The location is perfect with its close proximity to New Braunfels, yet still retaining that country feel and quietness - so relaxing. There are many things to do and see in the area as it is within easy driving distance to San Antonio, Austin, and many of the attractions that this area has to offer. While the resort is fairly new, it has many mature trees in some sections that make it feel more established and fresh at the same time. Everything is kept up and maintained to a very high standard. We're not sure that you could find cleaner facilities than what this resort offers. We really enjoyed the amenities that were available for use during our stay. They have large gas grills on the patio next to the pool that were available for use. We were also able to use the oven in the grand room, which came in handy more than once. One of the things we enjoyed the most was the firepit area as it provided us an area to gather and have social conversations on a regular basis. And the activities calendar kept us busy and engaged - loved it! But the BEST thing about Canopy is the amazing staff and everything that they do to create a sense of community at this resort. Without them and their efforts, this place would be a really nice facility without any soul. But Devyn and her staff are a large part of the secret sauce that makes Canopy so much more special. We quickly felt like we were a part of larger family or community - a sense of belonging that is hard to describe and yet so wonderful to experience. Before we left this year, we made plans to return next year and for the foreseeable future. We are proud to call Canopy our winter home and would gladly recommend it to anyone else.

The beds were just ok, but MUCH better than a traditional camping situation. We really liked the shelving units for all of our items. The mini fridge, microwave and other kitchen items were very nice to have. We were also very thankful for the fire pit, grill and picnic table. The bathrooms near us did not have any lights or a/c turned on. They worked and were clean, but didn't have any electricity. We used the bathrooms that were down a little form us. They did have lights and were clean. I was nervous about the bathroom situation. In other reviews, people were saying the bathrooms were a mess. This was not the case with our trip. I hope they keep this up. Having clean bathrooms is very important. I would not come back if the bathrooms were a problem. It had rained, so the river was running pretty good. The 3 hour float was only 1.5 hour(s). The tube rental was easy, $30 per person for all day. They take you back to the campsite and you can float as many times as you would like for the $30 daily rate. They also allow you to have multiple tubes for you and your ice chest at no extra charge. I highly recommend coming to Son's River Ranch.

But you can rent tubes, if you want to float the river. I happened to step into a pile of ants at the based of one of the trees. Wouldn't recommend that. These little guys also found their way into our picnic fruit, so make sure every food item you bring is secured in an iced cooler 100% of the time you aren't eating. The water is so fun, you won't want to leave. I got a little sunburnt, so if you're pale like me-make sure you constantly reapply.

I thought a long time about writing a review for this place as it would have to be a one star…read morereview. Today at a Yelp event one of the guys said I should write one for sure after just mentioning a little of what I experienced. So this will be a warning for everyone that goes there. I went there on multiple occasions and talked with the owner and the general manager several times. And the owner is a very difficult person that can explode on you for very little things. He did so ones on me in person and he also send me a very disturbing email that was very offensive and insulting. If you read some of the reviews on Facebook and Google you will see how he is. He doesn't believe in many laws so the property has open holes and unsecured drops all over the place, this includes a mine shaft if you want to call it that way that goes I would imagine 50 to 100 feet deep into the ground and is unsecured. He invites people to take mud baths in there. Next is the GM, he also only follows the laws he likes to apply, so I personally know that he flew his drone illegally next to an airport in a manner that is quite questionable. The indention of the owner is quite nice, he takes old materials and build new things out of it, but he doesn't follow any laws and is very rude to everyone. His property is a mine field of dangerous spots that are just waiting to injure visitors that want to see the houses. I don't give one star ratings very often but after what I had to endured and the fact that I am still waiting for a payment from them, I finally had to write this review.

We stayed in two of the large "tents" and one of the smaller cabins. It has a wonderful rustic flair to make you really feel like you've gotten out of the big city, but still comfortable enough with the temperature controlled setting and the wonderful mattresses to make sure you're well rested. They have a variety of things in a large plot of land, including a river you can swim in, various trails to take your golf carts around so you can see a variety of wildlife, including deer and armadillos, a very nice pool and hot tub with a full bar right next to it, and other small things, including a cornhole set and a Pickleball court. What I think blew me away, though was the incredible hospitality of those who worked there, they were genuine interested in making sure that we were as comfortable and happy as possible, and the very delicious breakfast that they made for the house, the pond request. Whether you're with the family, having a romantic getaway, or just simply wanting to enjoy the beauty of the Hill country, I cannot recommend this location enough.

The owner, Kelly, got me set up and helped me get pulled in. I thought that was very nice. That evening Kelly walked by and saw me brushing my dog and commented that she didn't realize how big he was and I told her not to worry he'd lick someone to death before he'd hurt them and she huffed and just walked off muttering something about borrowing trouble while her unleashed dog pitched a fit. I couldn't even sit with a show trained retriever but her shepherd had the run of the place all day and night. A couple days later she came by and complained about the way I was parked. I mean she guided me in there, was she forgetting things? I even began to wonder if she was the same person that checked me in at that point. After that it was something every day. power cable on grass, water leaking , it was the A/C drainage. If she saw me I got a good chewing on about something else every time. it was always something that should not have even caused a concern but bothered her. Finally, I was sitting on my patio when a deputy pulled up with her following behind in a cart. She said she wanted to look in my trailer with the deputy. i declined as I had no idea what this was about. When I declined the deputy handed me a notice of eviction. He then informed me I had 24 hours to leave. I still did not know what I did. So, I handed the eviction back and said I refused the method of delivery, but would be gone in the morning. And just like that, I met another disturbed person in my life's journey. I never found out what she thought I was doing. I wasn't even sure if I had ever done anything questionable in that trailer.--NO... I was busy all the time with work and pretty much just came home, walked the dog and had a couple drinks before going to bed there at night. Strange! Of course I would never go back even if it has been a few years. Beware, not all is as it appears at that park. I have heard a lot of stories since sharing mine. Some are downright bizarre.
