One would think if you are spending your valuable time and money, they would at the very least run the vehicle through for a courtesy car wash? Maybe they only provide such a courtesy if you spend above a certain amount of money on a repair? Also, can just go one time without these dealers trying to sell you on over a thousand dollars in various filer/various fluid change services/etc.. I would not normally write a review after one bad experience, but after multiple frustrating interactions and far too much wasted time, I feel compelled to share our experience. We have a 2024 Hyundai Palisade with only about 20,000 miles, and it has already died on us twice. Unfortunately, that has meant interacting with this service department far more than I would have expected with a nearly new vehicle. The customer service has been consistently terrible. On one occasion, I brought the Palisade in for a routine oil change and learned there was an outstanding recall. I was then told I could not have my car back until the recall service was performed.... TWO MONTHS later. They did provide a loaner after a period of time, which I appreciated, but keeping a nearly new vehicle for two months because of a recall suggests a much bigger problem with Hyundai's ability to support its own vehicles. Even routine service is frustrating. Every time I come in for a complimentary oil change, I feel like someone is trying to sell me something else. Even worse, at least twice I have received a Hyundai mailer telling me that I am due for my free service, made the appointment, driven to the dealership, and then been told I am actually about 3,000 miles too early. But, of course, they are happy to do the service anyway if I pay for it. This most recent time, I called in advance to ask if I was due for the free service, only to be told someone would call me back, and no one ever did, which is something that consistently happens with this place--lack of follow-through, even when I ask for things to be escalated to managers. What bothers me most is the response when I express frustration. Rather than acknowledging the inconvenience or trying to help, the service staff have been argumentative and essentially told me to take it up with corporate. There seems to be very little ownership of the customer experience. At this point, our family cannot wait to get rid of this car once we can do so without taking an unreasonable financial loss. Review for Patrick Hyundai Schaumburg service department. 0/5 stars. I've gone to this service department since I bought the car from them in 2020. 2020 Hyundai Kona. Brought in April 2026 for AC issue (blowing hot air). I attempted recharge at home, no luck. Brought to them, they said no leak of which (they said) they confirmed with dye placement and recharged AC recharge, cost about $400. But its odd that a 6 year old Kona needs an AC recharge, you would think there's a leak somewhere since its not that old. Brought the car back 7/6/26 due to AC issue again. I prefaced the appointment saying I brought the car in April 2026 for the same issue of which they looked at and told me it needed a recharge, nothing else. They looked at it and said the condenser looked damaged and needed replacement. You would think that since its the same AC issue and 3 months later, there would be some warranty on service but no. Charged about $1400. They said they still have to charge me for another AC recharge even though it was missed 3 months ago. I've repeatedly asked this is the same issue that was originally brought in 3 months ago, and still full price and no discount? Then they throw in, "best we can do is take $100 off". Another problem was the service advisor. I worked with service advisor Tyler. I dropped off the car 7/6 in the afternoon at my appointment time. I didn't hear back from them the same day. I called around 6pm in the evening for an update the same day but no one is answering at service desk. Spoke with the operator and she called the department without any answer. She then said they were probably gone for the day even though they close at 7pm. So, they are just gonna keep my car? No update? No loaner?? I was upset that I was not updated that the car needed to stay overnight of which Tyler did not even mention about when I dropped off the car. This is my wife's car that she drives daily for work. I don't have a loaner so now she has to take my car to work which leaves me carless, luckily I'm off work. The next day 7/7, no call back in the AM. They would at least call in the AM to update me?? But no call back. I called the service center around 10am, again no answer at the service desk. Which doesn't make sense, they are always sitting at the service desk waiting for customers to roll in. I called operator who transferred me to someone in service desk. She said she will take a message and have anyone from service team call me back. No call back until about 1.5 hours later by 1130a. TLDR: dropped off car 7/6 at appointment time in afternoon 1:15p, no update that car was not looked at and needed to stay the night. No loaner car. No update until way later around 1130a 7/7. Estimate cost was $1400. No discount or lower price because its the same issue from 3 months prior. Charged AC recharge in April 2026, they still need to charge another AC recharge for this estimate. Asked for it to be removed, since its a misdiagnosis, they won't removed. They also still charged me $200 diagnostic fee because its their policy, again even though its the same issue 3 months prior. Won't budge on the diagnostic fee. No communication or updates. Was a loyal customer but no longer. RECOMMEND GETTING SERVICE FROM LOCAL SHOPS. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Patrick Hyundai's service department. My car was dropped off on Friday, July 10, at 11:00 a.m., and I wasn't able to pick it up until 5:00 p.m. on July 20. Throughout the entire process, communication was almost nonexistent. I constantly had to call for updates because no one reached out to keep me informed. The service department never answered the phone, I had to leave a voicemail every single time. On the very first day, I didn't receive a single call to explain what was happening with my vehicle or even to let me know it would be staying there. I didn't receive any information until Sunday, when I finally spoke with Peter Rybacki. To make matters worse, I was told that my service advisor, Tyler Schulz, was going to be on vacation, yet I was still assigned to him, which likely contributed to the lack of communication and delays. I did not speak to him once on the phone or when I got to the dealership to pick up my vehicle. It would have been nice if he explained what the problem with my vehicle was and the process. I will say, Erik Favela, who was not my advisor was more helpful and explained what they were going to do with my vehicle after I asked in person. For days, I was repeatedly told they were just "running tests," with very little explanation or indication of any progress. Then, when I arrived on Monday after being told to pick up my vehicle, Peter said, "I don't think I called you," and acted as if he hadn't been the one who told me to come in. He stepped away for a moment, then came back and said, "Coincidentally, your vehicle is done. Give me five minutes to finish." I was then asked to wait in the waiting room, but it ended up taking much longer than five minutes. The entire experience felt disorganized, slow, and frustrating. I understand that diagnosing vehicle issues can take time, but keeping customers informed should be a basic part of good customer service. I expected much better communication and professionalism from this dealership. Do NOT go to Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg. Go to Castle Hyundai in Downers Grove instead. Even if it's a longer drive, it will save you time, money, and stress in the long run. On 12/1, I brought my car to Patrick Hyundai after it wouldn't start. I paid over $1,200 for a 50K-mile service and a new battery. The very next day, my car wouldn't start again. Multiple calls went unanswered. After days of towing delays, poor communication, and no loaner car, Patrick Hyundai claimed the issue was engine wiring. When I finally got my car back on 12/10, they had left loose cables inside and an uncovered razor blade on my driver's seat. Two days later, on 12/12, my car shut off while I was driving on a four-lane highway. It was terrifying - my head hit the steering wheel. I had it towed to Castle Hyundai in Downers Grove, where they identified that Patrick Hyundai had improperly installed the battery cables. Castle fixed the issue, treated me with care, and returned my car washed and ready to go. As of 12/19, Patrick Hyundai has still not refunded me or responded, even after I filed a complaint with Hyundai USA on 12/12. Patrick Hyundai prioritizes profit over safety and customer care. On 11/15/2025 I scheduled an oil change and fender liner replacement 2-3 weeks prior to date and confirmed it by text. When I arrived, I wasn't told I needed to pre-pay for the part -- if I had known, it could have been done today. Instead, I waited three hours for an oil change and tire rotation, and was then told the fender liner couldn't be done at all. This was the main reason I scheduled the appointment, and the lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. The damage was severe so the put on the spare tyre so I could safely get around. The service area is busy but they got the car to me within the times allocated and the delivery of the new tyre. But I must say, when it came to the finance manager that was a completely different story. Upon meeting him, all was super friendly BUT once we got to the "upselling" of the 'add on's" which can get rather pricey, as we all know, his demeanor changed considerable. Just to start off the review I agreed to $300 for a repair not $900. Had a minor issue revolving one of my wipers front windshield and to fix this, I was charged triple the original amount with no written authorization for the increase. Taylor in the service department claimed I "agreed," which is simply false. In Illinois, consumers must approve price increases before work is done. That did not happen here. I was never given an accurate price by Taylor regardless of the fact that I requested one various times to which he kept brushing me off and then threw a random number. I want to note that the sales people who sold me the car and 2 other vehicles purchased through this dealership were excellent--transparent and professional which is why I decided to stay with this once amazing dealership.Unfortunately, the service department completely undermined that experience. Any chance of my trading my vehicle or ever stepping foot in this dealership is gone Because of this, I will be servicing all three Hyundai vehicles I own at a different Hyundai dealership going forward. My Hyundai Sonata 2017 seemed to have engine oil burning issue, so in November of 2025, I brought my car in for oil change and the service team initiated engine oil consumption test. During this visit, I was told that I was supposed to bring the car before it runs beyond 1500 mi from the date of initial test date by Michael Vanhoosier. I spoke to Michael on later date after the oil change over the phone to double check and make sure, and i was advised that as long as i bring the car in before 74600 miles, there wouldnt be any issues. Now in Jan 2026 (Jan 14th), I called to schedule an appointment for the testing before I exceeded 1500 minutes (currently around 1300 minutes since initial testing date), and service team was advising over the phone that oil consumption test cannot be done if mileage exceeds 1200 milage. I left a few voice mails for Michael to get back to me on whether I should bring the car in ASAP or not so that I wouldn't go past the required milage. No calls were returned, and to speak to anyone regarding this matter, I bought the car over to the dealership to talk to anyone regarding this, but Michael was already gone, and there was no one that can provide confirmation whether could at least drop the car. Then service was telling me that I was supposed to bring the car after 1000 miles. So far i have received 3 different milages. I'm dropping my car just in case, but I can't say I was satisfied with the service. read more

The vehicle is great, but that is something that is not attributed to the dealership but rather the manufacturer. The dealership lacks transparency, and does not honestly communicate what the customer is getting from a protection package/program perspective but still pushes the upsell. The Service Department and client advisors also sets a high expectation on satisfying its customers only to fall extremely short of it. I do not recommend purchasing from this dealer. If I could give negative stars I would. We found a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe at a very good price. See pictures below. I emailed and confirmed that they had the vehicle and set up an appointment to drive. Called back to confirm price did not include any bizarre rebates I don't qualify for, was told that this was the price and they would have it ready when I arrived. I brought a copy of college diploma and filled out credit app. Arrived and was told vehicle was a service loaner and a customer had it but they had one just like it, they pulled it up. The service engine light was on but they said they would check, it was fine. Here comes the bait and switch part. This vehicle wasn't just like the other in fact it was $4,000 more. In fact, the service loaner was even priced wrong. "Parts and service manager" comes out to tell me it was priced erroneously and there is a disclaimer on the website. I stated that I didn't just count on the website or the email I called and confirmed price and that the car was there waiting. We drove 45 minutes to be lied to for an hour. read more

Oh my God, unbelievable dealership. This is the most unprofessional and unethical dealership I had experience with. The crazy part is that when I was a kid I used to see their commercials the Patrick promise so when I contacted the dealer to inquire about this vehicle they had I thought I was gonna have the best experience ever. I agreed to a deal and place a $500 deposit. After requesting the invoice the salesman starts acting different so I reached out to the manager and the manager was saying he's too busy. So, I waited almost all day to try to obtain a bill of sale so I could forward it to my lender. I got on the phone contacted the general manager and they told me they cannot sell me the car because the car had an issue which is surprisingly weird because it only has 400 miles on it and at the time when we made the deal the salesman showed me that the car was fully inspected and there's nothing wrong with it. I stayed calm and I was very speechless because purchasing a car is not easy. It takes time so after agreeing to a deal and I was told I couldn't purchase the vehicle that just absurd. I could go on and on but long story short they wouldn't sell me the car because they wanted me to finance through them so they could play with the numbers. We had an awful experience overall with this dealership, and with buying Hyundai's in general. We do not recommend for anyone to buy Hyundai's, particularly from this dealership. Here's why: First, when we bought our Hyundai from Patrick Hyundai, we had an extremely unpleasant (and very stressful) experience with high pressure tactics (as have several others who have written reviews). The Patrick Hyundai rep was absolutely relentless in pressuring us to purchase an extended warranty. He absolutely would NOT take no for an answer. I was going through a stressful time in general, and this experience greatly added to that stress. Next, we received a coupon in the mail from Hyundai corporate. The coupon was for $50 off their "6-month maintenance service". The only problem was the coupon (for use at 6 months) expired 3 months after we bought the car. When we took the coupon to the dealership (at 6 months) they refused to honor it, and told us to "call Hyundai Corporate". When we did so, Hyundai Corporate also refused to do anything about the coupon they sent us (for a 6 month service that expired 3 months after we bought the car). After being transferred to a manager, that person also said they could not do anything. I told that person that if they did not do anything for this absolutely ridiculous error on their part, and they make me hang up the phone without resolving, we would never buy another Hyundai again. The manager told me, "sorry sir, there's nothing I can do". I hung up the phone and I have not only never bought another Hyundai, but I attempt to persuade all that I talk to to do the same. And finally, we also had another issue with Patrick Hyundai dealership. When we purchased our Hyundai, it came with a coupon book for discounts off various service related items. The coupons had no expiration dates (they were originally presented to us as "good for the life of the vehicle"). Last week, when we took our Elantra there for an oil change they refused to accept one of the coupons (for a reduced price oil change). I showed interest in one of their used cars and after negotiating the price range on the phone, we made an appointment to go see the car and close on it next day afternoon. After I cancelled my afternoon plans, arranged for transportation and got my finance locked in (my credit score took a hit), i received a message around noon letting me know that they sold the car. Here is what you should expect when you deal with those guys: 1-They dont keep their words, they are not trust worthy, they are not men, your are dealing with kids. Dont assume they are businessmen, dont take what they say seriously. 2-They will F U on the first chance they get if that is gonna get them more money 3-They are not remorseful about and absolutely not apologetics. 10/12/25 Update: I cannot recommend purchasing a vehicle from Patrick. Patrick sells services at a premium price and tries to get away with doing virtually nothing for the high price that they charge. The work that they do perform will ruin the look of your new car and not provide the protection that they promise. It took over a month, many visits, dozens of communications, and over 10 hours of my time to get Patrick to fix the mess that they made - and I'm still out the money! You don't want to have to go through what I just did. I still love my new Sant Fe - I highly recommend the car - just don't buy it from Patrick! Original review: I would recommend looking at a different dealership for your new Hyundai. If you do purchase from Patrick, do not purchase optional services, protections, or packages. They are nothing but money grabs for the dealership that do not offer the value that they promote them to offer. I purchased a protection package that was supposed to seal and protect the interior and exterior of my vehicle for 7 years. I've only had my vehicle for three weeks and have had nothing but problems with the sealant. It left streak marks all over my interior from uneven and incomplete application. The ceramic coating on the exterior isn't working as advertised and to top it off I have since found entire panels of my car where the ceramic coating was not applied. I have had the vehicle in a second time for a re-application, and it still is not right! I am waiting again for communications back to me on how they are going to take care of this. Take your new car to a detailer to have interior/exterior protectants applied. Do not have Patrick do the work. I had every intention to go back to Patrick for another car that I will be purchasing soon. They knew that when I made this purchase. Our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe required major work because it was burning oil. Hyundai stepped up and paid for the work. Before Patrick Hyundai sent us a list of items that needed attention one of which was front brake pads and rotors. They quoted $950 Which sounded way high to me so we called around and Mavis tire and brakes quoted $450. We took the car to Mavis and when they inspected the car, they determined the brakes had more than 50% pad life and the rotors were fine. They said they cleaned up some rust and blew it out with compressed air and charged us nothing. Thank you, Mavis! Shame on you, Patrick Hyundai. All the readers need to get second opinions on work from dealers. read more

We have purchased 6 Hyundai's at Patrick since 2001. We are done buying Hyundai's and especially done using this dealership. Their service department is a major profit center for them and lately the service department is feeling more like a scam. We had 2 vehicles in for service last week, March 13. For both vehicles there was a line charge of $34.50 named shop charge for repair order. So they are charging us/you for a report to tell us how much the repair will be. What a joke. My daughter said there were about 20 people waiting with her. That's 20 x 34.50 = $690 in the 3 hours she was waiting for her vehicle. That questionable charge is making them serious money. They told us on the Azera, which has 112,000 mile, that they had no record we ever changed the spark plugs so we needed new ones. Patrick themselves replaced the plugs at 85,000 miles in 2023. They also suggested 2 other parts needed to be replaced and they were already replaced last year. These parts should have a 25,000+ mile life on them. Why do they need to be replaced after only 10,000 miles of mostly highway driving. On the Kona they tried upselling a reline of both brakes at $615 (one axle). What an overcharge. Local service shop said she didn't even need a reline but if she did it would only be $350. To us, they appear to be trying to add on products and services not needed and are overcharging for their repairs. We just can't trust them anymore. In the early 2000's when Gus was more involved we would be in and out within an hour for most service visits. Now basic service is at least a 3 hour wait. After buying 6 vehicles from this dealership we expected better, so should you. read more

I recently visited Patrick Hyundai to purchase a 2024 Santa Fe and it's a beautiful vehicle. The experience was okay but have purchased vehicles for other dealers this experience was ok but not bad. My sales person Eddie was amazing. The finance guy was not so great and I almost didn't purchase due to my experience with him. The second thing is when I went to pick up the truck the person that was suppose to show me the car was no where to be found. They texted him and he never showed up. The car wash they gave to the truck right before they gave it to me was not great I had to go take it to get it washed. T The truck was sold to me with the selling points that it had dual charging and all the amazing technology. Only learning after i purchase it does not which was very disappointing for the price point. Also, the package they sell you that suppose to cover wear and tear and all the things on the car don't even bother. I purchased it called and they don't cover a lot save your sell the extra 100 added to your monthly bill. Overall they need to work on their customer service approach, ensure they are fully knowledgeable on their fleet and be transparent on their upselling products. read more

My experience was great! Tom had the Kia all washed, and ready for me to take the test drive. I really loved the truck, and we went in to talk price. I told him what number I needed it under, and he got it done...and VERY quickly! There was not the normal "Let me take this and talk to my manager." It was one and done. Then, I spoke with Zach regarding an extended warranty. He explained to me that my other extended warranty from my other car will be refunded back to me. I had no idea! I was in and out in a little over 2 hours..and that is with the test drive! I will definitely come back, and definitely recommend Patrick Hyundai!! read more
