I think we literally shook hands and met every single person at the service. Such a warm and welcoming community, we will definitely come back for a service next time we are in Illinois. After looking through Brian's impressive portfolio and sitting down with him to talk, we decided to hire him for our wedding and engagement shoot. Brian completely exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Brian is not only very reliable, but he is also extremely dedicated to his work. Brian drove over 90 miles to get to our engagement photo shoot and on the way he stopped at a gas station on the south side of Chicago where he stepped on two nails, which punctured his foot. Although we insisted that we reschedule so he could take care of himself, he still arrived (early, as his style) ready to shoot our session. He carried his equipment on his back on his injured foot for miles around Chicago, and took some of the most breathtaking photos I have ever seen. Brian helped us to feel completely comfortable the entire time. I remember being impressed with how he can walk backwards, get to know us better by carrying on a conversation, assess the lighting of the area around him, all while shooting pictures that made our families cry and that we will treasure forever. We are happier than ever that we chose Brian and his assistant Greg to shoot our wedding on July 13, 2013. On the day of my wedding, I didn't have time to notice all of the details that I previously spent so much time planning. Brian perfectly captured all of these details in his photographs. There were many shots that I would have never thought to ask him to take, but because of his professionalism and experience he provided these pictures for us. Most importantly, Brian captured the moments that happen so quickly.. but that I will remember forever. Because of his talent, I have photos of my mom trying not to cry as I step into my dress, my grandmother giggling with the woman who was doing her make up, my groom's first teary look at me, and so much more. The light fixtures are beautiful and it's a great example of how rustic farmhouse is done well. There are plenty of areas to take photos - water features, hallways, anywhere in the pavilion and outside. It's stunning! Service was very quick, maybe a little too quick for my liking but it's fine. You start your dinner with a salad. I thought it was delicious - I was worried that it was going to be soggy since it comes dressed however it was great and not soggy at all. My fiancé and I tried the filet mignon and bacon wrapped chicken for our entrees. Both were very good and prepared well. For sides there were seasonal vegetables. The drinks here are made strong, tip your bartender - they do a great job!

However, for the amount of money we paid, the level of organization and communication from the staff was not what we expected. Throughout the planning process, we were sent incorrect invoices numerous times. One invoice was $8,000 more than what we actually owed, and I had to catch and correct the mistake. Having to repeatedly double-check invoices created unnecessary stress during an already expensive and stressful planning process. Our rehearsal was also not very organized. The staff was not particularly directive about where people should stand, how things would flow, or exactly what we were supposed to be practicing. A lot of the direction felt vague, and we left the rehearsal still feeling unsure about how the ceremony was actually going to run. Unfortunately, that lack of communication continued on our wedding day. Our event coordinator came in that morning and asked me how the day was going to go. I asked if she had spoken with the coordinator who had conducted our rehearsal, and she said she had not. She then questioned why the rehearsal coordinator had us practice walking a certain way if we were not doing a first look. At that point, I was already extremely overwhelmed, and one of my bridesmaids had to step in and communicate with the coordinator because I was close to having a nervous breakdown. There were also several last-minute questions that should have already been handled. About 15 minutes before our ceremony, I received a message asking who was going to finish putting the glasses on our champagne wall, even though it had previously been discussed that the venue staff would be taking care of this. When it was time to line up for the ceremony, there was also confusion about where everyone was supposed to go. We ended up getting behind the tree line and walking through the apple trees, to the point where my now-husband almost saw me before the ceremony. Our event coordinator also asked multiple times where different people were supposed to go, which was concerning because these details should have already been coordinated. I want to emphasize that the venue itself is beautiful, and we genuinely enjoyed our wedding and the memories we made there. Our issue was not with the space -- it was with the level of communication, organization, and coordination leading up to and during the ceremony. For such a significant investment, we expected the staff to be more prepared, communicate with one another, and take more of the logistical stress off of us rather than adding to it. Unfortunately, much of the coordination fell back on us and our wedding party, which is not what we expected when paying for a professional wedding venue. I don't regret having our wedding there because the day itself was special and beautiful, but based on our experience, the service and coordination could have been significantly better.

Mother and daughter. WHAT? The photos they took are so average in scope and quality. SO disappointed. We had "the wife" as our photographer and she was all about the groom's family - taking many pictures of that family. When it came to MY family - and I was paying for the service she was stingy and did not take the "money shots". There was very little creativity in the pictures, either. Very stagnant posing.... It's a moment that has come and gone and can never be replicated. Thank GOD I had friends and family that took very artistic photos of the day. We had already planned to use Rodney's photo booth service for our wedding, when at the very last…read moreminute, my mom decided she wanted TWINKLE LIGHTS (seriously, she was obsessed), and boy am I glad she did. Rodney absolutely transformed our reception into a fairy tale. He also did work for another client who was having their reception that evening in the area that our ceremony was held in the afternoon, so we got to enjoy that decor as well, which was also gorgeous (how lucky we were!) The venue was already a beautiful place, but once I saw what Rodney did to both spaces, I can't imagine having it any other way. He hung beautiful drapery, flowing fabric panels and twinkle lights inside the ballroom and stunning bistro lights out on the deck. He coordinated the colored lighting with our DJ and it could not have looked better. The photo booth was a blast, too. Everyone had a great time with it and it is so much fun getting to look back through the book of all the silly pictures. Rodney was fantastic to work with. I'd recommend Special Moments to anyone in a heartbeat.
