No one has reviewed the whole of haddon heights' school district yet? I grew up in Haddon Heights,…read morewent to preschool at the Methodist church on garden ave, elementary at 7th Ave, and then junior and senior high school at the Haddon Heights High School (HHHS) all six years from seventh grade thru twelfth. I suppose its not something you should review on yelp since I'm sure there's tons of school reviews elsewhere. But in general, and I can honestly say this, the schools did not prepare me for the future that I, personally, knew I was heading for. Because I test pretty well and have a real knack for retaining information, they tried to enter me into honors which I immediately dropped out of due to the amount of work expected from me. I was a fairly lazy student, you see. Also, most of my junior and senior years were wasted by the teachers telling me that I HAD to go to college and that I HAD to do projects relating to the colleges I was applying to. I applied to none in total. It basically ruined those last two years and I let my grades plummet in every class, especially english. I recognize that college is important for those planning on going right from high school. I also recognize that my teachers did not seem to give even the slightest care that I wasn't that sort of student those last two years. I ended up needing to be brided by my mother to graduate rather than drop out and test for my GED. The high point of my time in the haddon heights school district as a student was the guidance counselors. They aren't even called that anymore because it isn't P.C. enough or something. But my entire time, from kindergarten to senior year I managed to have an adult to talk to about anything that might possible be bothering me. That's something that helped in every way. Honestly, I can thank my high school guidance counselor for a lot but mainly the fact that he just sat and listened. Most parents need to pay for that sort of therapy.

I've been bringing my children to Pennie's Place for the last 2 1/2 years. I've pretty much had a child in every class from Infant up to Pre-k. They have done a wonderful job caring for my children. If there was ever and issue with falling and scrapping a knee, or scratching it was always brought to my attention. Children do those things. My favorite teacher's were... Miss Donna was excellent with getting my oldest son ready for Kindergarten. I'm sorry, my younger son won't have the opportunity to be in her class. ( We moved out the area, but I made the extra half hour commute so my oldest could finish out the year) She loved to have fun with the kids, and it showed. Both of the older boys adored her. MIss Rita( 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 yr olds) was also wonderful, the crafts she did with the kids were fantastic and she was always taking pictures of the kids and sending them home. Miss Kathy, in the Infant center, was there every morning before 7 am if I had to drop the kids off. I would go to her with any questions or concerns and she was always very helpful. Last but no least, Miss Courtney (infant center), she is always so thoughtful. I would often see her playing on the floor with the little ones.

The infant center we were comfortable with. The next class up from infant she would cry not to go... and if you said the teachers name she would look concerned and say noooo then say the ladies name. The owner is never around... I would never send my child there and still regret it! Even looking back at her pictures while she was there that they took of her, she looks sad she didn't open up until she was out of that place.

It is so upsetting that educators are out to ruin lives of children. A simple conversation or meeting could have been held, but not once did they contact me. One day my child was sick and we both were home, I got a call from Bell Oaks saying if they did not know by 11am my child was absent, then they would have called the Police to do a wellness check at our home. SMH. Too much to type, but I cannot wait until the day I can move my child out of here!!

However when my daughter's started middle school and the end of covid started to wind down me amd our family started having issues w money. Bank account depleted and we somehow turned our rent vouchers from the state to keep us in our home in wrong online and we found ourselves homeless for half a year. The school proceeded to make out lives hell because w were poor and now homeless even calling dyfus on us wich got thrown out immediately due to false claims amd they got in trouble for calling them on us for being poor as well. The councilor is the only person in that school with any brains and any sympathy or empathy or understanding, but when you got a tiny little big man principal bossing you around then theres not alot one can do. We spoke to the school about our situation many times. We felt all we cld do is break up the family and have me go stay elsewhere while my husband stayed w his dad. I would be able to secure housing thru ssid if not w my husband and I'm sorry....but the school putting pressure on a family to make that horrible choice was disgusting in every way possible. They acted like it was just an easy call. We been together for over 20 years. More then half my life. Now I had to go looking for a place to live on my own. Well I got that housing akd I'm on my way out o thos district THANK THE GODS....and when we went to get out papers to discharge my kids they all but threatened us saying if they could they'd call dyfus on us AGAIN because they dnt trust us qnd they're planning in calling the new school to make sure they "keep an eye on us". I'm seriously considering getting a lawyer for this. This is flat out harassment due to us being poor. This schools been nothing but trouble my kids were both bullied bullied teachers don't do shit to help the shy quiet kids all my kids teacher did was mad things worse by pointing out how shy and quiet they were to the class. I have moved about alot cuz my husband's work moves alot ...this school has got to be the worse school I've ever seen. Like I said the elementary school was fine but....the middle school gave us issues from day one and that principal shld be fired by how he talks to ppl and the students and the sli.y crap he does to good family's on hard times. Must be nice to never worry some of us unfortunately have too. They don't give a flying shit what your situation is qnd we were horribly discriminated agai st and talking to another family who also found themselves homeless last year in thos same school....WERE NOT ALONE....this schools done this to more family's then just ours. Disgusting. Runnemede school district helps family's in need they treat you like family.....how can a school so close by be soooooo totally different in every way its almost like a culture shock. I am looking into getting a lawyer for the harassment they put upon us and the way they threatened us when we left. If they so much as utter a single word about us being bad parents ciz we had to live in a motel I'm suing the crap out of all of them and rightfully so!
