Best to order in advance but they do their best for you if you just turn up. Great service!

Centre Flowers

I'm in love with this place…read more Despite my hay fever, I spend a lot of time in florists and with plants and flowers in the house. I love a hearth covered in peace lilies and bookshelves covered in succulents. I grow herbs, fruit trees, and rescue what I can from the dying section of the nursery. I buy a lot of flowers for my Mother and Grandmother, and I've lasagne planted my late and lovely Gran's grave so there are flowers all year round. This week I got laughed at by my best friend for eyeing up a new house with "established vegetable beds". I also love a bargain. There are two parts to centre flowers- open 6 days a week (all but Sundays) you can find them in the square- plants (hydrangeas for £7), citrus trees, arranged bouquets, and stem sets, but if you head down the alley from this square, underneath the sign for the Prince of Wales market (Indoor market on your left), then turn left- you'll find their warehouse on the right, busy people bustling around, managed by their lovely owner, Greg. Here you'll find all manner of blooms in stands and boxes, being being conditioned and prepped for the stall, and possibly your local florist coming in to buy some of their stock. Without stealing from people's gardens, or being trade yourself, I don't think you can find much cheaper than here. I bought 50 gerbera stems for my Mother for £15- they lasted over a fortnight (and she kills everything). They do arrangements, wedding flowers, funeral tributes, or happily hand you great big bunches for you to deal with yourself. If you want specifics- you can pop in, or ring Greg (I'll be honest and say I have no idea as to why there's a baby on the business card?!) and put an order in a week before you want them, and he can get them in- but on a normal day you can walk in and find peonies, roses, gerbs, delphs, chrisanths, basically all of your florist staples. There's also on street parking on the road side of the place if you want to load a car or van. Lovely staff, long lasting flowers and good value.
