Patrizia used to be a physicist--a real, bona fide rocket scientist! (Ok, I'm not sure exactly what her field of research was, but I'm still impressed!) That alone should say a lot about her enormous intelligence.
As a therapist, Patrizia excels at being an active participant in each session, truly helping her patients make sense of their problems. I have spent years working with various therapists, and I used to hate going to sessions, explaining what was going on in my life, and being faced in return with a blank stare, or (my favorite) the generic therapist response: "How does that make you feel?" In contrast, Patrizia always gave feedback and guidance. During our conversations Patrizia showed herself to be wise and immensely compassionate. She was able to challenge me to see fresh perspectives on old problems, and she gave me real techniques and "homework" assignments that actually made a tangible difference in my day to day life.
Another noteworthy thing about Patrizia: as a therapist she has an interest in role play, drawing, and other more creative approaches to therapy sessions. Personally, I'm a plain vanilla, "talk" therapy sort of person, and she respected that and was excellent in that role as well.
Out of the 4 different Bay Area therapists I've seen for regular stretches of time (at least a year each), Patrizia stands head and shoulders above all of them. And she was WAY more affordable than the others. She's a true gem, and we'd all benefit from working with her. read more
