Their rates are very reasonable especially since they care for the animals, give them any necessary shots/chips and nurse them to health if needed until they find their forever home. I worked mostly with Diane and she was always punctual with replying to emails/texts regarding any dogs of interest. She always gave me timely info and answered any and all of my constant questions and concerns. Meeting times were always flexible and there wasn't a pressure to choose a dog with every meeting. They do their homework on finding the right fit for their animals which I appreciate. They have the animals best interest at heart. That means not every family will get what they want if the fit isn't right. It'd be awful to adopt a dog only to rehome/return the dog a few months later due to bad fit. Keep up the good work!

Extremely disappointing and unwelcoming experience…read more I contacted New Beginnings for Animals because we were genuinely interested in adopting Luna, a Boston Terrier/Pug mix listed on Adopt-a-Pet. We were excited about the possibility of giving her a loving, permanent home. What happened during my phone conversation with the rescue was extremely upsetting. One of the first things I was asked was whether we live in military housing. When I said yes, I was told that they generally don't like adopting to military families because if the service member gets called away, they don't want the dog returned to them. I found this incredibly unfair and, quite honestly, discriminatory. Rather than getting to know us, our home, our plans, or our ability to care for a dog, I felt like we were immediately placed into a category simply because my husband is in the military. I explained that **this would be my dog**, that she would be an emotional support animal, and that if my husband were deployed or called away, she would stay with me. I have been through deployments before. If necessary, I could stay with his parents temporarily, but the dog would remain with me. There was never any scenario where we intended to surrender her or send her back to the rescue. I also brought up Luna's compatibility with children, dogs, and cats because those things matter when choosing a pet. Luna's Adopt-a-Pet listing says she is **"Good With Kids" and "Good With Dogs."** However, I was told during the call that she is actually not good with kids, dogs, or cats, needs to be the only dog, and would not be good on walks around other animals because she is "feisty." I was told there may have been a mix-up because two dogs had apparently been entered into the system. That discrepancy was very concerning. These are not small details when someone is deciding whether a dog is appropriate for their household. I completely understand that animal rescues have a responsibility to protect the animals in their care and to carefully screen adopters. I have no issue with reasonable questions or making sure a dog is placed in the right home. What I do have an issue with is being made to feel **unwelcome and judged because we are a military family**, especially when I was willing and able to explain exactly how the dog would be cared for during deployments or other military obligations. We were not asking for special treatment. We were asking to be considered as individuals and given a fair opportunity to demonstrate that we could provide Luna with a safe, stable, loving, permanent home. Instead, I walked away from the conversation feeling like our military status had already made us undesirable adopters before our circumstances were even considered. A rescue organization should make people who are trying to give an animal a loving home feel welcomed--not judged or automatically discounted because of their family's profession. This was my personal experience, and unfortunately it was enough to make me no longer feel comfortable pursuing an adoption through this organization. I hope they take this feedback seriously and reconsider how military families are approached and evaluated in the future. PSA the listing is still up with all the good qualities of the dog and the lady I spoke to also referred me to 3 different rescues instead.

Felt like we were sitting in Italy under all the vines and trellises. We joined for the sourdough pizza on Friday nights (this might be a summer-only thing?) Each pie was so good! All the ingredients and toppings are fresh, locally sourced, and you can tell! This is a VERY kid friendly place. Nearly every table had children - newborns and toddlers mostly. Only negative I have to say is that due to how popular the pizza nights are, we were asked to give up our table and as we told the manager that we'd leave in a moment he then pushed further saying that a party was waiting for our exact table right then. We got the message the first time :) I will be coming back here to eat again for sure. Very nice place.

Great place to donate items. I called beforehand and made sure that they were open and was able to…read moredonate stuff. The whole process was easy. You enter through their garage, where a friendly security guard helps guide you through the process. They also provide donation receipts if needed. They accept almost everything, including men's and women's clothing, books, shoes, and unbroken kitchenware. The only items they don't accept are children's clothing. The security guard let us know that the donations go directly to people experiencing homelessness, and there is also a women's recovery center upstairs that many of the items support. It feels much better donating here compared to street donation bins that often get tampered with. Highly recommend donating here if you're looking for a meaningful place to give back and wanting to donate your items.

Non have been able to provide any services, it's always some reason I don't qualify. What has the world come to where you need so much more than being homeless to qualify for services. I have exhausted so much money paying for hotels. The last hotel my family and I resided in the staff put us in a hotel room with a broken window because of their negligence my autistic son fell 4 story's and because so we are now fighting a CFS case for the past few months. My husband and I came to this organization looking to be able to save up for just a month while I continue school. Their reasoning for not helping us was because I had no connection with surrounding areas hello I'm homeless I have no connection with any area ‍ weird. They also said I couldn't go to school I have to be working which is also weird considering my husband already works, by going to school I'm working towards something more permanent for my family. Neither one of us does any type of drugs or drink, we are just a family who have been experiencing hard times that won't give up. We only needed 30 days to save up some money before our court date, finding a house is the last thing we need to complete before we can get the kids back and we were hoping to stay here for a month so we can save enough to cover move in cost when we find our next home.

This is the miracle location, that assisted the family to provide a loving forever home for their furry member of the family. The pet adoption center, took care of all the paperwork, did labs to make sure the dogs were healthy, and provided medication, medical treatment, check ups, dental, etc. because they adore our canine friends. They accept donations, and volunteers to walk, help assist, taking care of the dogs. I believe for a small fee, one can adopt a dog here. This is a blessing, having this pet adoption center locally in the community!

Stephanie and Jason are the two that are usually in the front helping you check in, so I have been able to talk to them the most. They both have such kind hearts and always make sure your experience here is great. Everything works smoothly here and the staff explain what to do perfectly. You start by watching a video that talks more about what Second Harvest is and what to expect during your volunteer shift. My personal favorite is grocery rescue, which is where you go to the cooler in the back and sort the good and the bad items that they receive from grocery stores. There are plenty of other options, depending on the day, like order pulling, crate washing, processing, bag cutting, etc. These are just some of the opportunities that they offer at the distribution center. They also have their own farm where you can spend your time picking the produce straight from the ground! Overall, this is such a great place to volunteer at. Yesterday I stopped by here and went into the office to see if they took food donations,…read morespecifically cake pan gifts. They did! Cake pan gifts are a 9x13 disposable cake pan from dollar tree, a box of cake mix, can of frosting, birthday card, balloons, (I added a birthday button), birthday candles and a can of sprite. You can google the recipe to make a cake with sprite instead of eggs and oil which is perfect for food banks. I will add a photo of my finished product for guidance. The gal at the front desk was very nice and instructed me to drive around to the side to the large open door. I walked in and someone asked how they could help me. She grabbed a cart and came out to m car and got my three bags that had the 12 cake pan gifts in them. She was so happy and excited to receive them and it made me feel so good!! Cant wait to make more in the future and bring them here.
