I went to the Time Out location. It was great having Caribbean food. I had the oxtails with rice and plantains. Good taste but the seasoned rice with the ox tail gravy ate a little salty. I usually have this dish at mom and pop spots so this one was smaller portion with only two ox tails, but still delish is what counts.

Plantains, pikliz & pikliz mayo, roasted squash coco sauce
    Helene C.

I was glad that they have these vegetarian options. The roasted squash simmered in a delicious curry sauce. It's lightly spicy. There are slices of pickled radishes. Refreshing but very tangy! The plantains are served with mayo and coleslaw on the side. I don't eat mayo but I was thankful for the coleslaw. Again, it's super tangy! Caribbean food is delicious!!

    Beef rib, plantain fries

Was in the timeout market and this place caught my eye. The wait time wasn't very long and the service was friendly. They give you a beeper so you can find a place to sit and chill and they'll call you when it's ready. I got the beef rib with a pineapple salsa, which comes with plantain fries and aioli. It was a very large serving for the price (about 30$) and a generous amount of beef. The beef was very good, well seasoned and tender, and the pineaplle made for a nice pairing. I just wish there was more of it, as without it the beef was a bit one note. The plantain fries were an interesting idea, and they were very stodgy and filling. I did not finish them in the end. I feel like this meal could've really used something refreshing and acidic like pickles or a salad with it, as it was a very heavy stodgy fatty meal. Overall I enjoyed it and I would like to try more on the menu.

La queue de beouf, un must et un choix d'ėpices du tonnerre

Petit comptoire du Time Out.

    Jerk chicken
    Andrew L.

I read great reviews on Google and Yelp, so I decided to try this restaurant's jerk chicken. While the chicken was tender with crispy skin, the sauerkraut was simply overpowering. They must have added too much vinegar, making the vegetables far too acidic. It ruined an otherwise 4-star dish.

Jerk chicken with rice, fried plantain and spicy slaw

Stumbled on this place while shopping along St. Catherine Street. This is located inside the Centre Eaton de Montréal shopping center. The food court has many choices. The place is lively and always packed. We ordered the jerk chicken for dinner. The chicken was moist and flavorful; the rice was full of spices and the fried plantain was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. All in all, it was an explosion of flavors. I can't forgot the service. From the time we ordered to the time we picked up our food - it was full of smiles and pleasantries. The ladies were very efficient and friendly.

The place is very small, just one table that will sit 2-3 people and about 5-6 high stools, where you can sit and eat by the window. I arrived and after looking at the menu, I ordered the fried pork (Griot porc) with rice and beans, fried plantains, salad and the Pikliz..it was about $16.75 for the full meal. The plate was big...lots of rice, chunks of fried pork and sides....the pork was a bit on the dry side, so I poured some of the sauce on it....the rice and beans was really good. The fried plantains were not hot nor crunchy/crispy. Not a fan. The salad was fresh. Overall not a bad choice if you are in this part of town but not my favorite Haitian spot.....

We're now Obsessed and a little upset because we can't find the same food back home?! The only downside is that everything is in French, and you order through an iPad, no servers at the front to assist. BUT other than that, the food is SO worth the tiny bit of confusion lol Honestly, I don't know why you're still reading my review. Get your butt over there, you will not regret it!!!!

While I was there, I felt as though I'd been whisked away to Haiti and sitting with the locals enjoying their favourite dishes. The entire experience - the food and the space was truly authentic! First, we tried their appetizer platter. Truthfully, it was more than enough food to be considered an entire meal. There was lamb, Griot, chicken, Miniature Haitian patties, fried yams, and fried akra balls and of course, a large spicy bowl of Pikliz. The meat was tender, perfectly seasoned, and tasted fresh. I'm not sure what filling was used for the Patties - maybe cod. Either way, whatever it was, it was delicious. For the mains, we were served two types of rice, the traditional rice and beans and a mushroom-based rice. We also had fried green plantain, which was fried to golden yellow perfection and a spinach like medley with crab, shrimp and beef mixed in. While the mains were great, the meats in the appetizer platter were my favourite! The restaurant is small and doesn't seat many; however, it doesn't feel crammed. The space is filled with many Haitian artifacts, giving it a very cultural feel. Beside the food and space, what I loved most were the people working there. I felt their love for Haitian food and culture in every interaction. Even though this restaurant is so inconveniently located for me, I will be back because it's worth the trek!

The name doesn't say it, but it's a restaurant that serves Haitian food. I got the griot plate, which included pork, rice and beans, plantain, macaroni salad, and a dipping sauce. Every single item in the combo was extremely delicious. I'm salivating just writing about it. For real. The owner is such a friendly man. He is the one taking orders and his wife is the cook. You need to order ahead of time so your food is ready when you arrive. My friend and I didn't know, so we had to wait for quite some time. During covid people can only do pick up, no sitting in the dining area. Also, a little sidenote that people don't usually write about, the bathroom was very clean! I'm coming back for sure!!

I asked for a card, and not only did Kevin give me a card but also a whole tasting platter with diri djondjon, diri kole, poul, pikliz, and sòs wouj. The rice dishes were perfectly seasoned and cooked well with loose, individual grains of rice and their own unique flavours profiles from the djondjon to the kole/colé. The poul/chicken skin was nice and crispy but still the meat was moist. They were beautifully accompanied by the tang and spice of pikliz--the crunchy and spicy pickled cabbage--and the sweet and umami of the sòs wouj/red sauce. Looking at the menu, the prices are fair for the neighborhood. What impressed me most was the welcome, the kindness, and hospitality!
