I love checking out Patina. When you walk in it's a burst of color. They home goods, trinkets, gifts, toys, jewelry and more. Prices are a bit high on something's but everything is really cute! For sure worth checking out. I generally shop here for gifts or small trinkets, like blind boxes. Staff were really nice and friendly. there is this one worker that was so rude. She kept following us around and thinking that we were stealing just because we're young kids. I do love patina. But with the experience I had with this one worker I don't know if I enjoy as much now. my group of friends and I were just walking around the store about to buy stuff and this one worker wouldn't stop following us and kept looking at us thinking we were stealing. I am appalled that she thinks young girls would be trying to steal at a small business. In fact, we were about to buy three jelly cats but with that rude interaction I had with the worker we left right away because we didn't want the negativity. We didn't want it to be associated with anyone else so we decide to leave. and I would like to say patina is a public business and we do have free will we were not even yelling at all and she's gave us the dirtiest look and said be quiet. keep in mind were the only people in the whole store, there were no other customers because Patina is so overpriced would not recommend. read more

I was very disappointed again last night when I visited Patina in Highland Park. This is the second time I've been in and have been met with many sacrilegious candles of celebrities on religious candles-- many of which have the Sacred Heart or Immaculate Heart that are only appropriate devotions for Jesus and Mary the mother of God. The fact that this store sells these items is reprehensible to me. It is a slam of the Catholic faith and of God Himself. This would never fly if it was something done to dishonor the Muslim faith. I am so saddened that people never think it's wrong to disrespect the Catholic faith. Tolerance of everything is preached by the liberal majority of this country, but that never goes for tolerance of the Christian faith that this country was built on. Not cool, Patina! When we were new to the city, I stopped by the Patina store on Snelling on the hunt for a unique greeting card and was sorely disappointed. That store had a limited selection and pretty much no greeting cards. But then I realized this second, larger store existed over on Ford Parkway. THIS location for Patina is wonderful -- it completely lives up to the promise of its artfully arranged display windows. There are lots of fun gift items, unique clothes, toys and kitchen items and a really great array of unique and beautiful greeting cards. I wound up doing some of my Christmas shopping here last year and really enjoyed the things I found. In an age when every store has the same exact stuff, it is really refreshing to find a store that looks for the unusual and unique and also displays a good sense of humor as well (the 2012 fart calendar I bought my friend was a huge hit...). Prices are higher than what you'd pay at a chain store but the quality is better. So accept the tradeoff and have fun shopping. It's a lovely little store and worth the visit every time. read more

Let's all admit that Patina is like crack for most women. I told my boyfriend; If you ever need a gift for me, and really don't want to think about it at all, just walk into Patina and buy anything. So where do I (@MostRidic) buy these thoughtful gifts? One of my favorite spots is Patina in Highland Park. Now you may be saying, "Whoa, whoa, whoa Mr. Ridiculous. Patina has locations in Minneapolis!" And you would be right. There are several locations around the Cities. However, my favorite Patina location is in Highland Park, on the corner of Ford Parkway and Cleveland. I think it's the biggest location (at least it feels that way) and I enjoy how easy it is to locate inventory in their shop. Patina sells a lot of stuff, and in the smaller stores it can seem cramped and disorganized. Patina is the kind of boutique that has something for everyone. Most of their gifts are aimed towards women, but I've bought gifts for my dad, brother and kids in my life at Patina as well. They have a fun selection of toys for kids, and odd funny gifts for men. Like this ashtray I bought my brother, and this flask I bought myself. I really like shopping at Patina because of their unique selection. The items I find for my wife at Patina, I may only find at Patina. Things like handmade jewelry, scarfs and mittens, interesting books, candles and beauty products. My wife loves their jewelry, and the price point in their products is really affordable; I don't think anything costs over $75. If you're struggling to find that perfect gift at Patina, ask one of the friendly sales people to help. Every time I've had trouble finding a gift the sales people help me locate something I know Sara will enjoy. And if you can't find something at Patina for your significant other, then maybe it's time for a break-up. It is definitely not the store's fault. So, gentlemen, if you have dropped the ball on a gift there is still time to hit a local Patina store and save yourself from some time in the doghouse. I Love Patina! It is my go to for all my gifts. I have had great success in most of the Patina stores that I have shopped at. Today was exceptional! I had called 4 different locations, all closer to my home, trying to find a very specific necklace. Unfortunately, none of the stores had it. When I called the Highland Patina, on Ford Pkwy, I was helped by Matt the manager. Even though he did not have the specific necklace I was looking for, he took the time to photograph and text a bunch of others that were similar! I found one that I liked and it ended up being a huge hit with my daughter! I can see why your store has so many positive reviews Matt, you lead by example. Patina is definitely a fun store to check out. If you're into finding unique gifts for particularly the female gender or little ones, this store is packed with so many choices. Just make sure you think you know the receiver is appreciative of 'different' gifts. There is SO much to look at that you'd better allow yourself time to check every nook and cranny out. Because there IS a lot to look at! It's chocked full of stuff, I wonder how they keep inventory. I would go again, when I stopped in, it was about closing time and wished I had come in earlier. I lived in Minneapolis for several years and did a lot of damage at Patina. I now live in Chicago and Patina is one of my favorite reasons to visit my friends in Minneapolis. I particularly like the one in St. Paul but all locations are great. I buy a lot of things for myself as well as gifts here. No one has returned one of my Patina gifts. Instead people love the unique items they receive from Patina. Perhaps I just know my friends and their taste and Patina fits that. I have never regretted a single purchase I have ever made there and constantly receive compliments on most everything I have bought over the years. To some people it may seem like items you wouldn't need (it's either not their taste or they really didn't look)- but if you like eclectic jewelry, accessories, books, candles, candle holders, stationary, unique home decor, fantastic bath and skin products, children's toys and a plethora of other items you cannot even imagine then swing by any of the Patinas. I choose to review this Patina because I find that it usually has a slightly larger collection and selection of items than some of its sister stores. Overall, I have spent several years trying to find a store like Patina in Chicago to no avail; I have found adequate substitutions but nothing is Patina. This is a fantastic place to pick up eccentric pieces for your apartment and gifts for friends and sisters. I've gotten many things here over the years, including a suede + wood coffee table photo album, floating book shelves, candles, and the cutest reusable shopping bag. Patina carries the prettiest earrings too. The bag selection could be better, but this really isn't the place to go to buy purses to begin with. They also have an extensive and darling baby section for your loved ones with some littles. Service can be a little aloof at the counter sometimes, but that's probably due to the ladies having to wrap their heads around total inventory overload. No matter - it's nice to browse on your own time. I come here every time I visit St. Paul. Patina guarantees at least thirty minutes of great fun. read more

I just love Patina. It's the only place Tapas and i go when we need gifts. The stock changes frequently, so i feel compelled to buy the things i love when i see them. Which is a good thing. Probably not the best place to shop for the macho man in your life, but it will probably suit the other friends you have. Ive bought gifts for friends, teachers, Tapas, Hotdish, my mother my stepmother, and my grandparents here. Yes, it has a very feminine edge to it, but that's fine with me. There's a small "guy gift" section and a decent sized children's section, though that leans more towards very young children. The staff is always darling, adorable & helpful. I've not seen any disgruntlment yet and i frequent Patina. Tapas wanted to buy me a mother's day present and the young woman at the counter was very sweet about helping him choose & pay while i "wasn't looking". The gift wrapping is free too. Some people call it junk, some people call it tschotkes; personally i love the taste level of the stuff they carry. read more

I enjoy the stuff you can find at Patina. A lot of it is not for me, but a lot of it is good for gifts, and at the very least entertaining to look at. I have visited this location and the one on Selby - the reason this location gets four stars instead of three is that this location is more stroller friendly, though if your stroller is much more than the umbrella variety, I'd leave it in the car. Ok, this review is for both the Ford Pkwy and the Snelling/Selby locations. I love Patina, they have such a great selection of gifts. During the Christmas shopping season, this is a great place to go for anything from "Secret Santa" gifts, to gifts for your significant other, or even your in-laws!! They have everything from housewares, to baby toys, to kitchen gadgets, to apparel, to coffee table books, to jewelry, basically anything you can think of that you might want to get someone for a gift. Lots of cute things, with a very wide selection, the kind of store that you could buy something for your teenage nephew and your mom. This Patina deserves praise for a number of reasons. One reason is that the buyers for the store are skilled at finding unique gifts to sell. Another reason is that not only is the merchandise unique but is surprisingly good quality for a gift store, which I feel usually sacrifice quality in my gift store shopping experience. The staff at Patina is also great. Most of the staff seem to view customers as people and actually enjoy helping them rather than just doing their job to get paid. I bought a few maps from Patina one afternoon and dropped them off at my home before running a few more errands. I was near a store later that day that sells frames and am not near this particular store too often. I wished to frame the maps I had purchased but had no idea of the size so I called and asked the clerk if she knew the size of the maps. She said the maps were not labeled for their size but that she would measure them. The clerk easily could have said, "sorry, bye" like most people would have in her situation but instead measured them and gave me the correct size to fit in the frames perfectly. I recommend that you don't overlook Patina as a low-end gift shop because it is definitely one of the best in class. read more

Patina in Highland Park needs to greet everyone when entering the store. They pick and choose who they want to say Hi too. I was in there last night 2-1-19 after my body massage at The Back Rub next to theTheater. I decided to look around and see what I can find for someone. But I didn't get greeted and when I entered the store. Someone else entered and was greeted. There where 2 people, one behind the counter and one nearby the front entrance. Neither one of them greeted me. But as soon as someone else walked in they were greeted. This has happened to me a couple of times. So I turned around and walked out. I will never go back and give someone else my money that don't deserve it. Corp needs to talk to the employees about how to treat people. They need more training or something. Very sad! :/ read more

This might just be the world's cutest store. I really like owls and there so many things that were owls that after about 30 or so times of saying "Aw!" I just started walking around with my mouth open to save energy. The kids section was super cute and cuddly. It's not that the store offers things that you can't find anywhere else, but it's the greatest stuff from a lot of places all in one spot. The cast iron pine cone chimes that I bought there can be found in catalogs like Signals, but to be able to see them in person was perfect and sealed the deal. The price was even cheaper too! Was a loyal customer until a couple years ago when an employee continued to follow me. The Patina employee following me was shocked when I asked her if she was following me. She told me she was told to follow me and that she was sorry, but the damage had already been done. I had on a t-shirt and shorts and was carrying a purse that was a little bigger than a wristlet.
