Italian & Continental Stores

I have been coming here for about 7 years. If you like cooking and good food then its worth…read morevisting. They supply most of the Italian restaurants in the South East. They sell dry foods like pasta (cheap compared to Sainsburys, tescos etc) and tinned tomatoes (again really cheap and proper not crappy). They also have a deli counter with lots of meats like Motadella and Salami's. Also they have a wide range of fresh olives and roasted peppers. I go there and top up if we are having a party but also to stock up on pasta and tomatoes, ingredients for canolis and frozen fish (they have a massive selection). They also sell the best sausages that I have seen/tasted in the area. Definatly worth making a monthly trip!

As Tutti says in their review:Many locals use it as a convenience store but…read more others travel from a distance to pick-up some truly tasty foods which are notably different from those available in the big brand supermarkets. Well worth a visit but do be prepared to spend somewhat more than you would elsewhere. The Missus has banned me from going there unaccompanied there because I keep finding so much interesting stuff. Recently, they moved around the corner into very large premises and offer the additional benefit of parking, which used to be an issue. The prices might just cause your average Italy-resident Italian to squeal loudly in operatic dismay, but that said, it is full of Italian customers. Almost the equivalent of having the Harrods Food Hall or Berlin's KdW all cosily tucked away just round the corner on an industrial estate! If you live nearby then go there. You will be pleasantly surprised and not disappointed. Their entire price list and extensive wine list are online at http://www.italiancont.co.uk/
