We got to town Saturday, bought our passes Monday (during staffed hours) and had the intentions to return our little key fobs on Friday before we left on Saturday again. Getting set up was easy enough. It isn't a big place but if you know what you're doing, they have everything you need. A small selection of cardio machines, free weights, universal machines and plenty of other exercise equipment in a small dance studio room. They also have 3 (if I'm remembering correctly) big bathrooms with showers. We went every day of vacation except Friday around 10:30am and worked out for around an hour each day and it never had more than 8 people in the gym. They do not have staffed hours on Friday -- which shocked us but we were able to work around it. We had to leave town but our parents were able to return the keys to the gym and we each got $20 reimbursed (cash). When we did see workers at the gym there were always busy cleaning which was awesome.

There is not an area for dead lifting anything more than 225lbs without putting down yoga mats to absorb the noise. There is not any bumper plates to absorb the force. I was approached by the owner and informed that it was scaring the clientele and could crack the pavement. If you are visiting this establishment, it would work great for resistance or endurance workouts.

This was my thought when my brother asked me to join him for a workout at Strength Studio when I was in Brainerd over Christmas week. I am writing this review on Monday, my workout was Friday, and I'm still feeling it in my arms and legs. Strength Studio has me hooked - and I'm definitely going back whenever I'm in town. The format of the workout is 1 set of each exercise, performed to exhaustion. This means you go until you can no longer perform a repetition with perfect form. At the point of exhaustion, Emily would typically assist me to perform one final rep, and I had to hold that position for 10 seconds. It's tough, but you feel a real sense of accomplishment when you're finished with each exercise. The exercises are I come from the traditional "3 sets of 10" world of lifting, so this was a new concept for me; I really enjoyed being pushed beyond my comfort zone for each exercise. Emily was my 1-on-1 trainer and proved to be a great teacher and motivator - you really need someone in your ear to push yourself to exhaustion in an exercise. But afterwards, its like you can feel yourself getting stronger. Because you're performing each only one set of each exercise and then moving on to a new body part, the workout flies by, and when it's complete you feel like you had an excellent total body workout, even though it only took 30 minutes. My home gym is a corporate gym in Las Vegas. And while that gym has similar equipment and machines to Strength Studio, I find it too easy to make excuses and not give 100% to each exercise: - "There's someone already on the machine. I guess I'll skip it" - "I feel too tired right now to finish this exercise" - "Is this the correct form for this lift?" Inevitably I leave for home unfulfilled despite spending an hour at the gym plus the commute. The 1-on-1 training with only 1 set for each exercise was a refreshing switch for me - and it left me craving for more workouts in this fast-paced style. If you're looking to make real changes to your body, I highly recommend checking out Strength Studio.

If you are a beginner, welcome, and thank you for taking the courageous first steps towards a healthier you! CrossFitBemidji will assist you in getting your first workout done without murdering your mind and body. They want you to have a safe, enjoyable and more importantly, doable, workout. CrossFitBemidji wants you to comeback! Been working out in gyms and want a different environment? Well, I am not too sure what that even means because the only "gym" experience I had was lifting weights at a university's gym: Enter. Lift weights. Leave. Granted that's the lower spectrum of a gym experience. Anyways, at CrossFitBemidji it is a friendly, interactive atmosphere. Friends greeting friends and even greeting new people. New to the area, new to CrossFit, sometimes even both. Athletes encouraging one another as the workout progresses! It's always a fun time. You know CrossFit? Nice. CrossFitBemidji is the box to get your WOD done. For a twenty-buck drop in fee you can utilize the box to join your extended CrossFit family! Four stars because I wish it was a just a little bit larger. But the paved Heartland Trail just behind CrossFitBemidji and the box being so close to Lake Bemidji is truly a beautiful bonus.

The training staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Very motivating as well. They focus on a community approach to fitness where everyone is continually championing each other. Carol and Lloyde are amazing at motivating and training. They also are constantly going to training seminars to broaden their knowledge. This is a great community for my wife and myself. Working out isn't always easy to go and do but this gym and this community has made it a very rewarding part of my week.
