Kind and compassionate staff. You can tell they're really trying to HELP animals. We were able to…read morecatch three (adorable) stray kittens living under our house on Christmas. I've spent the past two days looking to relinquish them to a no kill shelter in hope that they'd find a good & loving home. I contacted several local shelters, humane society and animal control centers only to get no help. No suggestions and passed off. Grosse Pointe shelter was the only facility that actually offered suggestions/ideas to help these animals. Well done! Heads above all the rest who are just lip service. Thank you for your help!

Corinne is the lady we dealt with. She is awesome! She is such a sweet and caring lady and has such a big heart for animals!! We got to play with Tigger and fell in love with him! They provided us with dry food and several cans of wet food when we took him home. Corinne and all the volunteers here are such amazing people!! They truly have a heart of gold and take such good care of all the dogs and cats here! She was great at keeping in touch with us and keeping us posted about our application. She gave us a folder with all his vaccine records and other info we needed. He is already fixed and micro chipped which is awesome! Adoption fee was 150.00. If you're looking to adopt come here!! You won't be disappointed!! They work with several local police departments and back the blue! So this is a huge plus seeing as my fiancé is a police officer!

We asked if they minded if we looked around, so we popped in the back to see the dogs. The place was exceptionally clean and the place just looked beautiful, you can tell the staff really cares for all of the animals! Please consider adopting a dog before buying a purebred- these wonderful little babies need homes too!

We have had experience with two other animal rescue businesses and can tell you that PAR takes outstanding care of their rescues. The environment in which they live until they find their forever home is loving and they are individually and collectively very well cared for and loved. We couldn't be happier with Rocky, who was considered a special needs cat. He is shy but has really become attached to my wife and he is warming up to me too. Rocky has been with us a little over two months and has become a part of our family. He gets along very well with our Siamese female rescue Coco. They are nearly the same age (Rocky will be five in June/Coco will be five in August). So, if you've been thinking about adopting a rescue, please check out PAR in Lapeer, MI. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Not sure of what to think of this place... My husband and I…read morewent today to interact with different dog breeds. We left heartbroken and a little confused. The dogs were so cute. So loving, but when we asked if the dogs get walked...nope. Dogs are not let out of their cages unless someone requests to see them or their cage is getting cleaned. The employee seemed very knowledgeable and friendly, but then referred to the dogs as "product" when we asked about how long the dogs stay. She told us that they "get new product once a week, depending on if they are from Indiana or Michigan." I just don't know what to think. Many people walked out buying dogs in the hour we were there, which is awesome! But...not sure. When we were done visiting with one puppy, no employees were out to attend to us. We could have easily walked out with the dog. Puppy mill? I don't know. One dog didn't even want us touching her, she hid in the corner of the stall and growled when we tried to play with her. So sad :/

I visited The Family Puppy today while in town for work…read more I was excited to see this place after entering the mall as i LOVE dogs. When i walked in I noticed there were designated places to interact with the dogs and puppies and there were a significant number of dogs in cages. There were at least 4 employees working, answering questions and taking out and returning puppies to their cages. There were maybe 5 families and or groups of people inside the store. I connected with a specific dog and wanted to ask questions about it. I waited at his cage for about 5 or six minutes. During the time I was standing directly in front of the cage, I made eye contact with 2 employees, and waited for someone to acknowledge me. Not once was I greeted or asked if I needed help. Meanwhile, I watched as every other family and individual who walked through the door was greeted IMMEDIATELY and offered assistance. I am a self-assured woman and I know my value, so their lack of greeting doesn't change how I feel about myself. However, I am sharing this so others are aware of the environment here. It is a shame that in a store full of families and pets, the "warm welcome" seems to be reserved for a specific demographic. The reality of my experience: Every single person was seen, except for me.
