I recently took my Maltipoo and Shihpoo there for a bath and groom. I made an appointment online two weeks ahead of time and requested a specific person. When I dropped them off everything was as it normally is and I knew they were in good hands. I was wrong this time. My fiancé picked them up while I was at work, and when I got home I was shocked to see that Pollie looked NOTHING like herself(Pennie looked great, the usual cut that I get for both of my girls). They had shaved her down to almost nothing ALL OVER. I didn't understand why- no one had called me to say there was an issue, so why did they shave all of her hair off? The next day I called and asked to speak with the manager. Melissa(I believe she is one of the owners) came to the phone and I asked her what happened. She told me that the groomer I requested was overbooked so Bo did Pollies hair. I asked her why I was not notified when the appointment was booked and/or when they were dropped off(as my dogs get anxious with strangers) and she said- "she didn't know that it was a request". This was only the beginning of the excuses Melissa would give me. Every response she gave me made it seem as if it were my fault for the booking mishap(even though I received an appointment reminder and confirmed it- as well as a personal phone call from them about my upcoming appointment). She also had the nerve to tell me that "I asked for their hair to be cut short". I NEVER asked for that, and their regular groomers know exactly how to cut their hair. At this point I knew that if she was willing to lie then I was wasting my time. I told her that Pollies haircut looked awful and far from professional, and that's when Melissa really showed her bias for Bo. Neither of them would admit that he did a horrible job, but what's worse is that she never even apologized. I could say a lot more about this experience, but I think the reason for my low rating of this business is clear- poor customer service, extreme lack of professionalism, and no compassion whatsoever are just the tip of the iceberg.

Told another vet would able to briefly see me. I was worried about two lesions on his leg especially because he had had resection of mast cell tumor..rapidly growing cander. She said lesions too small for needle aspirate. They could not do full exam b/o his resistance. Told to return in two wks after ATB cream to lesions. I was charged for full exam. I returned in 2 weeks and had sedated him per their instructions. He had developed an additional diverse masses. They told me the vet couldn't talk with me that day (too busy) and that new lesions had not been evaluated. Also exam of mouth and orthopedics (he has crushed rt front elbow and partial CCL tear on rear) were not completed. Told I needed to wait on standard blood work which does not have cancer markers or anything to do with mouth or joints. Long story but apparently they have become too busy to do paid for exams or talk with owners.

I found the front desk to be very helpful and kind, the man that took us back to the exam room was a delight, and the vet was absolutely focused on listening to what we had to say and examining our big boy Buddy. The Vet did not pummel me with do's and don'ts as I have been in the past (ie harping on the importance of heartworm medicine, which I was expecting because thats been a common occurrence with past Vets even though my animals ARE on medication...and since the Virginia State Bird seems to be the Mosquito, lol) As for pricing, again, I was very pleased! I was expecting to have to pay three times what I was charged! Their services are affordable for anyone who, like me, is living on retirement. I am sure, as with everywhere else, they are not infallible, but overall, THIS is the best place in town!
