What absolutely beautiful clothing!…read more The pieces designed and produced right in the store are both classic and unique, well made and oh so totally Montreal - I am %100 saving up to buy a pretty summer dress/skirt from here. What I liked most about the dresses was not only their fit and fabric but I can just tell that they will be able to withstand the wear and tear that is inevitable for me when I spend all summer biking around Montreal. The space itself is cool and is host to a variety of events supporting local art and music. Big fan!

When we walked in, the vibe and the atmosphere seemed a bit negative - while the store itself was bright and clean, the sole employee on-site was a bit stand-offish. He was watching us like a hawk, and it kind of made us feel quite uncomfortable. The selection was also slightly limited, and the 'sales' corner in the back had one red sweater that seemed almost like a keeper, but the size was way too big. The hubs was not a fan of the store, as he thought the quality of the items were of cheaper material, and the customer service just left a bad taste in his mouth. I used to sell yarn and fabric, so I loved the different textures and materials on display, from a luxuriously dense knit sweater to an elegant silk blouse. The design of each item was trendy but approachable -- I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda lady but I saw things I would wear. So why didn't I come home with a whole new wardrobe? Price, of course, sigh. Les Étoffes is definitely a special-occasion boutique, and alas I was only sightseeing. While I was there, though, a young man was trying on shirts and mentioned that he was making his first L.E. purchase. It seemed like he'd been looking forward to that day for a while.

Yes, shoes and sneakers are a definite draw here, but there seems to be so much more hidden around every corner. Bespoke-Gasms! This is absolutely the most amazing bespoke men's accessory shop I have ever…read morevisited. The store is quaint and located in a more touristy area of town in Old Montreal located near some other quality (and non-so quality stores). They carry ties, bowties, belts, watches, wallets, rings, bracelets, cufflinks, lapel pins, necklaces, underwear, and other accessories. Much of the store includes finely curated, quality brands that are often hard to find. But their crowning gem are their custom ties and bowties. They have flare, can be bold in modern, and yet are crafted from fine silks and cottons from all over the world. They'll even make something with fabric of your choosing--tailors for men's accessories! Genius. The staff was one of the tailors and super helpful and engaging. She goes on trade shows and tends to sell out everything when she goes. There are very few repeats and eat time is unique. I'll be visiting each time I'm in Montreal and likely will be sending some email requests shortly.
