I like to take photos and am always snapping pictures left and right while I'm out and about. But when I received Matt's photos after both of these events, I had to ask myself why I had bothered; his artistic eye and his amazing ability to take fantastic photos that beautifully capture the mood and the energy of the event and the people involved is just amazing. I am especially impressed by his ability to shoot great pictures in low light, which I find incredibly tricky. In addition, Matt is a consummate professional, very responsive and easy to work with, and prompt with producing the final product. As if that weren't enough, he is very generous with his time and has a spirit of volunteerism that I really admire. I'd definitely recommend him for all of your photography needs; both the person and his product are top notch.

He's not cheap, but charges professionally for professional work. I work by the hour or gig, too; I understand charging what one is worth. Two things to note: His studio work is in a shared space (which works fine) rather than a permanent studio (lots of it is on location, of course), and he doesn't accept checks (and upcharges for credit cards). Can't say I blame him. That's easily handled by electronic payment such as Venmo or direct bank transfer, no muss, no fuss. I'll update this when the album cover's finished.

I searched through almost 90 websites of Austin photographers and eliminated all but three. Most were the same dull, stock poses and backgrounds that don't tell you anything about the person in the picture. Of the three whose portfolios I liked, one was VERY expensive, one didn't reply to my query for more than two weeks...and one was John Langford. John was very prompt in responding, answered all my questions, and -- most importantly -- GOT what I was looking for. We set up an appointment and it was fun and easy, not like my previous photo shoots. John has a great eye, makes good suggestions on poses and expressions, and I was super-thrilled with the results of our session. Everyone who's seen the pix has been impressed, because John truly captured my personality and sense of humor. These are the best promo shots I've ever had! About Ben: I've…read morebeen working with Ben for a couple of years now (I'm a musician) and can truly testify to the awesome works he's done. Ben isn't your average studio photographer. I love that he places himself in the field amongst the people. Whether it's a live action shot or a blank stare into the lens, Ben finds an opportunity in every shot. The Photoshop affects are not over done which retains the rawness that I love in his photography. Cost & Availability: Compared to others I would say that his probably in the mid range. Now this doesn't mean that he couldn't charge more, but it makes him more accessible. As far as availability, just like anything else, advance notice is key. I can usually call Ben up for a shoot 2 weeks in advance. Overall: I enjoy Ben as a photographer and person. He's chill and laid back like me and doesn't mind constructive criticism. It's been a fun time watching him grow his talent and I look forward to working with him soon.
