    Peacock Suite sleeping area.

While in Lubec we stayed at The Peacock House bed and breakfast. I highly recommend!! Well appointed, beautifully decorated, and pristinely clean. We stayed in the Peacock room - it was gorgeous, comfy, and quiet. The innkeepers were wonderful, helpful, welcoming people. The meals were delicious and they did a fantastic job working with my food issues. If you're ever in the Lubec area, do stay! Lubec is a small town, but it is so charming, the scenery is dramatic, the people are kind, and you can pop over into Canada, to Campobello Island.

I was in town to run the Bay of Fundy Marathon. When I looked into lodging there wasn't much choice in terms of hotels, so this was my first time staying at a bed & breakfast. When I arrived in town, I could understand why. Lubec was a small quiet and quaint town. There weren't much left when I booked, so all that was left was their Peacock Suite. It was way more room than I needed since I was traveling there by myself. *Peacock suite* Everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Very spacious! There's also a fireplace, a small sink and fridge in the room. The bathroom was nice and clean as well and came with nice plush towels. Shower had good water pressure. Daily room rates were very reasonable even though I was in the biggest room there. Breakfast was delicious and it was pretty good sharing a meal together with a diverse group of people from all walks of life. If I am ever in Lubec again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Mary Beth, the innkeeper was very nice and made the stay as memorable as possible. She gave me a couple of restaurant recommendations that was most helpful.

We had a great stay in the Peacock House. We stayed in the Summer Room, which is one of the smaller rooms in this B&B, but it was still a good sized room with a nice, private bathroom. The Summer Room also has a really nice view. The innkeepers, Sue & Dennis, were very accommodating and enjoyed chatting with guests. Breakfast was fun and unique. Dennis cooked up individual sized Dutch Babies filled with bananas and maple syrup during our stay. It was a neat presentation. The inn is pretty large and has two nice common rooms with a good selections of Maine travel guides and information that can be used to plan your activities in Lubec and surrounding arrears. In addition, Sue & Dennis have a notebook in each room with suggestions on things to see or do in each direction from Lubec. On their recommendation we stopped in at U.S. Bells on the way down to Bar Harbor. The Peacock House is a great place to stay. We didn't really know what to expect from Lubec, but it really is a neat little town, and we would enjoy returning on our next trip to Maine.

We stayed at this wonderful place on May 10th. I have read some of the other reviews, and I wanted…read moreto take some time to tell of our experience and the wonderful customer service that we received from Nadia and the entire staff at the Inn at the Wharf. Let's start with check-in. We arrived in the afternoon/early evening and were greeted instantly. They had everything ready to go, and we were checked in and in the unit within a few minutes. We stayed in the Cliffside (I have slept since then, but it was a bottom-floor room on the ocean, and was Cliff something if I am wrong). The restaurant was closed that evening (we came during off season), and we were directed to a local restaurant (Review is already in for the Water Street Tavern and Inn. Our unit was spotless and had all of the necessities. We did not try the TV (as we were not there to watch it, to enjoy the scenery and time), but the unit was cute. It had a bed, table, chairs for eating, a microwave, TV, coffee machine, two chairs, and deck chairs. It was perfect for our short stay. The bathroom was large with two sinks and a shower/tub combo. We did not really hear anyone, but again, we are in the off-season. The bed was not the most comfortable, but it was not horrible either. There were no issues with temperatures, and the sliding door to the deck was perfect for viewing the sunrise at 5 a.m.! Unfortunately, I left my Apple Watch and only remember hours after we had left. We could not turn around, so I called and eventually spoke with Nadia. She was extremely kind on the phone and in demeanor, and helped tremendously in ensuring I got my item back. Nadia was fantastic in ensuring my item was found and mailing it back to me just a few hours after my call! She provided excellent customer service and did it all with a smile I could feel on the phone. , We also ate breakfast at the Inn at the Wharf before leaving, but it was Mother's Day, and there were not many restaurants in town that served a Mother's Day breakfast. The food was terrific, but we knew that time would be an issue, so we are not stating anything about time. I had the blueberry pancakes and they were terrific. Customer service was excellent, and the place was full! PROS: Views for miles, sunrises that you simply die for Not connected to the main hotel, so feels like an apartment/condo Lots of space on the front deck to sit and view the ocean Local grocery store, no issues finding what we needed Local chocolate shop, Monica's, was great,t and Monica was super sweet CONS: Small town (which is not really a con, but can be if you are looking for activities) Parking is tight

And I can hear every foreign word they're yelling through the ceiling very clearly.) -Food to cook. (Between October & June the only food option for 37 miles is Dollar General. Also* your own timer/stopwatch because the range/oven in this unit does not make noise. No beeps.) -coffee cups ( The dishes & silverware are a collection of random items left behind by guests). Vincent or Victor? The older guy at the office was very attentive and helpful. 4.5 stars to him for sure. Bottom line. If you are old school and just here for the ocean and need nothing else , it will probably be good for you. For anyone like me that's grown used to having certain comforts when staying in a hotel, it's probably not the one you want.

Rooms are extremely clean and towels are soft and plentiful. The owners, Jim and Fran are extremely friendly and helpful and it is like visiting someone in his/her own home. I highly recommend this motel if you are visiting Campobello Island for any reason.

We stayed on the second floor, a bit of a schlep with the luggage, but it was worth it for the high ceiling and sense of quiet. The room is very nicely furnished: two comfortable queen beds, and furnishings that made it feel like a guest room, not a motel. No comment on the TV, since we didnt turn it on the five days we were there! The people who made up the rooms were friendly and helpful, and the owners, Fran and Jim, went out of their way to make our stay perfect. They are both avid readers, and the rooms, as well as the front desk, have a library of book choices, as well as a big binder of maps, restaurant menus, and even a history of early Campobello! A great find, and a wonderful stay!

Now that I have HOPEFULLY gotten your attention, I will enumerate the reasons for my warning. PLEASE KNOW THAT EASTPORT IS LOVELY, THE PEOPLE THERE ARE WARM AND WELCOMING. With the exception of Pam Francis, Owner and Operator of Milliken House and Old Sow Restaurant. Really, it's unbelievable how inept this woman is. Don't all AirBNBs have information???? Well, not here. Also, isn't the definition of an B& B include breakfast??? Actually, I'm relieved there was no breakfast, as the kitchen was falling in. When I called for the booking, the owner, Pam Francis, did not give me any information, confirmation or any way to communicate with her. I called the week before my stay and had a very hard time getting in touch with her. I offered an email, a credit card....anything to secure our reservation and to get information about our stay. Pam is not on site and has depended on the help from a long-term guest to see to other guest's needs. This is without recompense. Victoria does this from the goodness of her heart. When you arrive, don't expect a welcome, a hello or a kiss my ....... Pam is the most unwelcoming person I have ever encountered. Not only is she unwelcoming, she acted as though we were an inconvenience. I haven't had eyes rolled at me since I was a child. The house, while lovely, is old and in disrepair, the rooms are bare bones. My room had a peeling ceiling. There was no soap, clean sheets, maybe?, old flat pillows, no extra blanket. There WAS a strange closet jammed with detritus that I blocked with a bench. It was creepy. I didn't have a key to lock my door. I hid my belongings in the shower and took pictures of my other stuff to make sure it hadn't been tampered with. Fortunately, the one night I was there was relatively warm, because there is no heat..... in Northern Maine. The whole place was just awful. No, not just awful, it was a travesty. Pam Francis apparently acquired this property with no skill in managing properties. There have been no inspections of her property and she only accepts checks or cash...........WHICH WE FOUND OUT WHEN TRYING TO ESCAPE. The guests that left just before us ( who were booked for multiple nights and left after one) couldn't get in touch with Pam and left her a note saying they would call her with a credit card. She wanted ME to go to a bank and get cash to pay for my stay. I should have been paid to stay there. I would not do that and dragged her info out of her so I could mail her a check when I get home. Why would someone with ZERO people skills, ZERO business sense and ZERO financial acuity try to run an B&B?? I have ideas, but hesitate to name them. The IRS can look into it. I have other reviews and I hope you will see that I am always forthright and honest. DO NOT STAY HERE, DO NOT BOOK HERE. *** Visit Eastport!!! It is lovely and the residents are the BEST!!!
