Peacock house was immaculate! Every square inch of our room was perfect. The bed was comfortable. The room was spotless. The amenities were perfect. The innkeepers were delightful. The house itself was gorgeous. Wow! The gardens outside were breathtaking. My only regret was not staying here longer. This house is what you'd imagine in every New England love story novel. B&Bs have been closing at a significant pace in this would-be Maine tourist town across the bridge from Canada's Campobello Island with its famous Roosevelt cottage. We are fortunate that those remaining include the Peacock House. I can't say enough about innkeepers MaryBeth and Jim who find it among their services to provide in-room food and other assistance for a guest trying to quarantine after coming down with an unexpected COVID infection. The rest of us enjoyed elegant b&b breakfasts (my personal fav was orange ricotta pancakes), cozy rooms with comfortable furnishings, and always available tea and coffee. If you're planning a Lubec visit, for the Summerkeys music program or any other reason, I highly recommend you start your accommodation search with the Peacock. read more

We stayed in the Peacock room - it was gorgeous, comfy, and quiet. The innkeepers were wonderful, helpful, welcoming people. The meals were delicious and they did a fantastic job working with my food issues. If you're ever in the Lubec area, do stay! Lubec is a small town, but it is so charming, the scenery is dramatic, the people are kind, and you can pop over into Canada, to Campobello Island. read more

I was in town to run the Bay of Fundy Marathon. When I looked into lodging there wasn't much choice in terms of hotels, so this was my first time staying at a bed & breakfast. When I arrived in town, I could understand why. Lubec was a small quiet and quaint town. There weren't much left when I booked, so all that was left was their Peacock Suite. It was way more room than I needed since I was traveling there by myself. *Peacock suite* Everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Very spacious! There's also a fireplace, a small sink and fridge in the room. The bathroom was nice and clean as well and came with nice plush towels. Shower had good water pressure. Daily room rates were very reasonable even though I was in the biggest room there. Breakfast was delicious and it was pretty good sharing a meal together with a diverse group of people from all walks of life. If I am ever in Lubec again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Mary Beth, the innkeeper was very nice and made the stay as memorable as possible. She gave me a couple of restaurant recommendations that was most helpful. read more

The room was very comfortable and the hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The inn keepers not only cooked and served you breakfast, they also checked to see how you were doing. There were a couple times where I heard them inquire of guests who were picky eaters what they would prefer so that they could better serve them. They didn't want anyone to go hungry. Upon check in they asked of any dietary restrictions and plan the next day's meal taking into account the dietary restrictions of all their guests. The place was very quiet with lots of common areas for guests to enjoy. Guests are encouraged to use the musical instruments or enjoy their vast music library. They have lots of books available for guest enjoyment. The common areas also have gas fireplaces available for guest use. If traveling in mid-October or later, make sure you check the dining options ahead of time. Most restaurants are closed for the season and some only accept cash, plan accordingly. Highly recommend, would definitely return if I'm in the area again. read more

My wife and I recently spent two weeks traveling through Maine and Canada. Of the 12 places we stayed we felt this was the best! Nothing bad to say about any of them but the Inn keepers here are extremely good at what they do. The place is in excellent condition and very clean, location is convenient to downtown and this stay was one of our highlights of our trip. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

My partner and I stayed there a week or two ago with our friends, as we were going to see the Puffins on Machias Seal Island. We were totally blown away by the beauty and spaciousness of this Bed and Breakfast. The best one we've ever stayed in, in fact. It seemed like no detail had been overlooked. Everything you could want to have was anticipated. Rooms were just fantastic and unbelievably comfortable beds, and as other reviewers said, perfectly clean (the hosts do their own cleaning) The hosts were perfect, sweet and non-invasive, but totally fun to talk to. And the food was astonishingly delicious and beautifully presented, like you'd get in a great restaurant. I would give anything for more of the popover pancakes with fresh fruit. Delicious. And the morning we went to see the puffins, we had to leave before breakfast and Jim and Mary Beth cooked us some delicious muffins and made us bagged breakfasts with yogurt, fruit and homemade granola, too. Wow. Wish it wasn't so far away from our home in MA. HIGHLY recommend! read more

We had a great stay in the Peacock House. We stayed in the Summer Room, which is one of the smaller rooms in this B&B, but it was still a good sized room with a nice, private bathroom. The Summer Room also has a really nice view. The innkeepers, Sue & Dennis, were very accommodating and enjoyed chatting with guests. Breakfast was fun and unique. Dennis cooked up individual sized Dutch Babies filled with bananas and maple syrup during our stay. It was a neat presentation. The inn is pretty large and has two nice common rooms with a good selections of Maine travel guides and information that can be used to plan your activities in Lubec and surrounding arrears. In addition, Sue & Dennis have a notebook in each room with suggestions on things to see or do in each direction from Lubec. On their recommendation we stopped in at U.S. Bells on the way down to Bar Harbor. The Peacock House is a great place to stay. We didn't really know what to expect from Lubec, but it really is a neat little town, and we would enjoy returning on our next trip to Maine. read more

Maine in winter - I wondered how it would be. Peacock House in Lubec turned out to be the perfect retreat. Several of us family members went there for a Christmas retreat. Innkeepers Jim and Mary Beth made our short stay comfortable, relaxing, warm and engaging. You know how you think you need to watch television to relax? Not here. Here the conversations with guests, the walks through town, bundled up in scarves and mittens, followed by hot chocolate next to the 10 foot tall live Christmas tree were our entertainment. There's also a room full of music CDs, books and games that kept us busy. Most importantly - at a bed and breakfast, you hope to enjoy those two things. Breakfast each morning was DELICIOUS - unique offerings of bread puddings, egg pastry and more. And the bed....ah-mazing. We thoroughly enjoyed this escape from everyday hustle and bustle. read more

They gave us tips on where to eat, seeing the sunrise earlier than anywhere else in the United States and talked us into going across the bridge into Canada to see a presidential summer home. The Peacock House quickly shot up to one of our favorite B&B's. My wife and parents stayed in a few rooms for our vacation. Every room is beautifully decorated in with different themes in Victorian style, refined, welcoming & clean. Mary-Beth our in-keeper was awesome, she was very friendly and sweet and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. She truly made us feel like we were at home. The Peacock house is a warm comfortable B and B in Lubec Maine. Sue and Dennis are warm and welcoming. Common rooms are used as guest great each other and swap stories. The rooms are pristine, the beds comfortable and the breakfast is outstanding. We were served blueberry french toast that was mind blowing. When e had to get up very early one morning Sue packed us breakfasts for the road. Of al the B and B's I have stayed in this is by far and away the best. The Peacock House is the perfect place to stay if you're looking for a quaint, relaxing place to stay while in Lubec. Inn keepers, Mary Beth and Jim, are such lovely people, and made us feel like we were part of the family, right at home. They were interactive, but not overwhelming (as I have found to be the case with some other B&Bs). You could tell they put so much thought and detail into every aspect of our stay. Breakfast each day was always a highlight. Each day it was something different - blueberry pecan French toast casserole (YUM!), their own turkey sausage with apples and cheese in a puffed pastry, and their own HOME-MADE greek yogurt with their gluten-free granola for when I felt like being healthy. Everything was delicious. I don't want to give away too much, as part of the wonderful experience was the delightful surprise of the little touches! A wonderful environment created by Mary Beth and Jim. We had not planned on visiting Lubec, but are so glad that we did and that we found the Peacock House. We stayed in the Peacock Suite which is roomy and comfortable. The B&B is maintained to standards as high or higher than we have found in any other establishment. Breakfast was delicious and if I have any comment it is that we would have liked a carb at the meal - bread or a muffin or some such. If you are heading to Campobello or have other reason to be in this area, look no further than the Peacock House. You cannot do any better in Lubec - or in most of Maine. read more
