Alas, after explaining my situation in detail, we did not receive any useful advice. Mark did not really want to understand the origins of the marital problems nor did he give any suitable advice. He has bad judgement as evidenced by him refusing to get a covid vaccine and still meeting clients in person w/o masks. Also, he feels it's ok to take personal calls while in session. He failed to follow up with us after a few sessions, so it looks like he's not really interested in helping. He actually made the situation worse. We are now both with a new counselor who is listening, understanding and non-judgemental and truly interested in helping to get a good outcome. Don't waste your time with Mark

However, the therapist didn't and was creeping around my neighborhood trying to convince me he was a "mobile outreach person". I want to know WHO made him "mobile outreach?" He called me on the day of my appt. with him and I told him I canceled my therapy sessions with him. He kept trying to give me this "from a clinical perspective bs". He asked if he could come into my home!!!" I was like, "Why didn't you call my sister if you were so concerned about me?" He didn't say anything because he couldn't. My sister is with me every other day and she is my emergency contact. He read all of the notes so I am pretty sure he knew that. I am a single female that lives alone. I only give 5 stars to Michelle and Maraveen.

She's the best to work with ,but now they have me with a "therapist" named Maggie every 2 weeks. Well I haven't been able to see her due to her being out. Which is fine with me ,but I feel like there should be a replacement therapist for her while she's out that can help her clients. I did feel like I was "threatened" by my "therapist" Maggie to have my services dropped from here in December 2024 which I wasn't too happy with her when she did that. It made uncomfortable and upset. I'm letting that slide this time due to wanting to continue to see Dr.Elena still. If this happens again I'll have to think about continuing my services here. I will not be "threatened" by a "professional healthcare worker" to drop my services at "professional healthcare place." I called over the to reschedule my appointment with my "therapist" Maggie and the "receptionist" lady at "the front desk" had me on hold for over 5 minutes. I hung my phone and never called back. I had to call back again to reschedule my appointment with my "therapist" Maggie. When you go into the building you have to ask "the front desk" for the key for to bathrooms. Sahara is the best "nurse" I love her she's so cool. They do want you to come in and wait "10 minutes" prior to your appointment time. They can't explain why they want you to do that. If you arrive early to your appointment they won't take you back early. If you arrive to your appointment on time they won't take you back to your appointment right away they make you wait 5-10 minutes. They are always late with everyone's scheduled appointment times. They do ask if have been exposed to COVID & ask you a few questions if you're sick & Do check your temperature on your wrist too. I haven't seen Russell so he isn't there anymore.

If you call, they answer. When you get here, it feels like your child and family are important and they are genuinely glad to see you again. The Positive Change Counseling Center has been my first choice for years to refer patients to. They have been nothing but professional, kind, and helpful in assisting patients from their initial contact to the termination of services when clinically indicated. Their ability to collaborate and treat patients with respect, care, and concern has been unmatched with any other agency that I have worked with. As a professional, I am appreciative of their ability to maintain legal and ethical boundaries with patients and external agencies. There are several agencies in San Diego that do not abide by these guidelines that I find troubling. Throughout our graduate program, our professors were consistently highlighting Kate's excellent combination of strong clinical skills and authentic compassion. She has a natural ability to attune to her clients, and builds trust effectively and organically with a foundation of respect, understanding, and safety. Her warmth and presence allow her to connect with people in a meaningful way, while still maintaining the professionalism and structure needed to facilitate growth and change. As a fellow AMFT, perhaps what I admire most about Kate is her commitment to continued learning and excellence in this field. After graduate school, she pursued additional certification in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), reflecting both her passion for helping clients and her dedication to providing evidence-based, high-quality care. Out of our graduating cohort of 30+ individuals and only a handful being presented with awards, I vividly remember how appropriate our classmates agreed it was that Kate was selected for the "Outstanding Clinical Skills" award. She approaches her work thoughtfully and intentionally, always seeking ways to deepen her skills and better support the individuals who she works with. Kate's passion for therapy is evident in every aspect of her work, and I would confidently recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, and dedicated therapist. I highly recommend Estes Therapy, and I highly recommend Kate Nicholson.
