The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and had everything we may have needed complete with a microwave, a coffeemaker and mini-fridge. The room may have been their smallest which is likely why it was least expensive, but it had a huge bathroom that was also clean. I let my little boy have the bed and brought a cot to sleep on. It was a little cramped for the two of us with the cot. My only complaint was that our room had access to the room next door and in the evenings the smell from their microwave dinner would waft in. This July I think I'll opt for a larger room, otherwise this was a great spot to stay. I almost buried the lead...they're a stone's throw from the public beach too. We walked over for a late swim the night before we left. This was hugely cool to be right around the corner from the beach. Definitely worth checking into.

It's right on the water and our room has a balcony facing the lake. You can walk to many restaurants and bars. We ventured to the American Legion for sippers and LC Taphouse for dinner. Locally owned restaurant and the food is so fresh and amazing. The motel owners are also local. We were welcomed with warm smiles and check in was smooth and the gift shop was an added bonus. I will definitely stay here again... but for more than a night.

The Amber Elk Ranch was an incredible experience. The ranch offers a wagon tour. I called ahead to…read morereserve seats to ensure a spot. It's a good thing I did as my group had a several hour wait time. Instead of having to wonder around the ranch for hours, we instead could utilize that time to explore Ludington beach. At the ranch, there was a free petting zoo for the children. The petting zoo was small with donkeys and goats. It was just enough to keep the children busy for several minutes. The petting zoo is more suitable for older children (6-7+) as the animals are not very small and cuddly. During the wagon tour, the staff did their best to accommodate their guests during the COVID-19 pandemic by requiring masks and sectioning off rows on the wagon with clear plastic sheeting. Also, groups needed to stay within their assigned rows. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable in the elk and it was informative for both children and adults. It was incredibly fun to feed the elk cows and bulls. After the wagon tour, we ordered BBQ that's offered on Saturdays. The menu and prices are posted in the gift shop. The Elk burger was seriously fantastic and we did not regret eating here. Also, the baked beans is a must try. It's "cowboy" beans made from scratch and it's fantastic. All in all, this an excellent activity and a must-do when visiting Ludington.
