Leuchtstoff is a casually hip, cozy coffee shop in the Neukolln neighborhood of Berlin featuring…read moredelicious coffees, vegan pastries, and sandwiches. Staff were friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere of the cafe was very laid back with people reading, studying, or having quiet conversations over coffee. The aesthetic is a bit industrial meets DIY with a lot of exposed concrete, brick, and wood. I thought the plywood sitting lofts were really interesting and fun, although we didn't have a chance to climb up to check them out since they were full. We ordered a cappuccino, iced latte, and croissants with a homemade hazelnut spread. Everything was delicious. If you're in the area, this is a great little spot to grab a nice drink or a snack!

The Flat Whites here are delicious. I finally let my boyfriend try my "secret" cafe that I would…read morevisit when he was out of town. He ordered the chai latte expecting the chai powder with milk but was in for a surprise. The chai latte here is served in a carafe (steamed milk, loose leaf tea, and whole cardamom pods). I could not stop smelling the latte. I plan on alternating ordering flat whites and chai lattes here. On my first visit, I ordered the vegan banana bread, which I would not do again because it tastes more like bread pudding. I tried their carrot cake and enjoyed it a lot. It tasted home made but not "pssh I could have made this myself" homemade. They also serve brunch on Sundays. I haven't tried it yet but hope too! The staff here is always friendly and I feel comfortable sitting here for an hour or so, writing letters or reading a book.

Nursing a drink or a coffee (sandwich, soup, or delicious baked good completely optional but…read morerecommended) in a spacious hipster chic venue (à la your grandmother's living room), laptop in tow, hoping to get some work done? Don't worry, this isn't Mitte. This is Neukölln, so you'll definitely find a seat where you can type away in peace. And much like Berlin, Prachtwerk is whatever you want it to be. I've stopped by whenever I wanted a relaxing place to work with friends--the fact that you can buy food and alcohol makes the work go by even quicker! +1 for the city's freewheeling, entrepreneurial spirit because if my experiences are anything to go by, no one at Prachtwerk will raise an eye if you 1. order a cocktail in the early afternoon or 2. hunker down for a few hours. I found the drink prices to be relatively standard for Berlin as a whole, but they might be a little expensive for Neukölln: €7 for the Adult Lemonade (lavender lemonade with either gin or vodka) and €6.50 for a gin and tonic. Chase it down with a slice of one of their delicious cheesecakes. (I'm partial to the Oreo one.) Hint: grab a seat on one of the elevated couches that overlook the stage at the end of the venue. There are regular events that take place in the evenings so you can wrap up your daytime work and ease your way into nighttime festivities without having to find a new seat!

The cafe is in an old building with high ceiling. A pretty good venue for music I reckon. The price…read moreis reasonable, staff friendly and it has free wifi. A good place to work and chat with friends. However the espresso we ordered was sour. A sour espresso is a classic sign that the beans are either too coarse or over-extracted. It was almost undrinkable. The beans really should have been thrown out.
