After seeing eight different dentists over the last year, finding Dr. Paul Evans felt like finally exhaling. He is, without question, the best dentist I have ever been to, and I do not say that lightly. Dr. Evans is incredibly knowledgeable, exceptionally competent, and genuinely caring in a way that immediately puts you at ease. From the moment you sit down, you can tell you are in the hands of someone who truly knows what they are doing and actually cares about their patients as people. What stood out most to me was the sense of trust and safety I felt under his care. Dental experiences can be stressful, especially after disappointing experiences elsewhere, but Dr. Evans restored my confidence completely. He is personable, compassionate, thorough, and clearly dedicated to doing excellent work. OFFICE STAFF IS RUDE! Keeps billing me for bills I have already paid. don't go here

* Beware of Excessive Services and Fees* Please make sure you understand what their charges are and how much your insurance will pay before you start any services here, even routine ones. I visited Doctor Evans office on 11/10/2021 for my first visit for a routing check, X-Rays and Cleaning with Insurance. The Good: The office is clean and the staff professional. Dr. Evans is cordial and engaging and performs a thorough exam. The Bad: Doctor Evans did not check the chart and called me by the wrong name. The office does not advise you what their charges are up front (but I thought, how bad could it be for a routine check, x-ray & cleaning, right?). They scheduled me for a separate cleaning appointment after my check and x-rays - I thought I had an appointment for both. I suppose this doubles their chance of reaping their $50 cancellation fee. The Ugly: I asked for an annual check up, x-rays, and cleaning which has generally covered 100%. They charge $390 for a "Comprehensive Evaluation" ($115), "Full Mouth Series Radiographs ($160)"; and Cleaning ($115 that I skipped after getting the first bill). Worst of all they would not work with me on any of the charges after not disclosing the fees upfront claiming it would be insurance fraud to discount a denied claim for unnecessary Full Mouth Series Radiographs even though simple X-rays would have been covered. I paid my "Patient Responsibility" charges of $208.40 after insurance for the check up and X-rays I asked for and cancelled the cleaning. I suppose I should be grateful that they waived their $50 late fee for cancelling that part but I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THIS BAD TASTE OUT OF MY MOUTH. I now have a new dentist that is so committed to his patients that he never charges for check ups that insurance does not cover and they do check ups and cleaning in the same appointment. read more

I understand that due to COVID-19, things are not normal, but the practices of this office are not normal by any means. I was seen once, in the beginning of the year after things started opening back up after our first major quarantine. I was informed that a major portion of my bill was not covered by my insurance and I owed them aprox. $350. At that time I made a payment. Then my spouse lost a job, so I was left with no dental insurance. So for the next 3-4 months finances were very tight. My bill with them slipped my mind, and I never once received a bill for Any amount from his office, reminding me I owed them. After a few months of paying back my Care Credit bill, I noticed that they were billing that account without any authorization, and without sending me any bill, or even calling me so I could know what was due. As I have stated, my initial bill, which I was never given a copy of, was about $350. Now as of July 2020 to present They have billed Care Credit $400. As far as I am concerned these are nefarious business practices. And I plan to reach out to tell them such. read more

I had been seeing Dr. Evans for a long time. My dental work was authorized by the Veterans Administration. His office no longer accepts the VA referral. Cathey (office) says it is to much trouble to deal with the Veterans Administration. I am saddened by the change in their office policy. I always felt secure about Dr Evans great work. Too bad. Paul Evans is excellent at dental shaming and calling me into the office for unnecessary billable appointments causing me to miss work only to be billed. Then after no contact for 12 months the office still bills CARE Credit without permission. Be careful here, the ladies up front seem nice but there is a sickness in the building. read more

Dr. Evans gave me expert advice for a second opinion last week in the midst of the coronavirus I was unsure if I should proceed with my local dentist and I called Dr. Evans as he's the dentist for my father and brother and sister they spoke very highly of them I can't tell you how helpful he was in helping me come to a decision and giving me peace of mind to proceed with my existing dentist thank you very much Dr. Evans I can't recommend you highly enough to those that live in Nevada County readers please note I'm using my daughters yelp account as I don't have one personally read more

Dr. Evans and his staff put me completely at ease and made me feel comfortable and cared for. I have to agree with the other reviewer. He said he couldn't continue to be my dentist since I didn't want "routine radiation" and fluoride treatments. Fluoride is a nasty story, books have been written about it. European countries won't have anything to do with it and there's no difference in incidence of cavities. Dr. Jerry Tenant, MD, says it irreversibly damages the thyroid gland. He makes a big deal out of the "smile" as all dentists are taught to do these days, more important than health. But my stay plate "teeth" aren't the same shade as my real teeth and are also uneven. I once had a pretty good smile, not any more, looks more like a poorly maintained picket fence. read more

I thought I liked this place as my dentist besides their prices being ridiculously high. I also thought this was my mouth and it should be up to me what gets done and what doesn't. But I guess thats not the case here. Apparently I have to have X-rays done even if I don't want that radiation shot directly into my head? I know you can see more with them but that shouldn't mean I am forced to have them done. They give you the option at the airport because they know its not healthy and they cant force people to do it. But I guess dentists have more authority then homeland security now? He was able to treat me for 5 years without doing it. Why all of a sudden do you insist? Makes no sense? Sorry Mr. Evans, your not the master of my domain. I'll find a dentist that doesn't have such control issues and doesn't give me ultimatums like my way or the highway. Thats not the type of care Im looking for in a dentist... Also, fluoride isn't the only chemical or substance that prevents and fights cavities. I would like my pituitary gland to not have a cement block around it... Or do they not teach you about that in dental school? Do your own research people. Don't just blindly trust everything your doctors and dentists say or do. Theres a lot their not telling us and for good reason. Why is it you have to protect your exposed body from the X-rays, but its ok to shoot at whatever they want pics of. I don't think so. Radiation doesn't stop having horrible effects on you just because someone wants a pic of your teeth. Why do you think the assistants leave the room and shut the door. Because its soo healthy for us? Time to wake up people and start asking more questions. If something doesn't seem quite right, trust that instinct and pay attention to it. Theres a reason why soo many people have cancer and its not just from cigarettes, alcohol and fast food... We are getting it from all angles. Radioactive free dentistry should be a very normal option for people. Not an ultimatum of losing your dentist if you don't do it. Its our bodies not theirs!! read more

I went to see this dentist because I needed a crown for a simple broken tooth cusp. I had never had a crown before this in my mouth, but had a dentist do a fantastic job of giving me a one tooth bridge when I was a young man. That went fine. This occasion was far from that at this doctor. The procedure hurt very bad, and the tooth ended up being cracked during the process which caused more pain and an infection. It ended up having to be removed. I had another crown since this at another dentist and all went smooth as silk. I sensed he lacked confidence before the procedure, I should have listened to my instinct. read more
