This lovely little florist has window displays of such artistry that department stores hang their…read moreheads in shame. When I was here earlier in the week, they didn't disappoint me. Sitting in the window was a cute little table laid for afternoon tea, complete with fine china tea-pots and tea-cups. I had to look over my shoulder to make sure the Queen hadn't been invited round for the afternoon. You see, it's the sort of shop I'm sure she'd like - refined, sophisticated and dedicated to detail. Though they tempt you in, the window dressing is not just 'window dressing'. The whole shop is as pretty as a picture, selling a range of gifts and ideas to accompany their gorgeous flowers and plants. I have to confess I wasn't visiting to buy anything in particular, it's just that this shop looks so great I could lose myself for hours gazing at the dainty birdcages or charming vases. I ended up buying a small bunch of blooms to brighten up my room, but I've made a mental note of what else they sell. This is the place to come when it's my sisters' birthdays. They've just started to do unique, handmade jewellery too!

The freesias looked quite open and on the brink of being past their best. That said the roses and lilies were stunning. I guess that I'm spoilt by the low prices of supermarket flowers. This shop definitely had charm, so maybe paying a little bit more is well worth it.

They have a lovely selection of beautiful flowers, vases, and small gifts. As you walk in you'll notice a large glass fridge with big fresh flowers kept inside. The service in here is well above and beyond. Jo is the manager and is very friendly, happy to answer any question that you may have. They cater for weddings, exhibitions, dinner dances, events..... and so on. They are also part of the NEC, so have no problem fitting out for large exhibitions. The website is being updated, and gift vouchers are available through E-florist. Opening hours are 9am-6pm mon-fri, and 10-5pm on a Saturday.

Whenever I go into Four Oaks Florist I'm always greeted with a smiling face and a beautiful smell. I love flowers but I'm no expert. I'm pretty good at describing what I want and then the girls put them together for me. I always find that if I've left something until the last minute they are always willing and able to help me out, no matter how busy they are. They've saved my bacon on more than one occasion. It may not be as cheap as a bunch of flowers from a supermarket but I prefer to pay that little bit extra to get exactly what I want, with that added personal touch!

It seems that lots of the customers have been in before and are returning as the service and product they have received in the past is so good. The fresh cut flowers that they stock are of the highest quality and the flowers I bought lasted over 10 days. They also assemble and deliver bouquets and have lots of indoor and outdoor plants for sale. Not exactly cheap but this is Solihull darling!

Luckily we've moved now so I don't have to have any urges to get flowers for the missus. The shop itself is fairly small but they have a few arrangements out. If you like you can browse the catalogues they have to see what you want. This is especially necessary for wedding and funeral needs. We got all our wedding flowers, button holes etc from here. You have to park on the busy street outside or walk the long way from the town to visit here but it is worth it as they are very nice and helpful and not particularly expensive. Appearently the council are putting up a blue plaque on the building as a famous spiritualist used to live here or something.

I was told they were going to be closing shortly but would be happy to deliver first thing on Monday. When I explained how desperate I was to get these flowers to my family today and explained my circumstances there was no hesitation to oblige. We had never been here before but it was convenient to the care home she had been staying in. From the moment we entered the shop we were made to feel so welcome and at ease. Nothing was too much trouble to assist us in choosing the flowers in what was a very sad time for us. Today Friday 7th February we collected the flower arrangements. When we were shown the flower arrangement my wife was overcome with emotion and tears. They were beautiful and everything she wanted and beyond hers and my expectations. What a wonderful skill and talent Sarah and her colleagues have. Outstanding value and far better than we have had before. Although we live some distance away we will be back and highly recommend you to pay a visit. To Sarah and colleagues a big big thank you for your understanding, empathy and brilliant work. X
