PC World in Guildfprd has recently undergone a great refit and is now a lot less cluttered and far easier to navigate. The range of products seems to have fallen but the products that are there are clearly displayed and easy to interact with. There's a more premium feel about the shop now. Staff are generally happy to help and will approach you to check that you are OK. Although happy to help I've often found that product knowledge is lacking in terms of the detail. This is frustrating as only scant details about products are included on the shelf edge lables. The store now incorporates a dedicated Apple store and a much larger range of Apple products are stocked as a result. I find the whole a much more pleasant experience than the old store set up which always appeared cheap and nasty! read more

PC World guildford is a large branch that still has a large stock range although not as much as they used to have. The store is lovely and bright and well laid out. The only downside I have is that the products only have a limited amount of information about them and when you approach a staff member they seem to not have as much knowledge as they should. This is no reflection on the staff, I feel they could be a bit better trained. Sometimes i feel that I need to search on the internet about a product before gooing into the store and purchasing. The staff are however friendly and they do try to help when they can. Overall a good store. read more

I have bought several items from PC World in Guildford simply for the fact that it's nearby not because it's good. The range is fine but it's the staff that let's the store down. The first time I bought a laptop in there I got it home and immediately found it to be faulty. I ran a couple of tests and quickly diagnosed the problem. I took it back and explained the problem to one of the 'tech guys' who argued with me that I was wrong. We waited for half an hour while he checked various things (constantly turning a deaf ear to my suggestions) before finally casting the same diagnosis as me and swapping it for a new computer. A few weeks ago I went and purchased a netbook which I left at the store to have the software installed. I was promised a phone call within two hours to let me know it was finished. Having not received the call after three hours I tried to call them but surprise surprise the phone number given does not go direct to the branch. However, the advisor I spoke to did tell me that I shouldn't keep my hopes up as the tech guys usually take until the next working day to install the software. Eventually at 7pm when I finished work I went back to the store to find my netbook waiting for me. The clerk seemed surprised that I hadn't received a call as apparently the computer had been ready to go all day! If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have bought products a number of times from PC world Guildford because of its convenience, not its service. I went in to purchase a Surface Pro 3 for my final year at university. After waiting over 20 minutes for a member of staff to help, I was finally greeted with an unapologetic 'hi'. The member of staff was unable to tell me if the computer I wanted to buy would be able to do anything I was asking and had to consult google on his phone to explain the amount of RAM I would need. When I agreed to buy a model, I was then told I would need to buy several other components including the keyboard, the pen and the mouse separately. Despite me knowing that the unit should come with a stylus, I was told it would not be and I had to buy it separately. When he brought out the box, I showed him that it does in fact come with the pen. He continued to try to sell it to me regardless. After then messing up the sale on their system he then told me if I not pay the 45 pound service charge to upgrade my operator from Windows 8.1 to 10 the unit could 'crash and die' and I would be unable to get it fixed at all. He didn't explain any further than this. Clearly he thought I was stupid and the whole experience left me confused and irritated. After getting home, I then realised he had sold me all the wrong parts. The keyboard and the screen protector were for a different model. I returned to the shop the same day to find I would have to wait to receive the actual keyboard I would need. I payed for next day delivery, returned two days later and found that the delivery had still not been made. I received no apology or helpful advice. I managed to finally collect and install everything three days later. The whole experience was terrible. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. No one approached or offered themselves to help. Many members of staff simply wandered around the floor chatting to each other. I would not recommend buying from this store or PC world. read more
