I prefer a traditional men's cut, nothing fancy, and Linda makes it look exceptional. She is a true artist and is there for YOU, this is not some woman "doing her job." After my first cut two years ago I was so thrilled and confident with my new 'do that I had to phone my mother (I'm 35, so what). Now they wish each other pleasantries when cut time rolls around. Linda, and the family of reviewers, thank you for helping me find the haircut I've always wanted. I never knew that my type of hair could be tamed and look so good!

Linda changed all of that a few years ago with a fantastic cut which let me return to the wash and shake dry days of my youth. It is no exaggeration to say that she gave my hair back to me: my formerly dry and heat-damaged hair is now soft and healthy again. And if that were not enough, the second floor salon overlooking Congress Square Park and Linda's company are both a pleasure to experience. You may have to wait a little bit to get an appointment, but it is 100% worth it!

I let her know I had a wedding coming up and I chose here because they explicitly advertise low maintenance highlights that grow out without harsh lines. As soon as I got back from the shampoo bowl I noticed my blonde was multiple shades lighter than anything I would be able to keep up with, and panicked a bit. Kristen acknowledged it was a lot. When we looked at the line of where the highlights started versus my root she expressed understanding that this wasn't super blended and tried to put some color on it to fix it. There were also spots where the bleach bled, so there are random (literal) spots in my hair that are much brighter than other areas (see pics). I was stressing since this was the very front of my hair that would show in an updo, and the side of my head looked like there was a bald spot from the bleach lol. She assured me I could come back to get some lowlights or some kind of correction so I tipped well and left, despite being pretty anxious. I reached out to Kristen the next day to schedule a fix like she said and this was her response: "Sorry you're not happy with your color! I feel as though my hair coloring technique isn't what you're looking for and another artist will have the technique you're looking for. In this case, we will refund you for your service." What??? I have two weeks until a wedding and if that's not your technique, then why do you advertise highlights with "optimal brightness without noticeable lines or harsh grow out"? Such a strange way of handling it when you don't deliver well. Leaving me high and dry, stressing out trying to find an appointment somewhere rather than fixing it. And I personally think if you can't fix highlights that don't look good or bleach bleeds, you shouldn't be doing highlights in the first place. Like I said strange, disappointing experience. I can see that someone else on here had a similar one, too. Also the owner responded to my google review by accusing me of making the stylist feel "unsafe." The same stylist who had me get my phone out while I was in the chair, look up her personal instagram, follow her, and told me to reach out to her on there to book a lowlight to fix my hair. Very strange thing to do with someone you feel "unsafe with." Accusing me of making the stylist feel unsafe and trying to shame me into deleting my review rather than just admitting they handled this situation poorly and didn't have the ability to deliver or fix their mistakes just underscores my experience.

Palm leaf wallpaper with a hot pink background and chic, modern furniture adorn this salon. What's an added bonus is they also have a cute boutique shop the minute you walk in! You can buy clothes AND treat yourself to a new you! After being suggested by a new friend to see Cait & seeing her work on Insta, I had to book an appointment! Cait's portfolio on her Insta is amazing. She caters to blondes specifically, which is why I thought she would be able to restore my dark roots back to a silver-blonde. Unfortunately, if you are not too familiar with hair textures other than caucasians, you will be faced with a challenge. Asian hair takes MUCH longer to process, which is why we are willing to pay an experienced hairstylist who dedicates a whole day to us $700-900... Cait is my girl, she is SUPER AWESOME. Her humor is ON POINT. We both don't take life too seriously, which is why it was so easy working with her! But, if you know Portland, Maine's demographics... you don't get to experience that challenge. After 2-3 days, my hair color faded to where it didn't even look like I had gotten it done...

She understood what I meant when i requested a seamless blend. I can already tell that my current color is going to grow out beautifully. I travel a lot so I'm not always available for haircolor every 2 months. Also, Randi gave me the best long layered cut I think I've ever had. Stylists tend to not layer my hair enough, but she knew just what to do with mine. It seems like hairdressers are afraid to cut enough layers around my face, but finally, I've found someone who truly understands what I mean when I say I want movement around my face. Also, the salon itself (Eunoia Salon) is stunning! The vibe is warm, inviting, and very calm. I especially enjoyed the sink area in the back. It's a CLEAN salon that is stunningly appointed. Loving my lived in color and long layered cut SO much. Thank you Randi!

The stylist started the appointment by noticing that I was a little flustered and she gave me a bit to get settled. Once we started I knew things were going to go well based on the questions she asked me. She was very throughout, and even asked about what I've enjoyed in appointments past about the outcome of my hair service Wow. She worked efficiently, and was able to completely deliver what I was looking for in about 2 hours total. It might have been a little over? I just don't love spending 3-4 hours at a salon. The result was perfection and I will be back.

The cuts and color I get there are so good that I can get away with two "big" visits per year and two visits for maintenance, so my hair stays in great condition and just looks lived-in and healthy. And the ambiance is even nicer now that Liana has expanded by bringing in a few additional talented stylists! This also opens up more possibilities for appointments, so if you're looking for an intimate salon with a great staff, this is definitely the place to go.

I found my stylist Maggie on instagram and then looked Beehive up here on Yelp. I was pretty impressed. So I reached out to Maggie made an appointment via text and then got the appointment request and alert after. I asked Maggie before how the salon was running. She told me I would be the only one in there with her for most of the time and she would be wearing a mask throughout. I felt very comfortable and safe. One of the other stylists did come in later with a client but there was a chair between us. I was also pleased to note in case anyone forget they had extra masks available at the door. Maggie took ten minutes with me before asking me what I was looking for. I told her I usually had a balayage with a haircut including layers and some thinning. My hair is pretty wild and thick so I tried to warn her it may take her some time to prep and then cut. She was really efficient with her time. So often you go to a stylist and they loose track of time it's annoying. She was so sweet and fun I felt like we were best friends right away. When it was done I was really impressed by how she blended the color and really brightened it up for the start of summer. The salon itself is a cozy little spot situated on the side street behind Nosh. There's metered parking right in front but you do have to pay for it. The salon is really cute inside with exposed brick, some nice plants setup, and limited clutter. So awful you go to a salon with too much product on display or magazines that it just looks messy. Not at Beehive. I highly highly recommend beehive and Maggie. Although you're going to want to book your next appointment while you're there they book up fast.
