Lots of restaurants say they provide a welcoming atmosphere, but Patria is the first place I've genuinely felt as though I was being greeted as an old friend when walking in. Owner Matt and his wife Tasha could not have been more welcoming, in a "friend, we're so glad to see you again" way (despite having never met us before), and not a creepy, cloying way at all. My husband and I went twice in three days for breakfast and had great food and wonderful service both times. The food was cooked to order. The wait wasn't long at all. We love their selection of teas and heartily recommend the Tropical Green tea and the Passionfruit tea. I like a standard breakfast, and their Patria Plus Breakfast of two outstandingly delicious sweet cream pancakes, perfectly cooked bacon, scrambled eggs, and well-seasoned house potatoes was a winner. Their Biscuits and Gravy is huge and filling. We absolutely needed a box for leftovers with that one. The candied bacon, made presumably with a homemade sweet chili sauce, was sinfully delectable and addictive. The Croissant Smashburger with added avocado hit the spot. I highly recommend Patria as a place to try when you are visiting Pagosa Springs. We are new to the community and are thrilled to find a quality eating destination for us. read more

Back for the summer, had to come back to Patria. Just like the first time the food was excellent, as well as the service. I started off with the Lavender Honey latte - delicious! I very much enjoyed the cinnamon crunch French toast. The combination between the French toast with cinnamon crunch pieces, strawberries, whip cream and syrup - amazing! While on vacation, we were underwhelmed by the breakfast options at the resort we are staying at and decided to give Patria a try based on the reviews and the menu online. Boy are we glad we did! What a great find! I had the lavender honey latte and my husband had the Thin Mint Latte and both were delicious! My Pagosa Loco Moco was reminiscent of the Hawaiian staple but with a twist of a green chile sauce. My husband also enjoyed his breakfast, the Patria Breakfast which included eggs, potatoes, toast and choice of meat. Honest review only - me and my friend did not like this place at all. Our food was brought to us after an hour wait, breakfast potatoes were cold, burnt and over salted, lattes were lukewarm, my friends semi-liked grilled cheese, but their burger croissants were over salted and dry. Our server seemed rude throughout the whole experience, also lots of kids working there that created a feeling of chaos. When asked about check we were not given a paper copy with a breakdown we were just charged for the food and it looked like the tip was already added to the total which we were not aware of. This very sweet cafe is located on the far side of the street from the East. We were greeted by a 10-year old who has impeccable manners and clearly the soul of a 30 year old high class maitre d'! He sat us on the patio after asking our preference. We both ordered the Patria Breakfast. BTW- They have gluten free bread!! The food did take a minute, but it was worth the wait! This place has the nicest most welcoming people I've come across in the area. They had a few kids helping bring out the food which is really adorable. The food tasted very fresh and delicious! We got a couple lattes and they were the best we've had during our stay at Pagosa Springs. This was by far our favorite spot in town and we will be coming back with more people! read more

If you visit Pagosa Patria is one you definitely have to visit. Upon entering you are greeted by the most warm welcome from the owner Matt I immediately felt as if I was a local who had been enjoying the wonderful food for years. We were here for spring break and his beautiful family of 5 children were all helping around the restaurant and it was so fun to watch how focused they are at providing excellent service. Food was amazing definitely try one of the espresso martinis. This place is a gem and I look forward to coming back. Loved our meal at Patria today! First time in but won't be our last. We all ordered Patria + entrees - they were so yum! Loved that I could sub avocado for the potatoes!! Monte Cristo was good. Southwestern salad needs work but has potential. Chicken was tough. Lettuce was too big of pieces. Dressing was more of a paste, add some ranch as well and it really helped. Table of an off duty worker with all the owners kids was a bit annoying and chaotic, they should hang out and play elsewhere or just focus on helping. The sweet cream pancakes were good but I asked for maple syrup and I received some corn syrup stuff which was disappointing, I highly suggest supplying maple syrup as it makes a world of difference. I sat by myself hoping to have a little alone time but three different kids under 13 came to sit and talk with me without asking or any adults coming outside to ask if that was okay. It felt pretty chaotic, not that I don't like kids, it just felt pretty inconsiderate. The cortado was good but it could've been hotter. The server I had wasn't very nice and had an attitude when I asked about their coffee and when I'd say thank you I was ignored. I'm so disappointed unfortunately. We had 4 in our party on a Saturday and no one was truly happy with their meals, everyone felt it was dry and somewhat flavorless. The one thing that I could not get over was the owners very young kids running food. I once worked in the food industry for a very very long time.. I get it.. and it's a sweet family dynamic.. when they're not rubbing their noses fully of boogies. I'm local so I get it and again.. would think it was cute if they were old enough to be hygienic but it's also illegal. I drove up from out of state with my rv to have breakfast here because we had some friends say it was really tasty food up in pagosa springs they had recently and she she told me I was on private property and told me I couldn't be here. When I explained that I got in overnight and was here just to have breakfast at her restaurant she yelled at me and said she was calling the police while taking photos of my tag. All I wanted to do was come eat here in the morning and go on my way right after and because of the REAL person she is, I would never recommend anyone go there. She's awful!!!!! read more

Once seated Matt arrived with iced water and a menu with a welcoming hug. It truly felt like coming home from a long vacation. The Monte Cristo was superb I will most definitely be getting another one of those. The green tea latte was so fresh and delicious as well. My husband got the sweet and spicy BLT and said it was absolutely delicious, he too would get again. It was warm and welcoming amidst the busyness of the lunch hour. No loud obnoxious music play. The seating was comfortable. Matt continued to check if we were satisfied and oh yes we sure were.
