The idea was to try out their take and bake Lasagna of which a large aluminum container cost $48 with no cheese topping. Let the suspenseful anticipation begin on the ride home. Pop it in the oven, cooked longer than expected from frozen, no big deal. Had to add my own cheese topping. Everyone was fished out their portion and we began to eat, when all of a sudden... our mouths were on fire burning from not heat, but spice, and I mean pepper spice, almost like they used salsa for sauce or something of that nature. None of us could continue to eat it. The following day I called and expressed my concern and dismay and they talked to management but wouldn't put anyone else in the phone and said well that's how we make it. I said it's not supposed to be hot peppery spicy, it's Italian not Mexican food. I have never had lasagna in a spicy version ans I've had it made by a large variety of people and places. They didn't seem to care and that was the extent of the call. I will not give them business again, $48 is a lot to spend on food that is clearly mislabeled. Give them a try and see what you think, or don't. Either way, I know what I experienced and I was not pleased.

*3.5/5* Wandering…read morearound Big Spring Park this weekend, we saw this truck and decided we'd grab a bite. I so wish we could give half stars, because this truck is better than a 3. Painted all in red with an impressive porcine mascot, it's hard to miss this handsome food truck. Offerings include typical BBQ -- pulled pork and ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, and beans, plus the added and somewhat unique sausage options. I would say prices are quite fair, especially for a food truck, which I find is often more expensive than I feel it should be. Here, we got a pulled pork sandwich plate, which came with a sandwich and my choice of two sides, as well as a regular pulled pork sandwich with just a bag of chips, and two canned drinks for about $17. I find it's not unusual to pay $12 for one person alone at many other trucks, so this was a good deal. The two young adults running the truck were very pleasant and our food came out promptly. I opted for macaroni and cheese and plain Lays as my side items. Not much to say about the Lays other than they were tasty as always! The macaroni and cheese was definitely the best part of the meal. Noodles weren't too soft and it was flavorful and well seasoned; I feel like I detected hints of some kind of Cajun-ish spice, but regardless it was very solid mac! The buns for the sandwiches were store bought but were soft and slightly sweet. I would've enjoyed them more if the bottom bun wasn't totally disintegrated by the time I started eating. Can't help but wonder if maybe the sandwich was pre-plated for a while, because it was probably less than 5 minutes between the time I ordered and sat down with my food. There's no way a bun would've gotten that soft that quickly with the relatively meager amount of bbq sauce, so I can't help but wonder. I wound up eating my sandwich with a fork and knife to avoid the sticky, soggy mess. I kind of missed having a sandwich to eat with my hands, but it was okay. I liked the bbq sauce pretty well; it struck a nice balance of sweet and vinegary. The pork was middle grade, which is not a bad thing!! My family is very picky about their bbq and I've had *much* worse bbq than this. My main critique is I thought it was a little watery/mushy and I like my pork pulled a little chunkier. Overall, though, it had a nice smoke flavor and wasn't too fatty. This truck wouldn't be my first choice but I could definitely see myself returning. BBQ preferences are super personal so I recommend trying it out to see if you like it!

I'd love to make this a 5 star review, but that wouldn't be fair. So with a heavy heart, I have to hold accountable a place I love. I sincerely hope I will be able to update this review in the future with good news about Bad Newz, but spending my lunch hour waiting for them to show up late again just doesn't measure up to the standards any business should hold. Not knowing where they will be until the middle of the week because they don't keep their schedule posted promptly doesn't help matters. Make no mistake, if you can find them open, the food is outstanding, but they just aren't consistent right now.

We've been to El Vaquero twice now to play trivia. While we enjoy the clean amenities and our…read moretrivia caller, both times, we've all been incredibly unhappy with our food. The restaurant is spacious and gets loud when there's a crowd. Thankfully, there's usually a place for our larger group (6 people) to be seated comfortably. Service is very nice but slow. Trivia runs for a little over an hour and both times our food has taken about 45 minutes to come out, despite our comparatively small orders. My friend who comes to trivia does like the food here (he always gets a beef chimichanga FWIW), but everyone else has now tried several different dishes and not once been satisfied or even just not unhappy. The one shining star has been the cheese dip. It really is pretty good cheese dip, lol. The first time I ordered the chipotle chicken, which is supposed to be chicken in a chipotle sauce. I was firstly surprised and disappointed to see these were small strips of chicken rather than a chicken breast. But that would've been okay...had the chipotle sauce been decent. It had no chipotle flavor and honestly mostly just tasted like sour cream. It was very weird. My parents have tried a beef burrito, beef taco, and chicken taco. They said the beef has an unpleasant metallic taste and the shredded chicken was, according to my dad, inedible. Most recently, my husband got a carne asada burrito and said it tasted so unpleasant he was concerned about whether he should even eat it. Fortunately, no ill effects came about as a result of it; he determined it was ultimately just very low quality meat with an unpleasant texture and taste. My father in law just doesn't order anything except a beer after coming for breakfast once and having a bad time there, too. On my most recent visit, I got a side of rice and beans to eat with chips and cheese dip. The rice had been cooked into sticky, mushy lumps and had no flavor. At this point, I have no idea what to order that might even come close to satisfying my palate. It's disappointing. We may be forced back due to circumstances like our availability in order for us to play our favorite game and have time together. If so, I'll continue to try different things until I can maybe someday find something that works. I want to like this place and wish I had the experience so many other reviewers have had.
