This is the color I wanted and showed the mentor and student.

The school is a cool place to go to, the students are very nice and polite and the mentors are there to start you off and to give the students pointers but are busy with helping others. It'll probably be you and the student mostly. I wanted a pixie cut and a nice mellow peach color. I was advised the whole process of cut and color would be 120 dollars (after everything it ended up being 95 dollars or so), for all of that I was expecting more so this was nice. The student that cut my hair was very perky and nice and was easy to talk to! We started off with the cut, my hair is kinky curly and was about shoulder length at the time. She used her shears to lop off most of my hair before going in with an electric trimmer all over the head. I am no beautician but all off the videos on YouTube mostly had the top part of the head separated and trimmed the back of the head for a pixie. I know my hair type isn't what's usually taught in the school so that was probably a factor. I was expecting her to style it after the color but it never came, she was going to put some gel in my hair and let me go. After I requested finger waves a different mentor came over and failed because my hair is too curly and the foam they have doesn't hold enough. I decided to sit under the dryer and leave after. Moving on to the lightening process, the mentor came and a few curious women came to comment on the new cut saying I was getting a 'Big Chop'. No I was supposed to get a pixie, my hair was now like a teeny lopsided Afro. We began with the bleach and it went well! My hair lightened fast and she applied the product evenly throughout the head. She let it sit for about 40 minutes maybe even less. Washed it out and started with the color. When she applied the color throughout the hair it was more of a coral pink color than the peach that I wanted, however it dries a bit lighter but even still I would say it was a light electric coral. Everyone in the school was complimenting her on it and honestly I like the color too! The shaved head just didn't match the awesome color. Overall I would say my experience was positive and pleasant with a quick turnaround. I think the students here are more experienced in longer length hair, if I had gotten a bob cut I'm positive it would have come out really cute. Long story short if you're looking for perfection to the vision you imagined then this salon isn't it, this is a teaching school and everyone is just winging it with the skills they were taught and have. Thanks Brooke and Michael for a nice trip at the salon! I'm sure It'll grow out and I'll give it a try again.

I had such a great experience at PM Roanoke! I was well taken care of by Amber. I got a shampoo, cut, balayage, and style! I came with three friends who got the same thing and we all love our hair!

After 6 hours and 2 students I needed a 110 dollar color correction the next day. Refunds are against their policy.

I called 1 week prior to my appointment to confirm that 1.5 hours would be enough time to have the…read moretrim and color completed to get to my next appointment for the day. I specifically said that my next appointment was at 4 pm. I was assured that it was not a problem and that my hair would be done easily in that amount of time When I arrived for my appointment I was informed by a student stylist that my appointment would not be with the person I had scheduled to have my appointment with, but would be with a different student stylist. First of all, the "instructor"/"owner" was nowhere to be found. She arrived after the students had independently began the process of dying my hair. When she did arrive she had two clients of her own who had been waiting for quite some time for her arrival as well. She began to announce to everyone in the room that she was late because she was at the "DMV and was the next number to be called". I was quite surprised by the nonchalant attitude considering people had been left waiting. As the minutes ticked by I had let the student working on my hair know that I had an appointment and that it was at 4 pm. I could tell by her reaction that she had in no way been told/notified of this even though I called a week ahead and spoke to her instructor. When time became a real issue, I am sitting there with my hair drenched in dye and the students doing their best to remedy the situation. The owner/"instructor" is working on her own client and begins to try and blame the entire situation on the students performance. It was one of THE MOST rude, unprofessional, and tactless things I have ever witnessed from a "professional", "instructor", or in a salon, period. When I began to explain that I spoke with her on the phone a week earlier, she decided to turn the blame on me as well stating "Well, we spoke on the phone and you have really long hair so it's hard to tell when someone is on the phone". At no point in our telephone conversation was I asked how long my hair was, I was simply told 1.5 hours was not a problem. The story ends like this, there was no time left to cut my hair nor was there time to completely dry or style it. I left the salon with uncut and more than half wet hair. The "instructor" did not offer to fix/remedy the situation in any way. I paid for the color and tipped the student (because she did a good job on the color and in NO way was this situation her fault). As I am about to walk out and leave with my hair an absolute hot mess, the owner says "I hope we didn't make you late" with a smile on her face. I have had my hair done many places at many different price points and have even went to cosmetology schools for hair and other services in the past. I have never encountered such unprofessional and poor service anywhere. It is certainly the first time in my life that I have left a salon without the services I booked being completed or with WET HAIR. The complete lack of professionalism on the part of the "instructor" was truly unbelievable. Once again, I would like to reiterate that the student did a great job and I am happy with my color. They should have never been put in that position.

I didn't receive a reply, so at 9:20, I followed up to confirm that she was still coming in at 9:30. It was then that she notified me that she would actually not be there at 9:30. I felt that my time was disrespected, and that this situation was not handled professionally, especially considering I could have gone into work earlier and I had to follow up for her to tell me she would not make my appointment.

The only reason they're able to find any staff is because of personal connections and don't actually care if you have an instructor's license or not before they hire you to teach because they're desperately trying to maintain their public image. Don't let anything you see or hear from them fool you, they're constantly downsizing the kits, cutting out educational/team building activities, skimping out on valuable educational time due to their inability to keep staff and stretching the staff they do have way too thin, all while raising the tuition. It was agonizing; having prospective cosmetology students tour the school when we just had THREE instructors quit at the same time because of how badly mistreated they were and having no real contingency plan, knowing they were getting fed the same lies my class and so many others were. Please take your money and go somewhere else before you waste it on a poorly fabricated sham like this.
