We waited in line for an hour and a half at the Taste of Iran event in Detroit yesterday. The line out the door wasn't really that long, but we hardly moved during that 90 minute wait period. We were lucky enough to get ONE update during our wait. They said the kitchen was really backed up, but that we would be let in soon. After that, we didn't hear from anyone else about the status of our wait time, the food that remained, etc.
When we finally got near the door, they took our drink order. Right after our drinks were brought out to us, they told us they were completely out of food. This was at 2:30 pm (the event was supposed to go until 6:00 pm).
So... it was pretty lame that they let us purchase drinks from them when they knew they couldn't serve us any food. Would've preferred to wait and order beverages from the next restaurant we went to.
Overall, the event seemed disorganized and they were obviously very, very ill-prepared. Since their Facebook event received so much attention, I figured they would have purchased enough food to at least make it CLOSE to the end-time of their event.
They should have, at the very least, offered updates to the line more often, and perhaps a glass of water.
We ended up walking over to Green Dot Stables and had an awesome lunch.
I wouldn't recommend Peace Meal Kitchen's events to ANYONE. read more
