Decided to try out a registration service instead of the dreadful DMV. My renewal required a smog check and the DMV online & the telephone system is pointless... I went into Payless Registration, paid a very small fee and was out with my registration in-hand in less than 5 minutes. CARMEN IS A MIRACLE! I needed to register a used car and get clear title, but the seller only had a title with several previous buyer names on it, so DMV required that I get signatures from EACH before I could do so. No way could I do this! So I read about Carmen on FB and tried her out. Within 30 min I was handed the new registration, and within 2 weeks I received the clear title! I bought a car in the morning. I checked out the dmv website looking for an appointment to register the car. The DMV didn't have any appointments for one week. It also showed over an hour for wait times at all of the South Bay locations. I looked at Yelp and found Payless. I called a few different places and Payless had the lowest service fee. That's how they got me in the door. When I got there everyone was very nice. I was there for about 10 minutes. I couldn't believe how quick and painless bit was. If I ever have to do something like this again I will definitely be going back! read more

My experience with this company was miserable and I highly recommend you go elsewhere. The goal was to import my Jeep to Mexico. It needed to be complete by the following Friday. We started eight days ahead of time. Adriana, the woman with whom we were working, asked for my Mexican immigration documents (FM3) which were in annual renewal in Cabo San Lucas. She was given my Mexican driver's license instead and said she would have to call to find out if that was acceptable. This occurred on a Thursday - eight days ahead. No word on the acceptability of the Mexican driver's license on Friday - seven days ahead. The following Monday we called twice and were put into voice mail. She never returned those calls. I finally called a third time and was told by Adriana to come down to Otay (near the Mexican border), that the Mexican driver's license was sufficient. This was 2:00 p.m. and I was advised they close at 5:00 p.m. We rushed down. On arrival, we were told that it would be necessary to have the Jeep cross at Tecate - many miles away - because time was short. She then said that she needed $1,080 in cash which we did not have - lots of checks and credit cards - but no cash. When asked why she did not say to bring case she stated, and this is verbatim, "...because you did not ask me." The encounter concluded with me being handed my title document and told to leave. I was not vulgar, but did express my unhappiness - in normal tone and tenor. I urge all readers to avoid this place like the plague. In my opinion, they are incompetent, uncaring and unfit to be of service to the public. read more

This is a brilliant alternative to the lines at the DMV. I recently waited almost 90 minutes to be called at the DMV only to find out that they didn't understand the paper work that I gave the. They insisted that I needed more documentation. I went to Payless Auto. and they understood the papers and processed`the documentation on the spot....10 minutes after I walked in, I was on my way. Came here to avoid going to the DMV and waiting all day , payed them their fees plus my registration I needed to do a smog so I came back the next day with my smog certificate in hand and was told to come back Tuesday which is four days from now for my registration and stickers because they ran out , if you're charging a fee to do your registration the same day or next and you fail to provide this service , then that defeats the purpose of charging extra for registration services , not only do I have to wait 4 days for my registration and stickers , I have to risk driving around and getting a ticket , I definitely don't recommend these people and will go somewhere else next time read more

Payless registration is a small office but the people there work very efficently and you won't be waiting that long. Arely took care of me at the front desk she was awesome. She was a great multitasker and very quick ! Definitely will be coming back soon. Self serve water was also perfect for the hot weather. read more

Extremely unprofessional. Came in on Thursday to register my new car, told I would get a call tomorrow when plates were ready to get picked up . Never got a call . Checked the times online & called to verify but never got an answer . Even left a message on "Adrianna's" extension and never got a call back . Their yelp accounts says they are open Saturday's so I passed by this morning to a sign on the door that says closed . So pissed off that now I have to wait till Monday . I would have rather waited two hours at the dmv & get my plates right then & there then wait 4 fuckin days to drive my new car . This place is bullshit . read more

I recently used this service for my registration renewal to avoid the long lines at the DMV! Why would anyone do it any other way who values their time! With the closure of the Escondido DMV I understand there's a Vista location to service the N. County!
