The location…read moreof this BW is literally at the entrance of Bryce Park, and I can't find anything bad to say. Plenty of parking, and there's even a Phillips 66 gas station next door with actually very competitive prices. There's no restaurant on property but there are some across the street, and the front desk provides a list of local eateries. Tip: The Bryce Canyon Pines Restaurant - located 4 miles away on route 12 -was an excellent choice. Our king room was spacious, plenty of storage, and 2 sinks in the room. The shower had plenty of hot water and ample water pressure. The toiletries was lemony, citrusy which was pleasant to use. There was even a fridge and microwave in the room. I was quite impressed on the breakfast buffet. They literally had everything you could think of for breakfast, from eggs, sausage AND bacon, waffles, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, fruit, fresh yogurt, yogurt in a cup, juice, cereal, breads, donuts, potatoes, and so much more! Even the coffee was good... not weak at all. There are a few feral cats on property and I was so sad they had to stay out in the cold, huddled under our cars for warmth. Aside from that, it's an excellent location. Staff was friendly, but not overly chatty.

This hotel had one of the best hospitality and customer service. Special thanks to Brent and his staff for taking such good care of me and my significant other during our stay. We could not have asked for a better experience in Dodge City. A kitchenette for the price we paid was unbeatable.

The toilet seat was not secured with screws to the frame, the shower didn't function properly, and I was awakened from sleep at 1am by the night clerk who said she had a noise complaint. We were in bed, not talking, and no TV or electronics to make noise. Nothing. She insisted. The same clerk, who had a clear language barrier (India) argued with me about the pronunciation of the vehicle I drive as well as the color as she stood typing my registration info. She was cold and unfriendly. Furthermore, I am a combat veteran, and the discount Best Western offered was just $6.00 on a $139 room. That's not a discount, it's an insult. I will neither recommend nor return to that hotel. It's old and maintains low standards and clearly does not honor the Best Western brand. Paul C., Oklahoma City

PEE SOAKED BED pull out couch was SOPPING WET with urine…read more My grandmother is a business owner who winters in Arizona. Every year she stops at this hotel both ways on her drive down from Minnesota. I am accompanying her to assist on her trip home tonight and was planning to sleep on the pull out couch. We reserved our room this morning ahead of time and arrived around 10:30 pm. After 13 hours of car travel we are exhausted. Opening up the pull out couch I first noticed something like pieces of tree bark on the sheets, and then found when I went to wipe them off that the sheets weren't dry. Then further realized they were outright wet. Sniff test confirmed the comically absurd and horrible fact that the sheets were soaked through into the mattress with pee. We called in the front desk woman who was helpful but not apologetic. She was ready to just give me new sheets and have me sleep on that mattress until I pointed out that it too was wet and stank. I am so exhausted that I just decided to not be difficult and just put the sheets on the dry but stiff adjacent part of the couch that doesn't fold up. My grandmother, who has been a habitually loyal customer for probably a decade, left the room to ask if they could reduce the bill. Now a man named Roy, who was either the manager or owner, was involved and when she explained our situation to him she was yelled at, threatened with being asked to leave, and accused of dirtying the bed herself as a scam. When she said that accusation was insulting he called her names. At this time it's reached about 11:30 and she is rationally scared enough about being unable to find another place to sleep that she just walked back to her room with some meager new bedding and hoped nobody came to remove us. This has been a dehumanizing and inhumane experience and she won't come back.

Special thanks to Valerie at the Long Branch Saloon and Aricelli at the front desk for being so friendly and welcoming! And thanks to Francisco for handling our reservation. The inn has a swell Old West atmosphere with a staircase leading to the second floor from the lobby, which has an interesting layout (there is a pocket bar, the Long Branch Saloon, tucked under the 2nd-floor balcony). Our room was a standard hotel room but spacious, with a king bed, sitting area with loveseat and overstuffed chair, desk with office chair, and dresser which held the TV and fridge as well as drawers for clothing. There was an additional counter across from bathroom which held the microwave with space underneath for luggage. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a selection of pillows from soft to firm. It was handy to have two doors for the room--one to interior hallway and one to the outside. We parked directly outside our room for easy load-in and load-out. The downside of our room's location was the noise from the main street (Wyatt Earp Blvd) which runs alongside the property and occurred throughout the night. We had asked for a room on the other side of the building, away from the street, but none were available when we checked in. The fitness room was adequate, but the treadmill was broken, and one bicycle had limited use ("subscription expired" for Les Mills Stages). There was an additional bike, an elliptical trainer, and weightlifting equipment available. The tasty hot breakfast was included in the cost of the room, with plenty of selections. It would be nice if the hotel offered reusable plates, cups, and silverware for guests. There was an additional coffee machine next to the reception desk, with options including lattes, mochas and cappuccino, and it was available 24 hours a day. The TV reception was very good quality, and we appreciate the hotel information book with the list of TV channels and hours for breakfast, the pool and gym, and other hotel amenities. The pool was under renovation during our visit so we didn't get to try it. There are two entrances to the property: the one on 14th street is easy to miss as it's the size of someone's driveway and is very steep. Easier access is from Wyatt Earp Blvd to 13th street, with a more graded approach to the building. Again, we had a good stay at the Best Western Country Inn, and thank them for our visit!
