Family Medical Health & Urgent Care - Great Medical PCP in Corona NY Area... Dr. Celestin

Great Medical PCP in Corona NY Area... Dr. Celestin. I respect the reviews written before the…read morepandemic. But let's turn the page and start anew. Just like our lives will start anew once COVID-19 is stabilized. I can be very critical and outspoken especially with Medical Facilities and Doctors as well as staff. I needed to find a new PCP as my old one didn't take my type insurance. I researched the Doctor-Dr. Celestin. As my main concern is my health needs. I prearranged and gave all my info online before my appointment. So I could just go in and see the Dr. We'll... I must say they were thorough. I got there 45 mins before appt. I asked to fill out last minute details ( which I think should be added to the online paperwork). But the young lady that took care of me did everything rapidly and it coincided with the time I would be called. I was taken into a private office, where every question imaginable was asked about my health and presenting issues. The Nurse that took care of me was kind and understanding. A Perfectionist. She did an EKG and Urinalysis was also expected. Another young lady did my blood work. Which made me happy that they have lab work done there , instead of going else where. I was ready to see the Dr. I told him I'm a good person, but a lousy Patient. As I've never been sick in my life, so as I was growing older I thought myself invincible. Me???? Get sick? Need Doctors? Hell no! But here I was trying to get the best Dr. I could to help me grow old gracefully. Well..... Dr. Celestin turned out to be the BEST. Intelligent, Empathic, listened to me, respected with my thoughts and opinions, though he was the Dr. Lol.!!!!! What I like most he didn't turn to medications immediately, he weighed the options and explained that there are different ways of looking at an illness or diagnosis. When he started speaking about the function and mechanisms of why things may be happening to me and organ functions. It opened my eyes to a whole new world. I loved that he broke things down in plan English and lay mens terms. I left that office motivated, satisfied, educated and happy. There's a medication he changed and gave me only a 30 supply because he wants to see how I react to it. Instead of giving me a 90 day supply which I may not use if it doesn't work and that's a waste of money. I need some test, the front desk gave me the referrals to make appts when I'm ready. All in all I have to say , they have a good set up there. I'm not saying that things don't happen and one day I may have wait. Or things may not go as I thought. Just bear in mind we are only human. Things happen. And we have to slow down because life in NY is hectic enough. This is my experience after not seeing a Dr. for a couple years due to COVID. I hope you give them another try. Millie

Hit or miss with this office. Wait time is long. Front desk staff rude 75% of the time. Went for…read morean emergency. Could barely speak, throat swollen couldn't swallow and Pia at the front desk tells me that they are booked till 7. She was trying to discourage me from waiting. Mind you I arrived by 5 p.m. and the office closes at 8 p.m.. She had the nerve to ask me if I had gone to work today sick? Excuse me that is none of your business. What does me going to work have to do with anything? You do not know my situation and you do not know when I started feeling sick. Its unfortunate to give such a terrible review because the doctors are knowledgeable and kind.

While it was easy to schedule and take tests, there were employees who around Christmas time failed…read moreto renew my prescription as requested by my insurance. I ended up dizzy and falling at home. Then I called to get samples of the medication one day before I had to see another doctor for psychiatric care and they never picked the phone. The employees were questioning my thought process when they're front desk and not a doctor of any kind. The one good thing out of these situation they got fired after another patient almost went to the hospital. Then staff members called me at home to demand I see them when it's my choice the insurance company said they don't make the decision where I go it's my choice. Second the doctor was trying to sell a debrillator on the first appointment I told him you don't even know if I need it. His response was silence. Two years later of appointments, I get a call to be measure for a debrillator which was unnecessary as the cardiologist told me I was out of the danger zone and didn't need one. Needless to say, I stopped going there as the doctor is money obsessed and giving patients unnecessary surgery to make money. These surges are every six to ten years which I researched about because I wondred how much it costs that the doctor would insist about a debrillator. Next time someone gives me a recommendation, I will tell them I will find a doctor my own . I have never encountered so many problems at one doctors office!

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this review. The staff themselves are mostly very…read morefriendly. But courtesy and good bedside manner only goes so far in delivering adequate service. I made an appointment with this *cardiologist* (emphasizing for later) office for some testing due to a concern I had and a referral that I had gotten from my PCP. The office did a very inefficient job of coordinating when I would get tested. My first visit was basically just baseline vitals and me explaining my reasons for a visit. Then I had a follow up visit for testing (which was two weeks later) but only one test of two could be done because the appropriate medical professional wasn't available. I was scheduled for a subsequent follow up (for the other test) a week and a half later. After that test was done, I was then scheduled for another follow up another week and a half later. Which turned out to be a visit to FINALLY receive diagnosis/results. Why wasn't that last follow up scheduled BEFORE (when the follow up that was due to their staff absence was done) so that it could have been less time to actually get results? I don't know. But it annoyed me to have to wait for a month to go through what I assumed would be routine for this kind of office. Lastly I never saw the cardiologist once. I saw a physician assistant, nurses, medical techs, and secretaries. The actual cardiologist never spoke to me. The physician assistant went over an interpretation of the results behind their computer without showing them to me to go over them together. When I received my copy of the results afterwards, I had questions that I wanted addressed, but I didn't want to bother going back because I was already dissatisfied with this level of service. I'll never return here again. Maybe because they receive a high volume of Hispanic/Spanish-speaking clientele (a lot of my people unfortunately have low standards), they probably won't care about my feedback. Maybe more optimized and efficient service is given to more critical patients (which I'm admittedly not), but this is a private practice, so ideally you'd like all your patients to leave somewhat satisfied right? Maybe I'm asking for too much in 2019? I'll find out when I visit another cardiologist next time.
