I even brought a pair of name brand shoes that I've only worn once that cost over $250 easy. The cashier offered to buy them for $10 and hit me with the line all shady thrift stores and pawn shops say "this isn't what we are looking for but if you want we can buy it a low price" knowing full well they would turn around and sell it close to retail if I sold the sneakers to the store. Not only that, but I've seen the quality of their items, especially with the clothing selection and its always lacking except for indie brands they mix in with the other clothes and sell which are extremely over priced. Its a cool store to browse around and waste time in while walking around Deep Ellum drunk on a weekend, but that's all I can recommend because the store is a waste of time. There are plenty of online shops and resellers holding on to better items, and apps like Depop to sell your items at reasonable price.

It can be stressful just getting into the building but i can ALWAYS find something at genesis. Some things can be a little over priced but for the most part you are getting a great value for decent quality items. They also write the prices on the inside of handbags and this kind of ruins them. The store appears to be run by an all-volunteer staff so I'll excuse them for not greeting me or playing shopping rock. Most of the clothes are for less fashion-forward clientele.
