I deeply regret enrolling my four-year-old son in the Cresset preschool as it turned out to be a…read more"nightmare" for him. Unfortunately, some of the classroom teachers lacked the necessary skills to effectively teach the children. My son was greatly anxious when he first enrolled, but his 4-year-old classroom teacher didn't pay attention to his feelings and instead tried to control him, causing him to rebel against her ways. She labeled him as a "problem child" and every day when we picked him up, she would tell us in front of him how problematic his behavior was, which deeply hurt him. She never paid any attention to the good things he did or the efforts he made. After two weeks of suffering, we decided to withdraw our son from the Cresset preschool as we realized it was a bad influence on his development. We were lucky to find a preschool in Durham where our son felt loved and understood. At that school, the teachers were empathetic and provided him with the appropriate amount of care and attention. He now loves his new preschool, and it is in this loving environment that he is growing the most. Enrolling our son in the Cresset preschool was the worst choice but withdrawing him turned out to be the best decision we could have made.

She doesn't speak Spanish, so how could she be so sure? I was written up based on ASSUMPTIONS, not facts, and was later told I was no longer allowed to speak Spanish in the classroom. I was only "allowed" to speak my native language during lunch break. Because of this, I decided to quit. I found the whole situation deeply inappropriate, especially in a setting that should value diversity and inclusion. I also attempted to contact the regional director to report the situation, but my email was never answered. Working with children requires not just patience, but respect for them, for their families, and for the diverse professionals who care for them every day. Sadly, that respect was lost here.

We talked to and met with Ms. Maureen and she put us completely at ease with regards to our son going to daycare full time. The atmosphere at the school was and always is calm, warm, and welcoming. The caregivers are pleasant, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable and our son has developed in leaps and bounds while he has been here. He is now almost four and wants to be the first to get to school and doesn't want to leave when I go to pick him up......this is the best testament to the wonderful place that is the Growing Years. It has fulfilled all our needs and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nurturing and safe place to have your child go to.
