insane. They still had to go to several rooms to see I which ones were busy and free. So bad. We will now wait more for my sister to get a room to rest. Last resort we might have to squeeze 4 of us ourselves in a king bed bc this is ridiculous.
