Initially, he told me that he expected to wrap up my return within a week because he was going on a trip. At the end of that week, we set up a call where I found out he hadn't even looked at the documents. He said he'd be done by the end of That week...I followed up with him again and he simply sent me a document with a price, but without following up on the items we had discussed over the phone. For the next 3 weeks, I couldn't reach him for clarification because he was "busy with clients", and then he sent one short email telling me he wasn't sure if we should do my other year's return, but with no opportunity to discuss. He then went on an overseas trip for 3 weeks without notice. 2 weeks later, after more follow-ups, we had a phone call where I told him how unacceptable this communication was and the confusing timelines/expectations. A full two months after our initial "one week" timeline, I finally received the returns but was too worn out to review them with him anymore. I emailed him to ask about a missing state return, and never heard from him again. Nightmare.

I'll start by saying this.....it's the most that I've ever paid for my taxes and the most…read moreinconvenient. I haven't been there in years but recently went this year for a change. They have now switched to corporate....so what does that mean?..the 'rules' of how they operate have changed. Meaning you cannot be in contact with the person preparing your taxes, you have to email the office manager every time you need to reach your preparer and in turn they will contact your tax preparer..which is a real pain. They also will not give you your return paperwork, until it's been accepted by the IRS; therefore, you have to go back in after they file and you've signed. I was pretty annoyed at that point with all of the bumps along the way that I asked them to mail them..which to their credit they did and were very polite about. There were just a whole lot of 'layers' that are so SO unnecessary since they've gone to corporate. The scary thing is....is that I'm pretty laid back and I felt put out. There were just too many hiccups when it should have gone MUCH more smoothly, especially for what they're going to charge you in the end. I would never recommend them to anyone or use their services again. On the positive note, the tax preparer did explain everything to me and they seem like nice people (hence the two stars). But fair warning to others...I wish I knew...you'd be better paying a CPA for less the cost and less the inconvenience before doing your taxes here. TRUST ME!

I was unaware that itemizing taxes makes it "complex and complicated" and therefore simply too difficult for the elementary intellects that are employed at the Springfield location. Omayma and Steve (at the Backlick office) are completely incompetent, to say the least. They are not only condescending, but are evidently of the mindset that the customer is never right making excuse after lame excuse for their own ineptitude. I could have used Turbo Tax and paid far less than the exorbitant fees and not had to deal with stupidity and ineffectiveness at every turn. Steve had the audacity to call me when the IRS did not accept my return due to one of my dependents information being entered incorrectly into the software program and tell me that I gave them inaccurate information. I instructed him to locate my file and compare the hard copies he had on hand of my son's social security cards with the numbers that were input. He reluctantly agreed that the number was input incorrectly and that I had in fact given him the correct information. However, he said that while he sees now that it is a "1" he can see how Omayma thought it was a #2". Are you kidding me? Another excuse to explain away their clumsiness? I almost laughed out loud thinking of how maladroit the staff is. Steve had in his hand a copy of a social security card - PRINTED - a legal document, clearly printed. Do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake I made. Use someone else to prepare and file your taxes.
