Why it was just ok: we turned up without reservations around 7:30 and were told it was going to be a 30 minute wait. We asked if we could sit at the bar and were told that was also 30 minutes despite there being empty seats. Fine. We waited. 45 minutes later, multiple parties come in, without reservations. They manage to sit at the bar. We were told it's first come first serve and we needed to just grab a seat. Would have been nice if we were told that from the start, especially since we couldn't sit at the empty seats earlier. We got our food to go instead more than an hour after we first came in. If there was anything else open by the time we found out, we would have just left. Despite this, I'd say this is a good spot to get food to go, or make sure you have reservations ahead of time.

Setting just off of Highway 82 between the tunnel in High Rolls and the Old Apple Barn in Mountain Park, you would never know such a wonderful place exists. A narrow creek flows through the property, and plunges over a 10 foot waterfall into a pond surrounded by trees, with views of the mountains beyond. The property is visually stunning! If you're looking for a place to set out chairs for an outdoor event, you would have limitless options. There is plenty of sunshine, and there is plenty of shade, and if you're looking for an aisle to walk down for a wedding, you will appreciate the layout of the paths that wind along the pond. There is a comfortable changing area that is a portable building, which is also a bathroom. Mountain Parks Events is a work in progress. While it is an amazing place, there are a few challenges that will be addressed as the company becomes better established. It is because of these challenges that I dropped the review to 4 stars. This will be a 5 star review soon! I'll go over those challenges now: There is currently no internet service nor cell phone signal on the property. But, this can be remedied, as internet service exists at the main office, and can probably be extended to the event locations with minimal effort. Parking is not well defined. This is also something they are addressing and will have a permanent solution soon. The outdoor bathroom is handicap compliant, but it is bright yellow and can be glimpsed through the trees. This can be fixed by either painting it, or camouflaging it with bamboo or tree limbs, or something you could bring with you. The paths are still being developed. There is currently no path between the bridges and the pond overlook, but I know that will be accomplished soon. They were working on that while we were there. The paths could be a little wider to accommodate a longer wedding dress train, but those are easy fixes. A few weeks of work and some pavers will eliminate almost all of those issues. This is a company with a solid future! I strongly endorse their services, and I pray you have the same pleasant experience we enjoyed. #todaysdiscovery

They allowed us to sample their wines, which was a great way to explore the different varieties and find something we enjoyed. We ended up purchasing the Pistachio Rosé, which was a unique find. I liked that they offered something a little different from traditional wines, with a hint of pistachio flavor. It was a fun bottle to bring home as a reminder of our visit. They also had a selection of flavored oils and balsamic vinegars, and we were able to sample most of them before deciding on our favorites. We settled on the strawberry balsamic, along with the garlic and basil options. Being able to taste the different flavors made the experience more enjoyable and helped us choose products we actually wanted to take home. Overall, this was a memorable stop on our road trip. Between the wine tasting and the variety of oils and vinegars to sample, it was a unique experience that stood out among our travels. Then we stepped out onto the patio with our pistachio ice cream, and wow... completely unexpected. The space is gorgeous. Calm, open, and the kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Honestly, if I lived nearby, I'd be planning celebrations here without a second thought. Somewhere between the views and the tasting, I tried their pistachio rosé. And yes, I had the same reaction, "wait... what?" But it worked. Different, pleasant, and surprisingly good. Good enough that I completely abandoned my pistachio gift plan and walked out with several bottles instead. A much more unique surprise. The staff were warm and welcoming, adding to the whole experience. No rush, no pressure, just genuine friendliness. We didn't have as much time as I would have liked, and that's probably the only downside. This is the kind of place where you want to linger longer, taste more, and just enjoy the moment. The rental process was seamless; Dylan handled all the paperwork quickly and even gave me tips on safe operation and maintenance to make sure everything went smoothly on-site. The equipment itself was top-notch--well-maintained, clean, and performed flawlessly throughout the rental period. No breakdowns or issues whatsoever, which saved me a ton of time and hassle. What really stood out was Dylan's follow-up. He checked in midway through the rental to see if I needed anything else, and when I returned the machines, he made the inspection quick and fair. It's rare to find someone so knowledgeable, patient, and customer-focused in this industry. Our company rented a Bobcat E60 Excavator first for one day on 7/30/26 and then for a week rental on 7/31/26 through 8/7-26, with the caveat that the equipment could be returned with a full refund if we reported a problem, because the equipment on the prior rental before us was used to demo three homes!! The equipment was not running or working correctly and Uptown knew it. We believed it had been serviced prior, at least to a point that we could troubleshoot a quick fix. We really needed the machine. The overall rental cost us 2,257.27! It never worked properly. It wasn't used! We emailed to an email that the invoice came from: the email didn't clearly state no reply on invoice. My husband then reported it to a representative upon returning it we expected a full refund as negotiate. We received no call or any other communication from Uptown Equipment Rental, but our money was never refunded! Not until I started calling did I get the excuses from the owner. He wanted to work something out but not refund our money. He then blamed us for it being a day late because they were already closed! We drove from up in the mountains to get there but because of slow traffic we were 10 minutes late! His next excuse for keeping the entire 2.257!! What??!! Now he wants to speak with my husband and won't speak with me. Why??! We simply want our money refunded! I'm starting here. Next, I go to Google and the Better Business Bureau!

I have been a long time member of the Hilton Honors Club and use Hilton brand hotels during my…read moretravels when they are available. I booked the Home2 in Alamogordo NM on June 23, 2021 for a 5-night stay from Oct 28-Nov 2, 2021. The room I booked was a one bedroom king suite and it was confirmed (Confirmation number 97711332). I book this type of room due to my spouse having medical issues and being a special needs traveler. Until this trip, I have never had an issue with a Hilton branded hotel honoring a reservation that has been guaranteed with a credit card as I have done. I arrived at the hotel around 9:00pm on 10/28 and upon check-in was informed that my guaranteed room was not available. The desk agent stated that all four of the one-bedroom king rooms had been reserved long term and were not available to me. I asked that one of them be moved for the 5 days I had reserved the room and was told that the hotel would not do that. I did find out that some of the one-bedroom king rooms were reserved after I had made my reservation, however the hotel management decided that they wanted the long term reservation over my 5-night reservation and I was told "you're out of luck". I was given a room and when I entered it I discovered I had been given a queen studio room which was totally unacceptable for my situation, however it was that or "I could leave for another hotel". I went back down to the desk to discuss this but the hotel staff was nowhere to be found for about 15 minutes before I went back to my room. I called the desk 2 more times that night with no response to the phone calls. On a side note, the desk staff person was not what I would call professionally dressed, no name tag, a hoodie, beanie and sweat pants worn in the "sagging" fashion exposing his underwear.....not a good look for Hilton at all. The next morning I went to the desk to discuss my room situation with the manager and was told she was out not feeling well. The desk attendant found one king studio room and offered that to me and a credit for the first night under the Hilton Satisfaction Guarantee which was acceptable to me. I asked to speak to the manager, the desk attendant called her but told me that she refused to speak to me. Housekeeping in the room is by request only and I did request that my room be serviced daily during my stay. Upon returning to my room on the second night, the room was not serviced and I went to the desk and was told there was nothing they could do and they would be sure to have it serviced going forward. Again I asked to speak to the manager and upon calling her, the desk attendant stated she refused to talk to me. On the third night upon returning to my room it had again not been serviced. The desk attendant looked up the paperwork from housekeeping and it showed a "Do Not Disturb" sign was posted. That is correct as we did not leave the room until late morning at which time I saw the housekeeping cart still in the hallway and assumed my room would be serviced. The desk attendant stated that the "housekeepers start on the fourth floor and work their way down, and if your room is not ready to be cleaned, they will skip it for the day". I would expect that if a room has been requested to be serviced, the housekeeping staff would return before the end of their day to service skipped rooms but obviously I expect too much. On Monday morning I went to the desk and expressed my dissatisfaction with the condition of my room by not being serviced and requested a room credit for the past 2 days under the Hilton Satisfaction Guarantee and was told that the front desk manager would discuss it with the general manager later in the day. The quality of the hotel and rooms were fitting for the Hilton and Home2 brands however this level of service quality is not acceptable and definitely reflecting poorly on the Hilton and Home2 brands. The management of this particular hotel is the root problem and needs to be evaluated by the parent company and hopefully will be corrected soon.

The theater can also be rented out for special events. Alamogordo Music Theatre performs musicals here twice a year. The building was originally a movie theater, that has been converted and gradually improved over the years. The technical equipment (sound, lighting, stage) is somewhat bare-bones but adequate. All the seats are good, but the center orchestra seats toward the front are the best. The theater also puts on a series of tailgate concerts every summer at the New Mexico Museum of Space History. Ticket prices are reasonable ($10-$40), in part because the theater is a non-profit and is subsidized by generous local financial support.
