Years ago I was searching for a new doctor to see me after moving to Queens from upstate NY…read more(Rochester). Decided to visit Smart Health Medical and specifically see Dr. Vi and I was so pleased with my first visit I've never gone anywhere else in the last five years! The office accepts walk-ins (from what I remember written on the door, I could be wrong) as well as appointments, and they have great late night and weekend hours a couple times a week. I continue to see Dr. Vi for annual physicals, check-ups and any unknown symptoms even after moving to the Bronx. When I move out of the city someday I'll be sad to leave Dr. Vi behind but while I'm here I cannot recommend her enough. As everyone says, she cares about her patients and takes her time with us. She actively listens and is so well versed in so many different types of treatments and good lifestyle habits. If you don't need pills, she''ll tell you that and offer up better everyday habits that can help you live and feel better. She takes a holistic approach to your health and is in no way a pill-pusher looking to make insurance money off you. Most of my visits result in a clean bill of health after taking vitals, and blood or urine samples on site--if necessary. But when you do need a scan, treatment or prescription she goes above and beyond to make sure you get exactly what you need, when you need it, and makes sure it's covered under your insurance so you're not hit with sticker shock at the pharmacy or referred specialist. The office even faxed my referral paperwork to a specialist when I forgot the paper at home before my appointment. Saved me from having to reschedule or take off work to go home and get it. I could go on and on but there's no need. Dr. Vi has been the best doctor I've ever seen in my 30 years who does more than anyone I've seen to care for her patient's needs.

However, it was time for my annual check-up, and I now have my own insurance which I pay, so on a recommendation from a friend, I seeked out Dr. Charlotten. The office is right in my alley. Plus, the last doctor I had was pretty terrible. 2 hours waits, and he rushed all the time. He didn't even have time to hear me out. So I was glad to be seeing Dr. Charlotten. The staff is very friendly, and on my first visit, the receptionist explained when I need to pay, and when I don't. I was very surprised that on a follow-up for the blood results, I did not have to pay co-pay! The office is really cozy and inviting, which makes everyone feel more at ease. And Dr. Charlotten was really great! He really takes his time with you, and is super thorough. He asks you all the right questions, and I never felt intimidated or anything when I was telling him my problems. He is very patient and tries his best to understand you and gives solutions to your ailments. He gives the necessary tests. For example, he noticed that my sister's tonsils were a bit inflammed, so he ran some allergy tests, and it turns out that my sister is allergic to cockroaches! Which is pretty funny, but sucks for her, cause those buggers are everywhere. Dr. Charlotten is definitely the most thorough doctor that I have ever had. I just hope he does not get too popular, for I will have to wait longer to see him the next time.

I was a bit nervous on finding a new doctor after sticking with the same family doctor for all those years. I got the recommendation of Dr Huang from a friend and my pharmacist from Newtown Pharmacy on Justice Ave in Elmhurst Queens. I went to Dr Huang in early August for my annual physical. They were very busy. They have two receptionist, the phones rang nonstop. During my physical, they were very thorough. They did EKG, urine and blood sample. All the standard stuff. My wife, parents, and uncle also went to see Dr Huang and they all had positive experiences. Dr Huang was extra attentive to my dad because he has a lot of pre-existing conditions. I am thankful for that.

Not to mention then having to pay out of pocket for the medication itself. That is absolutely absurd! Talk about greed! You would think being a medical provider help out your patient especially if you're aware the medication is needed. I was baffled as to why wouldn't the doctor give a few refills now it makes perfect sense! Everytime you need one you call them and if you have insurance they slap your insurance with a fee and if you don't have insurance well cash it up! Time for a new doctor soon as the new insurance kicks in. What happened to doctors actually caring about their patients? This one is motivated by money. Takes 2 seconds to call or send an electronic request to the pharmacy.

I've been coming here since I was literally an infant. Dr. Tang and his receptionist are really nice people. Dr. Tang speaks English, Cantonese, and mandarin while his receptionist can speak the same as him but also Taiwanese which is great for our family. I've gotten my blood work done here many times and never experienced any difficulties. I don't have anything really bad to say about Dr. Tang other than his handwriting. His doctor notes for when I was a student were some of the worse doctor notes I ever seen in my life. My teachers and I could barely make out what he scribbled on paper. His office is no longer in Jackson Heights. Way back in the day, it was near Newtown High School on Corona Ave in one of those orange brick buildings which is now demolished. His new location is listed below. To get here, simply take the M or R train to Grand Ave Newtown and his office is right around the corner from the deli and Gino's Pizzeria. Cash or check only. For bank ATM, the nearest HSBC, Chase bank is about a 5 minute walk away on Queens Blvd. The office is closed on Wednesdays and I suggest making an appointment ahead of time. Walk-in visits usually wait a long time. I noticed during every visit since he moved to Justice Ave, his office has gotten much busier. A simple appointment through the phone will help save you time when you need to visit. 87-08 Justice Ave. Suite 1-I Elmhurst, NY 11373

She hands me a pencil that has been sharpened in such a way that there is about a quarter inch of graphite sticking out and it looks like any pressure beyond resting it on the paper will snap it. She says the co pay is $60 I offer to pay with an HSA VISA card she says cash or check only. That would have been nice information to have when I called and made the appointment. I ask if there is an ATM in the building, she says she thinks there is one around the corner. I step out of the building and the door closes behind me, a woman asks me f this is dr tangs office, I say yes, she asks how o get in because the door man was not at his post and there was no one to press the button. I said I was going to find an ATM and hope a door man gets back when I return. A quarter mile walk to the nearest chase ATM a with drawl and a quarter mile walk back in the rain and thankfully the door man has returned. I return to the office and the secretary seemed surprised that I came back. Now I meet Dr Tang, the first thing I noticed was that English is not his first language and he doesn't speak it very well. I have no problem with immigration, I don't care where people come from or how they get here and I appreciate anyone trying to learn the English language. But I was hoping I would not have to talk about my medical history with someone who I truffle to express myself to. I told him I have had hearing loss since I was 2 years old. He responds saying eating loss for two years. I correct him saying oven had hearing loss since I was 2 years old. He repeats, yes 2 years. I don't think he understood what I was trying to say to him. He had to take some blood and I explained I have a tendency to faint during blood tests, it's my one character flaw. The blood test went fine, but when it was done I fainted. I was in a chair with no arms and woke up with my face planted on the floor and his assistant and another patient trying to help me up. I was ten asked to pee in a cup (a plastic disposable drinking cup) and pour it in a vial. Ignoring the fact that the sample is contaminated by what ever is in the plastic cup the idea that I was expected to carefully pour my own urine from a wide rimmed cup to a skinny rimmed vial seemed like something a hidden camera show would do. Thankfully I didn't spill any urine and returned the sample vial to the tray. Another thing I feel I have to mention was that in his office I noticed a container labeled used sharps (a common site to see in a medical office) but I also noticed that the safety lid wasn't on and there was nothing from preventing them from spilling for would be knocked over. That's like a huge thing in my book, it shows he is careless and doesn't put safety first. So that's my epic review. I'm planning on changing PCPs ASAP

This doctor is open 5 days a week, while a lot of other doctors are only open 2-3 days. 2. There's also only one doctor here, so obviously the wait can be longer, especially when some patients end up talking with the doctor for a while. I've also seen people complain about the student doctors, but they're really just there to help by asking questions and putting the information in for the doctor. It actually makes things more efficient since the doctor already has the basic information and doesn't have to go through everything from scratch. And honestly, there has to be somewhere for student doctors to learn and get real experience. If no one gives them the opportunity to learn in an actual office, how are we supposed to get new doctors in the future? The wait might not always be the fastest, but I'd rather have a doctor who actually takes time with her patients. Overall, I've had a good experience here and appreciate that they're open 5 days a week.
