If I had read the previous reviews while looking for a place to host an event, ,I'd move right along and search for somewhere else to take care of my rental needs. Who wants to deal with a Banquet Manager who seems bothered that you ask questions regarding the space? Or have to inquire more than once to come in and look around ? Ridiculous. As a long time employee (15+ years), Ive asked previous managers why there wasn't a price sheet and was told it wasn't my business. Fast forward to 2019. A group of Veterans called BULLSH#@ on how things were ran and were able to trim the fat and get rid of those who were not performing and bring in people who had ideas and ethics and weren't afraid to make changes and stay late and come in early. People who cheerfully pick up the phone and answer any question a potential renter has and is able to tell them what the cost would be with no hidden charges. People who know what, at the end of the day, Acker-Moore's intention is: to serve the Veterans, their families, and the community. I'm proud of my employer and the people I'm fortunate to surround myself with. Our membership has grown tremendously and with a larger membership comes more hands that are willing to help get things done, not just at Acker-Moore, but in the community The last 3 years have brought a lot of updates to the building as well: remodeled bathrooms, new floors, fresh paint throughout the building. The grounds are beautiful in the warmer months with the addition of flowers and trees and shrubs and benches. Really.... Want to rent the hall from 6 until 11- great- just make sure you know that you will not be allowed in a minute before your rental time- and if you drop anything off prior to your start time, they instruct their crew to throw it out- Seriously- balloons, candles in bag clearly marked- yep, they pitched them because they were dropped off 2 hours before the party and left in a corner of the kitchen. Game room is great- but check the quarter machine- it quit working half way through the party- no one to contact to fix this situation- which should have never happened in the first place if they would have just checked it before the event. Sorry- but as nice as the hall is- the folks are just too rude for us to ever recommend them. Just know going in- they are NOT easy to work with...

And he stays during your party and comes out before your party ends, riding his motorized scooter. Looking like he just woke up! It's embarrassing, and you're not allowed to come in to the hall any earlier than the hours that you rented it so forget decorating before your guests get there unless you want to pay even more money! He's not personable at all, he's rude, and his personal hygiene is lacking. I'm 100% sure that he lives there, I live right around the corner and his truck never leaves there. He's always on the grounds no matter what time of day or night, and he sleeps in the back room of the hall. Would not recommend, there's way nicer venues to hold your event without being embarrassed by the Hall owner.

I came for the opening of their new…read morerestaurant, Buckets and was pleasantly surprised to see that there was also a Starbucks, cabaret theater, LeBron Jones memorabilia shop, candy store, and grab-and-go beer spot. There's also great lounge and seating nooks. I think there's even more downstairs. I'm not super familiar with the LeBron James Foundation's work in Akron, but this space feels like a great gathering spot for the community.

I asked the cashier how much it was and she stated $17. I decided to look around the Farmers Market first and get the Tote on my way out. I came back and got the Tote, it rang up at $18 this time with tax and asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said No and continued my purchase. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and saw not only was the Tote a dollar more, but a $3.60 tip was added after I said No. I like the Tote but I do not like being ripped off.

The wedding area was also very dark. When the appetizers ran out, they refilled the dishes but attendees sitting further away didn't have a clue. The dinner food was dry, cold, and tasteless. Lastly, I was one of the first to arrive, I am physically challenged and all the handicapped parking places were being used.

Jill also called back up police officers after I sobbed and argued with her about staying until 11 pm, saying we were being rude and inappropriate to the staff. OH and to top it off, the day before my wedding she kept telling me we need to have the wedding indoors because it was going to rain. It was a light mist.....
