Nuts of the crunchy and nutritious variety are available in full display and peanuts roasting in the open air is where you'll find the Peanut Dude at the Long Beach Farmers Market. I've since learned from the website that this peanut man does business in several local farmers' markets. I am hooked on the Peanut Dude's nuts. I am partial to his pecans and peanuts, but his cashews are very delicious, too. If you like your nuts blinged, you can get some designer nuts like lemon almonds, toffee cashews, hot fiesta mixes, wasabi peas, toffee peanuts, pepitas, pistachios, soy nuts and seeds....sunflower, pumpkin....and dried and candied fruits, mango, cranberries. The prices are reasonable and you can buy them by the pound or pack. No more sitting up with a bag of cheap pretzels or Doritos while watching a vintage episode of Soul Train. No. I now have less time for Fried Pork Skins and a fascinating episode of Cheaters and more time for Mystery on PBS with a bag of pecans. They provide toasty saturated protein, good fat, omega 3 (walnuts) and fiber. The Peanut dude offers many ways to get your fix when needed; online, or catch him at a Famers Market near you. Yep, I got more nuts yesterday! No, I didn't grow another set of gonads or fall into some sort of dementia, but bought three more varieties of nuts from the Peanut Dudes. First was the Chili Lemon Corn Nuts. The corn isn't as puffy as the commerically-available Corn Nuts(tm) you can get at the 7-11. They sure back a bit of a spicy kick, with a followup jab of lemony goodness. Ok, nuff fightin' references... Next was the Toffee Peanuts. Nothing really spectacular, other than a fresher taste than stuff you can get out of a can. I think they're a tad sweeter than stuff from the store, but I think that might be the freshness talking. Ok, nuff about being fresh (like the Prince of Bel Air)... Last was the Jalapeno Garlic Pistachios. Holy Jesus, Mother of God, these pack enough garlic to ward off Anne Rice's entire pantheon of vampires and enough jalapeno to bring a tear to Chuck Norris' eye. We all know that Chuck's tears can cure cancer, but these won't make him cry. Tasty, tasty tasty...I haven't had a third of the bag yet...just super-intense flavor. The Peanut Dudes have a great selection of both plain and flavored nuts. I went to their booth at the Long Beach Friday Farmer's Market downtown. (Just a note, they have a booth on both ends of the farmer's market so you can't miss them as long as you go all the way to one end or the other.) Nuts aren't my favorite thing in the whole world but I'm learning to like them since they are really good low carbohydrate good fat snacks. I love that you can get 3 different varieties for $5. Right now, I'm munching on the Honey Almonds. They are really fresh and tasty. read more

Since I'm allergic to nuts why am I reviewing these guys? I tell you why because they have a nice selection of NOT nut foods. Like dried fruits and freaking ZOMG toffee covered sunflower seeds!! Yesterday I got a bag of dried strawberries, dried cranberries and toffee sunflower seeds. I got home and tried them all. The dried fruits I got were just right. Not too sweet just how I like em. I buy a small packet once a while when i am in cerritos farmers market. The peanuts are somewhat good , taste is good most of the times, sometimes most of the peanuts taste horrible with no taste. But i am not giving 2 stars for that reason, the taste is worth 4 stars. Last week, in cerritos market, there was this white haired guy, probably the guy who owns it. He was showing a bit too much attitude. There were 2 gentlemen tasting peanuts from the 3 sample packets - light roast, medium roast and dark roast. Even before they could decide on what to buy, he just asked do you want medium roast, and simply tossed the packet at them without allowing them to answer. then the gentlemen asked him to get a different flavor. This white haired guy simply threw the packets and it burst falling on the ground. The white haired guy was so rude in his behavior that he started murmuring and stating - "decide what you want and dont waste", when the cause of wastage was himself. He was simply rude to everyone coming to the stall. When i was there, he gave me few seconds and asked, "tell me what you want", as if he was giving us peanuts for free. I have never seen such attitude towards customer in any of US stores i have visited. This guy has lost a customer in me . the two gentlemen who left the store after buying the peanuts said - "this is probably the last time i am visiting your store, take it easy" for which this white haired guy responded very rudely again - "thanks i will take care" Usually on saturdays, there used to be a lady and a man who used to treat customers well, but this guy has a lot of attitude, if he is reading this he needs to understand that he needs customers to survive a living, we dont need peanuts only from his shop to live. we have alternatives. read more

I love pistachios as is, but Peanut Dudes takes it to the next level. If you like spicy, you must try the Jalapeno Garlic Pistachios. The Guacamole pistachios are also delicious, although not as intense flavor-wise. If you're craving something sweet, I recommend the toffee cashews. Absolutely delicious. Huge selection to pick from! I swear the bags used to be larger but they told me that's not the case..3 for $5 and not just straight up nuts, but flavors too. There's a lemon almond that you should stay away from, and the jalapeno garlic pistachios are good when they are crunchy but this last batch was soft. Generally they are scrumptious! How I love my nuts! This place is the joint, as it seems to be great providers for a variety of nuts, dried fruits, and candy. And for $5 for 3 bags, you just cannot beat that deal. Overall, the staff is very friendly and always willing to offer up samples. You can definitely see me their by some nuts every Friday and also trying something new. read more
