Napoli is back! Formerly in the altstadt, the best pizza in Düsseldorf has returned!…read more
The pizza is the same as before, though this time the topping selections are even more varied (and some interesting specials -- duck or venison sausage, for example).
If you haven't tried it, here's what to expect from the pizza: chewy crust, fresh tomato sauce (or red or green pesto or cream sauce, your choice) bursting with flavor, real mozzarella (none of that gouda BS that most pizzerias in the 'dorf try to get away with!), and perfectly cooked toppings. Some of my favorites:
Donna Sofia -- the pan-seared spinach is wonderful, but substitute the normal salami for the piquant
Donna Carolina -- goat cheese and grilled aubergine is hard to beat!
Pesto Rosso -- the sun-dried tomato pesto pairs perfectly with spinach, and even better with salami added!
I've not tried the other dishes, as the pizza is soooooo good. Perhaps someday I can ignore their siren's song...
The only problem is the service. One of the waiters (brother to the owner/chef) is great -- the other servers were out of their depth and a bit lost. Hopefully they can get this sorted quickly!
