The staff truly go above and beyond for the kids, and there always seems to be something fun and engaging happening every month. From the back-to-school event and Halloween celebration to the Turkey Trot dance, Lunch with Santa, Bingo, GEMS, Father-Son events, and two field trips each year, the sense of community here is incredible. The tree lighting and Christmas serenade are especially memorable and truly capture the warmth of the school community. This is by far the best school community we've ever been a part of, and it's an absolute gem in the heart of South Philly.

I'm a father of a child that attend Mother Goose learning center. Last week I learned from this…read moredaycare that I was banned from picking my son up or entering this facility. I was shocked to hear this , I ask what was the reason, the director of the Mother Goose, informed me that she had a court order given to her saying I was not allowed to pick up my son or receive a code, given to every parent of a child attending this daycare, so that parents can do surprise visits, to check on their child, safety, and the environment they are learning in. I informed the director that this was a mistake, and could she please email me this court order, detailing instructions that I , the father of this child could not receive a code to enter the daycare or able to pick the child up. The daycare director told me she is not going to email me anything. I said your not going to email me the court order, because you don't have one, you are following orders unfairly given to you by my ex wife. The daycare director, new I was telling her the truth, so she did what a small percentage of Caucasian women , who's confronted with the truth by and African American Male, she "Karen up "and threatened to call the Authorities on me. Knowing I was 100% in the right, and knowing that her Prejudice, was the Result of over a year of husband Bashing from my ex wife, I called her bluff , and invited her to call the police, she then said, I'm not going to call the police, I'm just gonna kick your son out of our daycare, he will loose his spot. I then asked her , would you want your son going to a daycare that you are being discriminated against, made to wait outside Mother Goose learning center, until your child is bought out to you, other parents free to walk in and out of the daycare, while you stand there like, a child Molester, Child abuser or a wild animal, other parents steering at you , trying to figure out what going on here? The director didn't answer my question, she just threatened to kick my child out of her daycare again. I do not recommend this daycare, because of the Discrimination in humiliation I was put through, and the clear display of Karenism towards African American men, and their children.

It's a warm and caring community, and our daughter feels safe and seen. The school was tremendously helpful also in helping her/us navigate a couple of difficult situations, e.g. eye patching, and we felt supported every step of the way. Academically she is thriving in an environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, autonomous thinking & problem solving. She feels very close to & loved by her classmates, and the smaller class size is great for 1/1 attention as needed, e.g. she was able to get additional help with reading.

My daughter had an issue with it and asked for guidance on how to get added study material and the teacher was rude and disrespectful. Grammar was horrible and the principal did absolutely nothing and just let her teachers run all over her. She actually said because the teachers do a good enough job reviewing in class!! What education facility gets mad at a mom for asking for more study material at home?? It is a very small school which was exciting at first but the atmosphere is extremely one sided and they are watered down Christian's. They take Christianity as a joke. It is not a professional environment at all! Walked in to speak to the principal and none of them were dressed in professional attire. The vice principal came out in jeans and a sweatshirt and the teacher was in a skin tight dress. Demeanor was extremely poor and on the defense, and so incredibly rude! Please if looking for schools and you find this one because it is on the cheaper side, there is absolutely a reason why it is cheaper. We made the mistake of bargain shopping but it was a total waste of money. They are far behind on education materials and you are never allowed to question a thing. This was not a Christian school it was more like the reason why people turn their backs on God, thank God I have been a faithful servant of Christ my whole life to see what they were actually doing. A child wandering out of a room unsupervised constitutes a serious licensing breach. I have continuously tried to work with the daycare to resolve the issue. They have forced me to sign an agreement which is a breech of law to supervise my child. they do not wish to work with me to resolve the issue, instead they are trying to switch responsibility to me the parent and have stated several times to me that there facility is not safe for my 2 year old child who has been attending there since he was 3 months old. I do not recommend them to anybody. I get called 2 or more times a week to come pick up my child. this also accured previously but I had let it go but now they have gone to far!!!

I had a very disappointing experience with Children of America in Sicklerville. My 2.5-year-old…read moredaughter attended three days a week, and instead of receiving support, she was labeled unfairly. Staff (preschool teacher) suggested she was "tensing up around Black children," which was extremely upsetting and inappropriate. I had already informed them she is in the process of being evaluated for autism, yet that context was ignored. What made it worse was a staff member pointing out that she was "fine around the white child in the room," which felt insensitive and unprofessional. My daughter interacts well with adults of all backgrounds, including Black staff members, so this conclusion about her behavior felt inaccurate and concerning. Additionally, she was placed in a baby room without my knowledge, where I did not have camera access. I was not informed about this change, nor was I notified that she needed more diapers--they simply used a different brand without asking me. Overall, communication was poor, and I did not feel my child was understood, respected, or properly cared for. I would not recommend this location to other parents.

We enrolled our 3-year-old son at Sacred Heart with high hopes for a loving, nurturing Christian…read moreenvironment. Sadly, in under six weeks, our experience became extremely stressful and heartbreaking. From the start, we received repeated negative feedback about normal toddler behaviour. One bathroom accident was described to us as "the worst in six years." We were told his removing his shoes in class (normal in our home) was a problem rather than something to be understood. On his first full day, because he didn't nap, we were encouraged to move him to half days. By the end of the month, his teacher suggested he might be "better off returning next year." Shortly after, we were informed that our son was on "strike 5" due to having more bathroom accidents than the school allows. This was devastating especially because he had just undergone umbilical hernia surgery and was on a doctor-prescribed daily laxative, which caused temporary loss of bowel control. Once we realized how serious it had become, we immediately provided doctor's notes and full transparency. Instead of compassion, we felt pressure and judgment. Our son began feeling uncomfortable approaching staff when he needed help, which no child especially at this age should ever feel. We did not choose to withdraw him. We felt pushed out by policies that allowed no grace for a child healing from surgery. The emotional toll on our family was overwhelming. A faith-based school should lead with patience, understanding, and care. Sadly, that was not our experience. I share this so other parents can make an informed decision.

He loved it. He fell in love with the teachers, the students, and would sit in the car telling me about his day. Miss Elisha (and Miss Beth while she was there) is fabulous. As accommodating as you can imagine. When I lost my job, they allowed me to change his schedule to make things easier. They knew my name after that first visit. That impressed me. My son never wanted to leave. I had to drag him out for the first few weeks!! As the other poster listed, my son did not come home with pink eye or anything like that. He did get a virus, but who knows how he got it, even though other kids had it too. Even with all that hand washing, some stuff is just unavoidable. He was out for a week with it - if anyone remembers that winter of December 2012, that virus ran over everyone in its path! I recommend this daycare/preschool to everyone I know that works or lives nearby. If I didn't live so far away now, my daughter would be going there right now!
