Eight years ago Sandman tore out existing base and supposedly hauled in 6 loads of grade 9 gravel…read morefor a 6"-8" depth base. Blacktop was supposed to be 4 inches thick to accommodate heavy trucks on occasion. The driveway appears to be more like 2.5- 3 inches thick. I had immediate concerns as the driveway did not appear level and had low spots. I was told it was fine! From that day forward I had and still do experience water pooling in a few areas. Each year it gets worse. After about 4-5 years, it was cracking around the edges, center and at the end of the driveway. The driveway also was not sloped properly to drain. Horrible.

Last summer we had Sandman Paving tear out our existing driveway and install a new one. After 2 no…read moreshows, they came to do a full replacement. They were paid 100% half way through day 2, right before completion of work. The owner Jerry came into my house to collect the check for the final payment before he left. The job was not yet completed. Before the workers left for the day I showed them that there were two low spots on the end of our driveway that were collecting water. I suspected the worker didn't speak English and had a hard time understanding. I emailed contacted Sandman about the issue and Eva told me that they would be back before the end of the season to try and heat and roll our the low spots. There were numerous calls and emails from my husband and I, I never heard back from the company. Innthe winter, after submitting a complaint to BBB, I finally got a response from Eva. She said they were closed for the season. They would be back beginning of the season. Since the beginning of the season there had been many calls and emails trying to get confirmation on when they would come out so we could resolve the issue and sealcoat our driveway. Finall after a no show, in June, they came and tried to heat and roll the driveway. It did not resolve the issues. It left burn marks in my new driveway. The workers said Eva would call. I never heard back. After many more emails Eva told me they could seal coat our driveway as compensation. I told her we did not find this fair because the problem is still not resolved and we paid close to $4,000 and a seal coat is $200 or less. I saw the crew and the owner Jerry working in my neighborhood. I pulled over to talk to Jerry about how i have not hear back from Eva. He got in my face accusing me of harassment. Accusing us of not sealing it, we cannot until the issue is resolved. He had us confused with another customer as well. He lit a cigarette while he yelled and blew smoke in my face, 7 months pregnant at the time with my 4 year old in the car. He said he would come cut out the lower portion of our driveway and repour it. I have still have not heard back. Do not use this company. They have terrible customer service, time management and ownership. Jerry only cares about collecting a check, not his employees or quality of work.

After sending the down payment money, all those attributes changed. There was absolutely no communication between this company and myself and quite frankly I never saw Lenny again. My main contractor turned out to be a guy named Ethan. My main problem with this company was their serious lack of communication with me. They would call when they were already in route and leave little information on what to expect. I was supposed to know the ins and outs of a chimney rebuild with NO explanations from the supposed professionals. I never really had any conversations with them unless they didn't show up and I would call to find out why. My 1st impression was on the day they were supposed to start work here, after waiting 6 weeks, they requested to push the job back 2 more days. When I was not happy about that idea, Lenny said Ok they would start the next day. The next day Ethan showed up late, set up some scaffolding and then left at 10:30 never to return. Elite had successfully pushed my job back the 2 days they originally wanted in a very sneaky way, by pretending they were starting my job. I really don't appreciate a company that I have hired to act in such an unprofessional manner, thinking they pulled a fast one on their client. Nothing was ever communicated to me through the entire rebuild. Oh, but the day they finished they could knock on the door because final payment needed to be made. The invoice was in my email promptly the next morning. Previously they would maybe show up, maybe not a couple times with no explanation at all. This company felt no need to communicate with the client unless they wanted something. If I questioned something I was an annoyance to anyone associated with Elite. I was a non person with a checkbook to them. Not the kind of company I like to hire for a company with the highest quote! I could not tell you about the quality of the actual rebuild , I was relieved the stress was over. I certainly would not recommend Elite to anyone because in my opinion they are terribly unprofessional and did nothing to educate me about the process, did not like being questioned and after they received final payment reached out so they didn't get a bad review. Hopefully they treat the next paying customer a little better.

I had them come re-sand and reseal, and the sand filled in is falling apart on one side of my patio as well as the edges in only a few months. They came a second time to try to fix it. Told them to let me know when they come because I want to be there whey they start so I can see what they're doing. I did not trust they were doing it well. They came out but didn't let me know and only after they had started, they came to me. That pissed me off, because I explicitely told them to wait until I am outside with them because of that and that I had questions. That request was blatantly ignored. Now about a couple months later, that sand is falling between the cracks and soft to the touch, I can literally compress it with my finger and I now have sand missing between cracks all over the place on one side of my patio again. There's no way they sealed that because that sand wouldn't be soft to the touch and able to compress with your finger! It's not only soft, they don't even put enough sand in it let alone forget to seal the damn thing. The second time they came out, they try to blame it on water, as if I'm an idiot (sure after a few months I expect this to all fall apart). There's nothing that would cause this. Regular rain shouldn't cause a $2k+ job to fail after a few months. The prior company who sanded this patio, the sand was not falling apart like this anywhere. Even after 5 years. Now I'm going to have to refill that sand and fix this myself. Maybe learned a lesson, just do this stuff yourself. Do it right the first time and you won't have reviews like this. Or customers that annoy you because you can't do your job well. They claim "warranties to match our underrepresented workmanship!". What warranty? I got no warranty and even when they come to fix the mess up, it still falls down. Anyone gets rain, even down pours. It's very clear what areas they did not do properly because the rest of the patio is holding ok. I expect a job to last a few years not a few months. Rain and nature happen, we expect this to hold up at least on average 3-5 years. I'm just going to seriously go back to Menards, there's a mexican guy there who knows a lot about this, and he's told me how I can just fix it myself and save money. He explained the different sealants, etc. and the pros and cons. That's exactly what I am going to do. No more hiring people for this. The ants are even crawling into the cracks now. Good times, right before it starts getting cold outside. So glad I have to spend a couple hours fixing this sh** now. I don't normally go out and rant like this but any moron can see this is not done right. You f up the job, you redo it. I expect the craft to be done well. You make mistakes, you fix it. You don't just tell people it is what it is and make excuses like you did with me after the fact.
