I don't throw this around lightly, but that was one of the most delicious sandwiches I have eaten in my life. The smoke was deep, the ham was tender, and the mac and cheese on top was a legitimately inspired move. Absolutely killer combination. Having spent 25 years in the military, I lived all over the country and had some genuinely exceptional barbecue along the way. Places that locals swear by. Regional legends. All of it. Primal 'Cue still stands out as one of my all-time favorite barbecue spots. That says everything. Everything this place puts out is on point. If you are in Sun Prairie or anywhere near it and you have not been to Primal 'Cue, you are missing out. Stop what you are doing and go! NOW!

The 5% left was tougher than a shoe-under the same time, wood, temperature as your average lousy Costco cut that turns out fine. Tonight was so bad that for the first time in a decade I had to apologize to my family and encourage them to eat anything they could find in the house worthwhile to eat. Woodman's Market is a local Wisconsin brand of markets that puts every other market I have shopped at to shame. They are community focused and worker owned, which is really cool in today's corporate driven retail environment. In addition to their mission, they are solely grocery driven, meaning they focus on food, and lots of it...you will not find a wide variety of clothing, toys, seasonal items, etc...here, just food, lots and lots of food, and drinks. The store itself is MASSIVE, overwhelmingly so. However it is so thoughtfully laid out and spaced very well. Aisles are wide, sections are very clear and well defined and again, the selection is unreal. This is repeated throughout the store with every section from produce, veggies, snacks, frozen, meats, drinks, etc... In addition to the impressive variety of goods, Woodman's also has a gas station, service/lube station (oil changes), car wash and of course a well-stocked and good sized liquor store! Legit, everything. The store is well maintained conditionally and was very clean, inside and out. Service was top notch as well. From the cart attendance to the stock associate to the cashier...all were great! Overall, Woodman's Market is currently my favorite grocery store in the country. And I am honestly willing to throw hands over it. In addition to restaurants and other spaces I visit when in WI, Woodman's is always considered a priority stop!

The calamari was quite good. My wife really liked it. It came with two sauces- marinara and a mild horseradish. The horseradish was great, and I focused on it. We shared some kind of Italian sampler meal with chicken parmigiana. Fettucini "minelli", and parmesan-crusted steak. The "minelli" was basically alfredo. Slightly more oily & less creamy. The noodles were a little dry, like they'd been sitting out for a while before they were served. They didn't do much for me, but I don't like alfredo, so you can dismiss my lack of enthusiasm if you love alfredo. The steak itself was okay, but the "parmesan crust" was a half-inch of pesto, grated parmesan, and (I think) bread crumbs. It tasted mealy and a little tasteless to me, and somewhat spoiled the steak. In retrospect after the first bite, I should've scraped it off and just enjoyed the meat. The chicken parmigiana was absolutely middle-of-the-road. I was happy with it, but not exultant. In general none of the "parmesan" emphasized dishes had a strong parmesan flavor, like they were worried I'd be turned off by it. Maybe a Wisconsin thing? They did add a bowl of grated Parmesan flavor I could spoon onto my food and I used most of it on my fettuccine. For dessert we had the limoncello cake. I thought it was a teensy bit dry, but my wife LOVED it. Had the leftovers for breakfast the next day. Overall I'd rate it 3 stars for my experience, and 4 stars for my wife's. For 3.5 stars The polite & attentive service bumps it to 4 I guess.
