My 18-year-old son booked an appointment online with Maria. The price listed was $55, which I…read morealready thought was a little steep for a men's haircut, but it included a hot towel and beard trim. Granted, his "beard" is basically peach fuzz, but I figured maybe they could convince him to trim down that mustache a little. A mom can dream, right? Well, he went, and while he said Maria didn't speak English, so there wasn't much communication, he came home with a great haircut. I'll absolutely give credit where it's due! BUT... he was charged $65. Not including tip. I'm sorry, WHAT? That's more than I pay for my own hair at a salon! I was already questioning the $55, so the surprise extra $10 was definitely not appreciated. My biggest issue isn't the haircut itself. It's that the pricing online didn't match what he was actually charged, and the services advertised didn't appear to be fully provided. So just a heads-up to anyone booking online: Make sure you confirm the price and what's included before sitting down. And for anyone wondering, the mustache and peach fuzz are still very much intact. I tried.

I appreciate that this barbershop is sort of on the cheap side, at least for downtown. I've had my…read morehair cut there, all buzz cuts, about eight times or so. I've had good enough haircuts a lot of those times, and I felt decent about the vibe of the barbers. But the last two times, my buzz cuts have not been very good. I would think it's not hard to do a really good buzz cut, because you just go over the whole head with the trimmer. But a couple barbers have missed spots, and this last time, one of my sideburns was cut at an extreme diagonal angle, while the other one was not. The edge shaving, like behind my ear, had a couple of very noticeable jagged parts, like not at all a straight line. This last barber did the fastest haircut I've ever had in my life, which apparently was not a good sign. So I'm really not at all sure that I will be going back here.

When I stumbled in the front door of our humble home, the first thing my wife said was "Oh hell no!" and sent me directly to Dylan. Dylan didn't judge me and made me feel quite comfortable as he brought me back from the brink of the dreaded marriage counseling. He gave me a great beard trim! So good, I immediately took a photo to send to all my co-workers still serving time on the crab boat to show them what they are missing back on the home front. My wife is letting me sleep on the couch for now (baby steps) and I suspect a few more visits to Dylan over the course of the next year or so and I'll be home for good. Thanks Dylan, couldn't have done it without you. Heart emoji! He does walk-ins which is great because I can schedule my way out of a wet paper bag.
