Very skilled and attentive barber, who checked in with me throughout the haircut to ask what I wanted (though I didn't always understand the technical terms he use). I was the only woman in the barbershop but still felt relatively comfortable. The location I went to was tiny, so it pays to make an appointment. But I was able to get in as a walk-in once I waited for the walk-in barbershop to get back from lunch. I was thoroughly satisfied with my haircut at the end of the appointment. Only complaint was the next day or so, I found a scraggly chunk of hair that was partway between the very short hair on the left side of my head and the long hair on my right side. Rather than go back out to Morro Bay, I just cut it myself so it's less noticable. FYI: I only had the barber cut my very short hair NOT my long curly hair. read more

Back in the day Barber Shop right on the corner, street parking or use the lot. I typically go "On Line" to book an appointment, get a senior discount for us old guys, or take your time and get in on the conversation. Fast and easy does it for me. A #2 buzz for me today with a chrome dome polish please. You can get a nice hot lather straight edge shave or maybe a new style to improve your youth. Either way service is great, these guys are professionals, tip well. Thanks Foodguy-Martin read more

First time ever trying this place after living in the area for 20 years. Nate is a very nice guy but is in the wrong business. My haircuts usually take 20-30 minutes at most, even if I tell them I want it shorter. Nate took a half hour just on the back of my head. He worked so slow. If you want a good haircut and don't want it to take an hour, get one of the other barbers. I was in the chair for a few minutes over an hour. Not cool. Hopefully, he gets better and faster. read more

Great guys. My fiance and I came to Morro Bay after evacuating the LA fires and Jon comped my haircut. True gentlemen. Great conversation. Great scissor cut. This kind of generosity goes so far in a crisis and is proof of the kindness of strangers. read more

stopped in without an appointment for a quick buzz cut. nate cleaned me up perfectly and gave me an 805 unexpectedly! he's friendly and knows how to handle a blade for sure. really cool old school atmosphere in there too. absolutely recommend this place read more

Best barbershop in Morro Bay! The online appointment system is super easy to use and you can see the different barber's availability. They are all super friendly and take pride in what they offer. Jon (the owner) even donates his barbering services for the needy in Morro Bay on select days of the month. read more

Go to this place for your next cut, they'll do you right. Super chill environment, cool guys, and Nate was awesome on the haircut and beard trim. This was my first time coming but it's 100% my new place for a cut. Good price too. read more

Look no further for your next cut in the area. This is the quitacential Gentleman's Barbershop. Jon impressed me beyond words with his professional demeanor and approach to customer service. Every employee exudes the same care and consideration with regard to customer satisfaction. You can't go wrong. Kudos! Thank you for reading. read more

Never trust anyone but Jon (or any of his guys) with your hair and shave. They are well trained, well experienced, and have great business practices for cleanliness. Spoiled myself with the works package (buzz hair cut and hot towel shave); usually have a shot or beer but it was 9am, so I hesitated to ask for a drink, but there is always one chilled for you. Such a staple in Morro Bay and the best barber experience. read more

Top notch service! I had problems scheduling a haircut with my usual barber in Ontario, CA, and while on a weekend getaway, decided to take a chance on a barber up in Morro Bay. After figuring out the app, and scheduling a haircut, I was lined up for a cut. I had ran into this Morro Bay location at the annual car show after walking in to see if they had a shirt for sale. The "Mikes Barber Shop Since 1941" hit a patriotic nerve. So I bought the shirt. That was a year ago. Now I was actually getting a cut. I scheduled with Morgan. After describing what I wanted, he said something to the effect of "don't worry, we'll figure it out. He sure did!! The cut was great. The service was great, and the friendliness and welcoming vibe was second to none. Morgan, I will be back, you have a new client!! read more

I just got my hair cut by Depeche at this shop. I'm here on vacation and needed a haircut. Came across this shop by chance and I'm glad I did. They don't take walk-ins but you can make an appointment on their website. I made one for 30 minutes out from when I discovered Mike's. Depeche is thorough and artful as well as very skilled. She asked me my preferences, which I couldn't really help with, and did a great job using her intuition as to what will look good. Shaved my pandemic neck too. I'm very happy with my haircut and being groomed for the first time since March 2020. Thanks Depeche! read more

Mike's has long been a revered Morro Bay institution, and they deserve every accolade they receive. Walking into their tiny downtown shop is like going back in time to an age of know-you-by-name barbers and friendly, welcoming environs. But the shop isn't trapped in the sepia-tone memories of yesteryear. I can book and pay for my appointments from the convenience of my phone using the Squire app, and know that my slot will be open upon my arrival. Bottom line: these guys do a great job and truly seem to enjoy their work. read more

It's with great pleasure that I recommend Mikes, been coming to get my haircut here for a while, and Jerry and John always do a great and very Professional job, their taste in music is very eclectic and if you're a walk in (though I suggest you make an appointment via the web, it's easy and you're not waiting for your cut) the music will entertain you. Their haircut, beard trims and other services are something I look forward to, they turn Sasquatch into a passable cave man that my wife appreciates. So make your appointment, have Jerry give you the works, leave a tip and relax while they take great care of you. read more

Robert did an amazing job with my haircut. Took his time and worked to perfection. His lines are straight and a super chill environment.

Mike's Barber Shop is the best hands down. All of their barbers are of the highest caliber. Their high quality precision fades keep me coming back week after week. Even with the challenges of COVID, they still find a way to deliver quality while improving the customer's experience by upgrading/updating their shop. I don't trust many to do a fade, but for a reasonable price of around $40 these guys can hook it up with a clean face and they even throw in a razor trim to clean up the edges around the back of the neck. Good haircuts, and great service. Not the best barber shop I've been to, but certainly the best in town and one of the best in slo county. read more

Barber John, you nailed it!! It takes a lot to polish this turd and you did rightly well. Thank you my Friend and I'll see you soon!

Morgan is awesome! Highly recommended everyone here does a great job shout out to John and Tony as well

Amazing place!! Best haircut my son and I have had!! Great job guys!! Keep it up!! Will always return here!!

We are here in Morro Bay a lot and my son needed a hair cut so I yelped barbershops. Mike's had awesome reviews! So I tried to make an appointment but the are walk-in only which was ok! My son and I headed down there and we were referred to Gio! He did an outstanding job!! He was soo good with my 5 year old and did exactly what I wanted but better!! I can't wait to come back!! read more

Walked in and 4 people were waiting. I grabbed a magazine after looking at all the old morro bay pictures and bamboo antique fishing poles. While I was waiting I got to watch a real straight razor shave! Before I knew it I was in the chair. Awesome music was playing, mostly older but a nice mix. But most importantly I probably got one of the best haircuts of my life. Everything was perfect, they even shaved my neck at the end at no extra charge. Lastly I want to talk about their toy collection. It has vintage toys, and they had real Star Wars toys. Seems like an all around top notch barber shop!!! I will be back! read more

I've been coming here for a little over 2 years now. This is hands down the best cut I've ever gotten every single time! I got my hair cut by Jon, the owner, today. He cut my hair really well! Definitely no complaints here. I either go to Jerry or Jon. Jerry does a killer fade. I would go here over a salon any day! I have to admit I was a little nervous going to a barber shop at first, but nobody has ever made me feel uncomfortable. Everyone is so nice and chill. You can even grab a beer on ice while waiting. I've also taken my nephew there several times. He loves getting his hair cut there! They were recently voted runner up for best barber shop in SLO county in the New Times Best of SLO County readers poll. They are the best! Thanks guys!!! read more

I grew up in a small town that only had one barber. You got a great haircut from a local guy who knew the town and new his craft. This place is just like that. No ridiculousness, just solid quality haircuts. On top of that, you get a few extras that I haven't found at other places. I've had straight razor shave for the back of my neck and my eyebrows and ears are taken care of as well. On occasion, I've had my beard trimmed and they handle that perfectly as well. This place is an authentic local barbershop that's loved by the community. Enjoy it. read more

Great barber shop in Morro Bay. One of THEE best in SLO County. The barbers are very knowledgeable in their craft. Super nice guys. The shop is next to PizzaPort downtown. There's plenty of parking around the shop. I believe they open at 9am on most days. Check them out! You won't be disappointed! My wife has been coming here for 4 years to get her haircut short. They are very friendly and she feels super comfortable going into this barber shop for her haircuts. Everyone knows you by name. The shop has been in operating for many years and the owner is heavily involved in community activities. They have two other locations, North MB and SLO at the Barrel House top level speak easy. I probably wouldn't plan on a hair cut on Thursday evenings at the SLO location due to the farmers market. Otherwise, check them out! Great barbers! read more

We brought our 1.5 year old in for his first haircut. Morgan was great. He was unphased by our toddler's constant crying and jerky movements. He even came outside to do the cut because of Covid rules restricting the number of people that can be inside. Great cut, despite an incredibly temperamental child. Thanks! read more

Barber Jon not only serves up a mean cut, he also has a heart of gold. He has been loaning out kits from his shop so that his customers can cut their own hair while we are obeying stay at home orders during COVID-19. He's been doing this free of charge as a service to the community - and even offers Facebook Live tutorials! This is a business I can get behind and will be supporting for the foreseeable future! read more

Went in for a cut a few weeks ago. Went from super long to super short. Had a great time, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and after an easy and pretty quick conversation decided on a style. I was really happy with it the day of and still very happy more than two weeks post haircut. My wife also thought I looked very attractive, always a plus. Will definitely go back when I'm ready for a trim. read more

Always walk by Mikes when we are in Morro Bay, but have never given it a try. Well my son needed a hair cut and I guess today is as good a day as any. The shop itself is very small with only 2 barber chairs, but that is perfect for that old school barber shop feel. The walls are decorated with all kinds of stuff to keep your eyes moving all around the place. We waited our turn and when it was time the young man who was going to cut my son's hair was totally awesome. He treated my boy like he was one of the guys. He got him up in the chair asked him how he wanted his hair cut and then had a great conversation that my boy really enjoyed. When he was done cutting my son's hair, which I have to say was one of the best hair cuts I have seen, he told my boy how well he had done, gave him a lolly pop, and even let me take a picture of him and my son. The whole experience was so cool and my son asked me if he can get his hair cut at Mikes ever time we are in Morro Bay and I have to say that is a great idea. read more
